Ele me fez andar na mais completa escuridão; eu não podia ver a luz.

Ele declarou guerra contra mim. Cercou a minha vida de dor e sofrimento.
Edificó contra mí, y cercóme de tósigo y de trabajo.

Ele me obrigou a morar em lugares escuros como os que há muito morreram.
Asentóme en oscuridades, como los ya muertos de mucho tiempo.
He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.

Ele me cercou com paredes altas. Estou preso! Não posso escapar! Além disso, ele colocou pesadas correntes nos meus pés.
Cercóme por todos lados, y no puedo salir; agravó mis grillos.
He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

Mesmo quando grito e clamo por socorro, ele não quer ouvir a minha oração!

Ele se escondeu como um urso, como um leão, para me atacar de surpresa.

O Senhor preparou o seu arco e disparou as suas flechas contra mim.

As flechas da sua aljava se cravaram no meu coração.

Todo o meu povo ri às minhas custas. Chegaram a fazer música, zombando de mim, sem parar.

Minha comida foi pó e pedra; quebrei os meus dentes. Ele me cobriu de cinza e pó.

A paz e a tranquilidade sumiram da minha vida. Já não sei o que é a alegria.

A minha força se foi, bem como a esperança que eu tinha no Senhor.
Y dije: Pereció mi fortaleza, y mi esperanza de Jehová.

Ó Deus, lembre-se do meu sofrimento, da dor e da amargura.
Acuérdate de mi aflicción y de mi abatimiento, del ajenjo y de la hiel.

Eu nunca poderei esquecer aqueles dias tão horríveis; quando me lembro, perco até a vontade de viver.
Tendrálo aún en memoria mi alma, porque en mí está humillada.

Eu quero lembrar aquilo que pode me dar esperança na vida.
Esto reduciré á mi corazón, por lo cual esperaré.

O grande amor de Deus nunca termina. A única razão por não sermos completamente destruídos é a misericórdia do Senhor. Ela é inesgotável.
Es por la misericordia de Jehová que no somos consumidos, porque nunca decayeron sus misericordias.

O Senhor é bom para aqueles que confiam nele, para aqueles que o procuram de coração.

Vale muito esperar com paciência a salvação do Senhor.

O jovem deve se humilhar diante de Deus, porque finalmente a esperança pode surgir.
Pondrá su boca en el polvo, por si quizá hay esperanza.

Quando alguém lhe bater, mostre a outra face e aceite os insultos;
Dará la mejilla al que le hiriere; hartaráse de afrenta.

Mesmo que ele faça uma pessoa sofrer, também vai mostrar a sua compaixão, porque grande é o seu amor.
Antes si afligiere, también se compadecerá según la multitud de sus misericordias.

Deus não tem prazer em dar sofrimento e tristeza aos filhos dos homens.

quando negam o direito do homem perante o Altíssimo,
Hacer apartar el derecho del hombre ante la presencia del Altísimo,

tiram os direitos dos oprimidos e torcem a justiça, não veria o Senhor tais coisas?
Trastornar al hombre en su causa, el Señor no lo sabe.
To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

Pois quem é aquele que diz, e assim acontece, sem a ordem do Senhor?
¿Quién será aquel que diga, que vino algo que el Señor no mandó?
Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

Não é da boca do Altíssimo que saem tanto a alegria como o sofrimento?
¿De la boca del Altísimo no saldrá malo y bueno?
Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
Doesn’t evil and good come out of the mouth of the Most High?
Por que então um simples homem reclama quando recebe o castigo pelos seus pecados?
¿Por qué murmura el hombre viviente, el hombre en su pecado?
Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
Why should a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
Em vez disso, devemos examinar nossa própria vida, nos arrepender de nossos pecados e voltar para o Senhor.
Escudriñemos nuestros caminos, y busquemos, y volvámonos á Jehová.

Vamos levantar as nossas mãos e os nossos corações a Deus, que está nos céus, e confessar:

“Pecamos e fomos rebeldes e o Senhor não nos perdoou.
Nosotros nos hemos rebelado, y fuimos desleales; tú no perdonaste.

A sua ira, Senhor, foi como uma enchente que nos arrastou. O Senhor nos perseguiu e nos matou sem piedade.

O Senhor nos transformou no lixo e refugo das nações da terra.
Raedura y abominación nos tornaste en medio de los pueblos.
Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
You have made us an off-scouring and refuse in the middle of the peoples.
Todos os nossos inimigos abriram as suas bocas contra nós.
Todos nuestros enemigos abrieron sobre nosotros su boca.
All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
“All our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us.
Vivemos cheios de medo; a solidão, a destruição e a morte são as nossas companheiras”.
Temor y lazo fué para nosotros, asolamiento y quebrantamiento.
Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
Terror and the pit have come on us, devastation and destruction.”
Os meus olhos choram, sem parar. Rios contínuos de lágrimas correm dos meus olhos por causa da destruição do meu povo.
Ríos de aguas echan mis ojos, por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo.
Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

Meus olhos choram sem parar, sem descanso algum.

Quem dera o Senhor olhasse lá do céu e atendesse aos meus pedidos!

Os meus inimigos, a quem eu nunca fiz mal algum, me caçaram como se eu fosse um passarinho.

e o Senhor me ouviu; não fechou os seus ouvidos aos meus gritos por socorro.
Oiste mi voz; no escondas tu oído á mi clamor, para mi respiro.
Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

Sim, o Senhor ouviu o meu pedido desesperado e me disse: “Não tenha medo”.

Ó Senhor, castigue esses homens conforme a maldade das suas obras.
