Construyó un muro contra mí y me rodeó de amargura y de sufrimientos.

Me obligó a vivir en lugares oscuros, como a los que murieron hace mucho tiempo.
Asentóme en oscuridades, como los ya muertos de mucho tiempo.
He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.

Me encerró para que no pudiera salir; puso sobre mí cadenas muy pesadas.
Cercóme por todos lados, y no puedo salir; agravó mis grillos.
He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

Por más que grito y pido ayuda, él rechaza mi oración.
Aun cuando clamé y dí voces, cerro los oídos á mi oración.

Hizo que las flechas de su aljaba se me clavaran en lo más profundo.
Hizo entrar en mis riñones las saetas de su aljaba.

Soy el hazmerreír de todo mi pueblo; todo el día se burlan de mí en sus canciones.
Fuí escarnio á todo mi pueblo, canción de ellos todos los días.
I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.

Me llenó de amargura, me hizo beber ajenjo hasta saciarme.
Hartóme de amarguras, embriagóme de ajenjos.
He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.

Me hizo pedazos los dientes con piedras, me revolcó en la ceniza.
Quebróme los dientes con cascajo, cubrióme de ceniza.
He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.

Me quitaron la paz; ya no sé lo que es la prosperidad.
Y mi alma se alejó de la paz, olvidéme del bien.
And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.

Por eso dije: “Se acabaron mis fuerzas y mi esperanza en Yahvé”.
Y dije: Pereció mi fortaleza, y mi esperanza de Jehová.
And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:
I said, “My strength has perished, along with my expectation from the LORD.”
Recuerdo mi aflicción y mi vida errante, la amargura y el ajenjo.
Acuérdate de mi aflicción y de mi abatimiento, del ajenjo y de la hiel.
Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the bitterness.
Siempre los tengo presentes, y mi alma se deprime dentro de mí.
Tendrálo aún en memoria mi alma, porque en mí está humillada.
My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
My soul still remembers them, and is bowed down within me.
Pero algo más me viene a la memoria, y eso me da esperanza:
Esto reduciré á mi corazón, por lo cual esperaré.
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

Por el gran amor de Yahvé no somos consumidos, porque su bondad no tiene fin.
Es por la misericordia de Jehová que no somos consumidos, porque nunca decayeron sus misericordias.
It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies don’t fail.
Cada mañana se renuevan sus misericordias; ¡grande es su fidelidad!
Nuevas son cada mañana; grande es tu fidelidad.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Por eso digo: “Yahvé es todo lo que tengo; ¡en él esperaré!”.
Mi parte es Jehová, dijo mi alma; por tanto en él esperaré.
The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

El Señor es bueno con los que en él confían, con todos los que lo buscan.
Bueno es Jehová á los que en él esperan, al alma que le buscare.

Es bueno esperar en silencio que Yahvé nos salve.
Bueno es esperar callando en la salud de Jehová.

Es bueno que el hombre aprenda a llevar el yugo desde su juventud.

Que se siente solo y guarde silencio, porque es el Señor quien se lo impuso.
Sentaráse solo, y callará, porque lo llevó sobre sí.
He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

Que hunda el rostro en el polvo; ¡tal vez aún haya esperanza!
Pondrá su boca en el polvo, por si quizá hay esperanza.
He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
Let him put his mouth in the dust, if it is so that there may be hope.
Que dé la mejilla a quien lo golpea y aceche las humillaciones.
Dará la mejilla al que le hiriere; hartaráse de afrenta.
He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
Let him give his cheek to him who strikes him. Let him be filled full of reproach.
Porque el Señor no nos rechaza para siempre.

Aunque nos haga sufrir, también nos tendrá compasión por su gran amor.
Antes si afligiere, también se compadecerá según la multitud de sus misericordias.
But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

Porque él no disfruta afligiendo ni entristeciendo a los seres humanos.

El aplastar bajo los pies a todos los presos de la tierra,
Desmenuzar bajo de sus pies todos los encarcelados de la tierra,
To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,

el negar a alguien sus derechos en presencia del Altísimo,
Hacer apartar el derecho del hombre ante la presencia del Altísimo,
To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
to turn away the right of a man before the face of the Most High,
o el impedir que se haga justicia, son cosas que el Señor no aprueba.
Trastornar al hombre en su causa, el Señor no lo sabe.
To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
to subvert a man in his cause, the Lord doesn’t approve.
¿Quién puede dar una orden y que esta se cumpla si el Señor no lo ha dispuesto?
¿Quién será aquel que diga, que vino algo que el Señor no mandó?
Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
Who is he who says, and it comes to pass, when the Lord doesn’t command it?
¿No es acaso el Altísimo quien decide si viene el bien o viene el mal?
¿De la boca del Altísimo no saldrá malo y bueno?
Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
Doesn’t evil and good come out of the mouth of the Most High?
¿Por qué habría de quejarse el hombre que aún vive? ¡Que mejor se queje de sus propios pecados!
¿Por qué murmura el hombre viviente, el hombre en su pecado?
Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
Why should a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
Examinemos nuestra conducta y busquemos, y volvamos de nuevo a Yahvé.
Escudriñemos nuestros caminos, y busquemos, y volvámonos á Jehová.
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

Elevemos nuestras manos y nuestro corazón al Dios que está en el cielo.
Levantemos nuestros corazones con las manos á Dios en los cielos.

Dirijámonos a él: “Hemos pecado y nos hemos rebelado, y tú no nos has perdonado.
Nosotros nos hemos rebelado, y fuimos desleales; tú no perdonaste.
We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.

“Nos perseguiste con tu enojo y nos envolvió tu ira; nos mataste sin tener compasión.
Desplegaste la ira, y nos perseguiste; mataste, no perdonaste.
Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
“You have covered us with anger and pursued us. You have killed. You have not pitied.
Te ocultaste tras una nube para que nuestras oraciones no llegaran a ti.
Te cubriste de nube, porque no pasase la oración nuestra.
Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.
You have covered yourself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through.
Nos convertiste en basura y desecho en medio de las naciones.
Raedura y abominación nos tornaste en medio de los pueblos.
Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
You have made us an off-scouring and refuse in the middle of the peoples.
“Nuestros enemigos abrieron la boca para burlarse de nosotros.
Todos nuestros enemigos abrieron sobre nosotros su boca.
All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
“All our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us.
Hemos pasado por el terror, la trampa, la ruina y la destrucción”.
Temor y lazo fué para nosotros, asolamiento y quebrantamiento.
Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
Terror and the pit have come on us, devastation and destruction.”
Mis ojos derraman ríos de lágrimas por la destrucción de mi pueblo.
Ríos de aguas echan mis ojos, por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo.
Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
My eye runs down with streams of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Mis ojos lloran sin descanso; no hay alivio para mi llanto,
Mis ojos destilan, y no cesan, porque no hay alivio,
Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
My eye pours down and doesn’t cease, without any intermission,
hasta que Yahvé mire y nos vea desde el cielo.
Hasta que Jehová mire y vea desde los cielos.
Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.
until the LORD looks down, and sees from heaven.
Me duele el alma al ver lo que sufren las mujeres de mi ciudad.
Mis ojos contristaron mi alma, por todas las hijas de mi ciudad.
Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.
My eye affects my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.
Mis enemigos me cazaron como a un pájaro, sin que yo les hubiera hecho nada.
Mis enemigos me dieron caza como á ave, sin por qué.
Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.
They have chased me relentlessly like a bird, those who are my enemies without cause.
Me arrojaron vivo en un pozo y lo cerraron con una piedra.
Ataron mi vida en mazmorra, pusieron piedra sobre mí.
They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

El agua me cubrió la cabeza, y llegué a pensar: “¡Estoy perdido!”.
Aguas de avenida vinieron sobre mi cabeza; yo dije: Muerto soy.
Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.

Pero desde lo profundo del pozo, Yahvé, invoqué tu nombre.
Invoqué tu nombre, oh Jehová, desde la cárcel profunda.
I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

Tú oíste mi voz; ¡no cierres tus oídos a mi grito de auxilio!
Oiste mi voz; no escondas tu oído á mi clamor, para mi respiro.
Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.
You heard my voice: “Don’t hide your ear from my sighing, and my cry.”
El día que te llamé, viniste a mí y me dijiste: “No tengas miedo”.
Acercástete el día que te invoqué: dijiste: No temas.
Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
You came near in the day that I called on you. You said, “Don’t be afraid.”
Señor, tú defendiste mi causa; tú rescataste mi vida.
Abogaste, Señor, la causa de mi alma; redimiste mi vida.
O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

Yahvé, tú has visto la injusticia que me han hecho; ¡hazme justicia!

Has visto con qué saña se vengaron y todo lo que tramaron contra mí.
Tú has visto toda su venganza; todos sus pensamientos contra mí.

Yahvé, tú has oído sus insultos y todos sus planes en mi contra.
Tú has oído el oprobio de ellos, oh Jehová, todas sus maquinaciones contra mí;

Los que me atacan no dejan de hablar, todo el día conspiran contra mí.
Los dichos de los que contra mí se levantaron, y su designio contra mí todo el día.
The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.

¡Míralos! Ya sea que estén sentados o de pie, no dejan de burlarse de mí en sus canciones.
Su sentarse, y su levantarse mira: yo soy su canción.
Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.

Yahvé, ¡dales su merecido según lo que han hecho!
Dales el pago, oh Jehová, según la obra de sus manos.
Render unto them a recompence, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.

Ponles un velo en el corazón; ¡que tu maldición caiga sobre ellos!
Dales ansia de corazón, tu maldición á ellos.
Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.

Persíguelos con tu enojo, Yahvé, y bórralos de debajo del cielo.

Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the LORD.
