Lucas 12

Als das Gedränge zu Zehntausenden sich versammelte, so daß sie einander niedertraten, fing Er an zu Seinen Jünger zu sagen: Zum ersten nehmet euch in acht vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer, welcher ist Heuchelei.

EN esto, juntándose muchas gentes, tanto que unos á otros se hollaban, comenzó á decir á sus discípulos, primeramente: Guardaos de la levadura de los Fariseos, que es hipocresía.

In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, when a multitude of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his disciples first of all, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Nichts ist verdeckt, das nicht aufgedeckt werden, und verborgen, das nicht erkannt werden wird.

Porque nada hay encubierto, que no haya de ser descubierto; ni oculto, que no haya de ser sabido.

For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.

But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.

Weshalb, was ihr im Finstern gesprochen habt, wird im Licht gehört werden. Und was ihr in den Kammern ins Ohr geredet habt, wird auf den Dächern gepredigt werden.

Por tanto, las cosas que dijisteis en tinieblas, á la luz serán oídas; y lo que hablasteis al oído en las cámaras, será pregonado en los terrados.

Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

Ich aber sage euch, Meinen Freunden: Fürchtet euch nicht vor denen, die den Leib töten, nach dem aber nichts weiter haben, das sie tun können.

Mas os digo, amigos míos: No temáis de los que matan el cuerpo, y después no tienen más que hacer.

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

“I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

Ich will euch aber weisen, vor wem ihr euch zu fürchten habt. Fürchtet euch vor Dem, Der, nachdem Er getötet hat, die Gewalt hat, in die Hölle zu werfen. Ja, Ich sage euch, vor Dem fürchtet euch.

Mas os enseñaré á quién temáis: temed á aquel que después de haber quitado la vida, tiene poder de echar en la Gehenna: así os digo: á éste temed.

But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

Verkauft man nicht fünf Sperlinge um zwei Pfennige, und doch ist keiner derselben vor Gott vergessen.

¿No se venden cinco pajarillos por dos blancas? pues ni uno de ellos está olvidado delante de Dios.

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

“Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God.

Aber auch die Haare eures Hauptes sind alle gezählt. Darum fürchtet euch nicht; ihr seid mehr wert, denn viele Sperlinge.

Y aun los cabellos de vuestra cabeza están todos contados. No temáis pues: de más estima sois que muchos pajarillos.

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

But the very hairs of your head are all counted. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.

Ich sage euch aber: Jeder, der Mich bekennt vor den Menschen, den wird auch des Menschen Sohn bekennen vor den Engeln Gottes.

Y os digo que todo aquel que me confesare delante de los hombres, también el Hijo del hombre le confesará delante de los ángeles de Dios;

Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

“I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, the Son of Man will also confess before the angels of God;

Wer Mich aber vor den Menschen verleugnet hat, der wird auch vor den Engel Gottes verleugnet werden.

Mas el que me negare delante de los hombres, será negado delante de los ángeles de Dios.

But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of God’s angels.

Und jeder, der ein Wort spricht wider des Menschen Sohn, dem soll es vergeben werden; wer aber wider den Heiligen Geist lästert, dem soll es nicht vergeben werden.

Y todo aquel que dice palabra contra el Hijo del hombre, le será perdonado; mas al que blasfemare contra el Espíritu Santo, no le será perdonado.

And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

Wenn sie euch aber vor die Synagogen und die Obrigkeiten und Gewalten führen, so sorget nicht, wie oder womit ihr euch verantworten oder was ihr sprechen sollet.

Y cuando os trajeren á las sinagogas, y á los magistrados y potestades, no estéis solícitos cómo ó qué hayáis de responder, ó qué hayáis de decir;

And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:

When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, don’t be anxious how or what you will answer or what you will say;

Denn der Heilige Geist wird euch zur selben Stunde lehren, was ihr sprechen müßt.

Porque el Espíritu Santo os enseñará en la misma hora lo que será necesario decir.

For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you must say.”

Einer aber aus dem Gedränge sagte zu Ihm: Lehrer, sage meinem Bruder, daß er das Erbe mit mir teilen soll.

Y díjole uno de la compañía: Maestro, di á mi hermano que parta conmigo la herencia.

And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.

One of the multitude said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

Er aber sprach zu ihm: Mensch, wer hat Mich zum Rechtsprecher oder Erbteiler über euch gesetzt?

Mas él le dijo: Hombre, ¿quién me puso por juez ó partidor sobre vosotros?

And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?”

Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Sehet zu und hütet euch vor der Habsucht. Denn niemand hat das Leben in dem Überfluß aus seiner Habe.

Y díjoles: Mirad, y guardaos de toda avaricia; porque la vida del hombre no consiste en la abundancia de los bienes que posee.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”

Er aber sagte ihnen ein Gleichnis und sprach: Es war ein reicher Mann, dem hatte sein Acker wohl getragen.

Y refirióles una parábola, diciendo: La heredad de un hombre rico había llevado mucho;

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

He spoke a parable to them, saying, “The ground of a certain rich man produced abundantly.

Und er bedachte bei sich und sprach: Was soll ich tun? Denn ich habe nicht, wo ich meine Früchte hinsammle.

Y él pensaba dentro de sí, diciendo: ¿Qué haré, porque no tengo donde juntar mis frutos?

And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

He reasoned within himself, saying, ‘What will I do, because I don’t have room to store my crops?’

Und er sagte: Das will ich tun: ich will meine Scheunen abbrechen und größere bauen, und all meinen Ertrag und meine Güter allda sammeln,

Y dijo: Esto haré: derribaré mis alfolíes, y los edificaré mayores, y allí juntaré todos mis frutos y mis bienes;

And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

He said, ‘This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

Und werde meiner Seele sagen: Seele, du hast nun viele Güter auf viele Jahre daliegen. Ruhe aus, iß, trink und sei fröhlich.

Y diré á mi alma: Alma, muchos bienes tienes almacenados para muchos años; repósate, come, bebe, huélgate.

And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

I will tell my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.”’

Gott aber sprach zu ihm: Du Tor, heute Nacht wird man deine Seele von dir abfordern. Wessen wird dann sein, das du bereitet hast?

Y díjole Dios: Necio, esta noche vuelven á pedir tu alma; y lo que has prevenido, ¿de quién será?

But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

“But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’

So ist es mit dem, der sich Schätze sammelt und ist nicht reich in Gott.

Así es el que hace para sí tesoro, y no es rico en Dios.

So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

Er sagte aber zu Seinen Jüngern: Darum sage Ich euch: Sorget nicht für eure Seele, was ihr essen, noch für euren Leib, was ihr antun sollet.

Y dijo á sus discípulos: Por tanto os digo: No estéis afanosos de vuestra vida, qué comeréis; ni del cuerpo, qué vestiréis.

And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear.

Die Seele ist mehr denn die Nahrung, und der Leib mehr denn die Kleidung.

La vida más es que la comida, y el cuerpo que el vestido.

The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.

Betrachtet die Raben; sie säen nicht, sie ernten nicht, sie haben keine Kammer noch Scheune, und Gott ernährt sie. Wieviel mehr seid ihr als das Gevögel.

Considerad los cuervos, que ni siembran, ni siegan; que ni tienen cillero, ni alfolí; y Dios los alimenta. ¿Cuánto de más estima sois vosotros que las aves?

Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

Consider the ravens: they don’t sow, they don’t reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds!

Wer von euch aber kann mit seinem Sorgen seinem Wuchse eine Elle zusetzen?

¿Y quién de vosotros podrá con afán añadir á su estatura un codo?

And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height?

So ihr denn das Geringste nicht könnt, warum sorgt ihr um das Übrige?

Pues si no podéis aun lo que es menos, ¿para qué estaréis afanosos de lo demás?

If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?

If then you aren’t able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest?

Betrachtet die Lilien, wie sie wachsen. Sie mühen sich nicht ab, noch spinnen sie! Aber Ich sage euch, daß auch Salomoh in all seiner Herrlichkeit nicht umkleidet war, wie deren eine.

Considerad los lirios, cómo crecen: no labran, ni hilan; y os digo, que ni Salomón con toda su gloria se vistió como uno de ellos.

Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Consider the lilies, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wenn aber Gott das Gras, das heute auf dem Felde ist und morgen in den Ofen geworfen wird, also ankleidet, wieviel mehr euch, ihr Kleingläubigen!

Y si así viste Dios á la hierba, que hoy está en el campo, y mañana es echada en el horno; ¿cuánto más á vosotros, hombres de poca fe?

If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

But if this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which today exists and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?

So fraget denn auch ihr nicht, was ihr essen oder was ihr trinken werdet, und seid nicht im Zweifel.

Vosotros, pues, no procuréis qué hayáis de comer, ó qué hayáis de beber; ni estéis en ansiosa perplejidad.

And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

“Don’t seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious.

Nach solchem allem trachten die Heiden der Welt. Euer Vater aber weiß, daß ihr dessen bedürfet.

Porque todas estas cosas buscan las gentes del mundo; que vuestro Padre sabe que necesitáis estas cosas.

For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things.

Trachtet vielmehr nach dem Reich Gottes, so wird euch dies alles hinzugetan.

Mas procurad el reino de Dios, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.

But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

But seek God’s Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you.

Fürchte dich nicht, du kleines Herdlein; denn es ist eures Vaters Wohlgefallen, euch das Reich zu geben.

No temáis, manada pequeña; porque al Padre ha placido daros el reino.

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

“Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

Verkaufet, was ihr habt, und gebt Almosen. Machet euch Beutel, die nicht altern, einen Schatz in den Himmeln, der nicht versiegt, wo der Dieb nicht naht, noch die Motte verdirbt.

Vended lo que poseéis, y dad limosna; haceos bolsas que no se envejecen, tesoro en los cielos que nunca falta; donde ladrón no llega, ni polilla corrompe.

Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

Sell what you have and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don’t grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn’t fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

Denn wo euer Schatz ist, da wird auch euer Herz sein.

Porque donde está vuestro tesoro, allí también estará vuestro corazón.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Eure Lenden seien umgürtet, und lasset eure Kerzen brennen.

Estén ceñidos vuestros lomos, y vuestras antorchas encendidas;

Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;

“Let your waist be dressed and your lamps burning.

Und seid ihr ähnlich den Menschen, die auf ihren Herrn warten, wenn er aufbricht von der Hochzeit, daß, wenn er kommt und anklopft, sie ihm alsbald auftun.

Y vosotros semejantes á hombres que esperan cuando su señor ha de volver de las bodas; para que cuando viniere y llamare, luego le abran.

And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

Be like men watching for their lord when he returns from the wedding feast, that when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him.

Selig selbige Knechte, die der Herr, so er kommt, wachend findet. Wahrlich, Ich sage euch, er umgürtet sich, läßt sie zu Tische gehen, und kommt herzu und bedient sie.

Bienaventurados aquellos siervos, á los cuales cuando el Señor viniere, hallare velando: de cierto os digo, que se ceñirá, y hará que se sienten á la mesa, y pasando les servirá.

Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

Blessed are those servants whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Most certainly I tell you that he will dress himself, make them recline, and will come and serve them.

Und so er in der zweiten Wache und in der dritten Wache kommt und findet sie also: selig sind selbige Knechte.

Y aunque venga á la segunda vigilia, y aunque venga á la tercera vigilia, y los hallare así, bienaventurados son los tales siervos.

And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

They will be blessed if he comes in the second or third watch and finds them so.

Dieses aber erkennet: Wenn der Hausherr wüßte, zu welcher Stunde der Dieb käme, so bliebe er wach und ließe nicht in sein Haus einbrechen.

Esto empero sabed, que si supiese el padre de familia á qué hora había de venir el ladrón, velaría ciertamente, y no dejaría minar su casa.

And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.

So seid denn auch ihr bereit; denn des Menschen Sohn wird kommen zu einer Stunde, da ihr es nicht meinet.

Vosotros pues también, estad apercibidos; porque á la hora que no pensáis, el Hijo del hombre vendrá.

Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

Therefore be ready also, for the Son of Man is coming in an hour that you don’t expect him.”

Petrus aber sprach zu Ihm: Herr, sagst Du dieses Gleichnis für uns, oder auch für alle?

Entonces Pedro le dijo: Señor, ¿dices esta parábola á nosotros, ó también á todos?

Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?

Peter said to him, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everybody?”

Der Herr aber sprach: Wer ist wohl der treue und kluge Haushalter, den der Herr über sein Gesinde setzen wird, auf daß er ihnen zur bestimmten Zeit den Mundbedarf gebe?

Y dijo el Señor: ¿Quién es el mayordomo fiel y prudente, al cual el señor pondrá sobre su familia, para que á tiempo les dé su ración?

And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

The Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the right times?

Selig ist selbiger Knecht, den sein Herr findet also tun, wenn er kommt.

Bienaventurado aquel siervo, al cual, cuando el señor viniere, hallare haciendo así.

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Blessed is that servant whom his lord will find doing so when he comes.

In Wahrheit, Ich sage euch, er wird ihn über all seine Habe setzen.

En verdad os digo, que él le pondrá sobre todos sus bienes.

Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

Truly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has.

Wenn aber selbiger Knecht in seinem Herzen spricht: Mein Herr verzieht zu kommen, und fängt an, die Knechte und die Mägde zu schlagen und zu essen und zu trinken und sich zu berauschen;

Mas si el tal siervo dijere en su corazón: Mi señor tarda en venir: y comenzare á herir á los siervos y á las criadas, y á comer y á beber y á embriagarse;

But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My lord delays his coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and to be drunken,

So wird der Herr desselbigen Knechts kommen an einem Tage, an dem er es nicht erwartet, und zu einer Stunde, die er nicht weiß, und ihn zerscheitern und ihm sein Teil setzen mit den Ungetreuen.

Vendrá el señor de aquel siervo el día que no espera, y á la hora que no sabe, y le apartará, y pondrá su parte con los infieles.

The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

then the lord of that servant will come in a day when he isn’t expecting him and in an hour that he doesn’t know, and will cut him in two, and place his portion with the unfaithful.

Selbiger Knecht aber, der seines Herrn Willen wußte und sich nicht bereitete, und nicht nach seinem Willen tat, wird viel Streiche erleiden.

Porque el siervo que entendió la voluntad de su señor, y no se apercibió, ni hizo conforme á su voluntad, será azotado mucho.

And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

That servant who knew his lord’s will, and didn’t prepare nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes,

Der es aber nicht wußte, aber doch tat, was der Streiche wert ist, wird wenig Streiche leiden. Bei einem jeglichen aber, dem viel gegeben ist, von dem wird man viel suchen, und bei dem man viel niedergelegt hat, von dem wird man mehr fordern.

Mas el que no entendió, é hizo cosas dignas de azotes, será azotado poco: porque á cualquiera que fué dado mucho, mucho será vuelto á demandar de él; y al que encomendaron mucho, más le será pedido.

But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

but he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.

Ich bin gekommen, ein Feuer auf die Erde zu werfen, und was wollte Ich, als daß es schon angezündet wäre.

Fuego vine á meter en la tierra: ¿y qué quiero, si ya está encendido?

I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

“I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled.

Ich habe aber eine Taufe, mit der Ich getauft werde, und wie bin Ich bedrängt, bis sie vollendet ist!

Empero de bautismo me es necesario ser bautizado: y ¡cómo me angustio hasta que sea cumplido!

But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!

Meinet ihr, Ich sei hergekommen, Frieden zu geben auf Erden? Nein, sage Ich euch, sondern Zerteilung.

¿Pensáis que he venido á la tierra á dar paz? No, os digo; mas disensión.

Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

Do you think that I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division.

Von nun an werden fünf in einem Hause zerteilt sein, drei wider zwei, und zwei wider drei.

Porque estarán de aquí adelante cinco en una casa divididos; tres contra dos, y dos contra tres.

For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

For from now on, there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

Der Vater wird entzweit sein mit dem Sohn und der Sohn mit dem Vater, die Mutter mit der Tochter und die Tochter mit der Mutter, die Schwieger mit ihrer Schnur und die Schnur mit ihrer Schwieger.

El padre estará dividido contra el hijo, y el hijo contra el padre; la madre contra la hija, y la hija contra la madre; la suegra contra su nuera, y la nuera contra su suegra.

The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

Er sprach aber auch zu dem Gedränge: Wenn ihr eine Wolke vom Niedergang aufgehen sehet, so saget ihr alsbald: Es kommt ein Platzregen! Und es geschieht also.

Y decía también á las gentes: Cuando veis la nube que sale del poniente, luego decís: Agua viene; y es así.

And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.

And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.

When a south wind blows, you say, ‘There will be a scorching heat,’ and it happens.

Ihr Heuchler, das Gesichte der Erde und des Himmel wisset ihr zu prüfen; wie aber ist es, daß ihr diese Zeit nicht prüfet?

¡Hipócritas! Sabéis examinar la faz del cielo y de la tierra; ¿y cómo no reconocéis este tiempo?

Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how is it that you don’t interpret this time?

Pues cuando vas al magistrado con tu adversario, procura en el camino librarte de él; porque no te arrastre al juez, y el juez te entregue al alguacil, y el alguacil te meta en la cárcel.

When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.

For when you are going with your adversary before the magistrate, try diligently on the way to be released from him, lest perhaps he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
