Mon âme s'en souvient sans cesse, Et elle est abattue en moi,

C'est une grâce de l'Eternel que nous ne soyons pas anéantis, Que ses compassions ne soient pas épuisées.
Es por la misericordia de Jehová que no somos consumidos, porque nunca decayeron sus misericordias.

L'Eternel est ma part, a dit mon âme, C'est pourquoi je m'attendrai à lui.

Trastornar al hombre en su causa, el Señor no lo sabe.
To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

Qui a parlé, et la chose a eu lieu, Sans que le Seigneur l'ait commandé ?

Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

N'est-ce pas de la bouche du Très-Haut Que procèdent les maux et le bien ?
¿De la boca del Altísimo no saldrá malo y bueno?
Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?

Pourquoi l'homme vivant se plaindrait-il ? Que chacun se plaigne de son péché
¿Por qué murmura el hombre viviente, el hombre en su pecado?
Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

Examinons nos voies et sondons-les ; Et retournons jusqu'à l'Eternel.
Escudriñemos nuestros caminos, y busquemos, y volvámonos á Jehová.

Tu as fait de nous des balayures et un rebut Au milieu des peuples.
Raedura y abominación nos tornaste en medio de los pueblos.
Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
You have made us an off-scouring and refuse in the middle of the peoples.
Tous nos ennemis Ouvrent la bouche contre nous.
Todos nuestros enemigos abrieron sobre nosotros su boca.
All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

La frayeur et la fosse nous sont échues, La dévastation et la ruine !
Temor y lazo fué para nosotros, asolamiento y quebrantamiento.
Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
Terror and the pit have come on us, devastation and destruction.”

Ríos de aguas echan mis ojos, por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo.
Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
