1IN quello stesso tempo furono quivi alcuni, i quali gli fecer rapporto de' Galilei, il cui sangue Pilato avea mescolato co' lor sacrificii.
2E Gesù, rispondendo, disse loro: Pensate voi che que' Galilei fossero i maggiori peccatori di tutti i Galilei, perciocchè hanno sofferte cotali cose?
3No, vi dico, anzi, se voi non vi ravvedete, tutti perirete simigliantemente.
4Ovvero, pensate voi che que' diciotto, sopra i quali cadde la torre in Siloe, e li uccise fossero i più colpevoli di tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme?
5No, vi dico, anzi, se voi non vi ravvedete, tutti perirete simigliantemente.
6OR disse questa parabola: Un uomo avea un fico piantato nella sua vigna; e venne cercandovi del frutto, e non ne trovò.
7Onde disse al vignaiuolo: Ecco, già son tre anni che io vengo, cercando del frutto in questo fico, e non ve ne trovo; taglialo; perchè rende egli ancora inutile la terra?
8Ma egli, rispondendo, gli disse: Signore, lascialo ancora quest'anno, finchè io l'abbia scalzato, e vi abbia messo del letame;
9e se pur fa frutto, bene; se no, nell'avvenire tu lo taglierai.
10OR egli insegnava in una delle sinagoghe, in giorno di sabato.
11Ed ecco, quivi era una donna che avea uno spirito d'infermità già per ispazio di diciotto anni, ed era tutta piegata, e non poteva in alcun modo ridirizzarsi.
12E Gesù, vedutala, la chiamò a sè, e le disse: Donna, tu sei liberata dalla tua infermità.
13E pose le mani sopra lei, ed ella in quello stante fu ridirizzata, e glorificava Iddio.
14Ma il capo della sinagoga, sdegnato che Gesù avesse fatta guarigione in giorno di sabato, prese a dire alla moltitudine: Vi son sei giorni, ne' quali convien lavorare; venite adunque in que' giorni, e siate guariti; e non nel giorno del sabato.
15Laonde il Signore gli rispose, e disse: Ipocriti! ciascun di voi non iscioglie egli dalla mangiatoia, in giorno di sabato, il suo bue, o il suo asino, e li mena a bere?
16E non conveniva egli scioglier da questo legame, in giorno di sabato, costei, ch'è figliuola d'Abrahamo, la qual Satana avea tenuta legata lo spazio di diciotto anni?
17E mentre egli diceva queste cose, tutti i suoi avversari erano confusi; ma tutta la moltitudine si rallegrava di tutte le opere gloriose che si facevano da lui.
18OR egli disse: A che è simile il regno di Dio, ed a che l'assomiglierò io?
19Egli è simile ad un granel di senape, il quale un uomo ha preso, e l'ha gettato nel suo orto; e poi è cresciuto, ed è divenuto albero grande; e gli uccelli del cielo si son ridotti al coperto ne' suoi rami.
20E di nuovo disse: A che assomiglierò il regno di Dio?
21Egli è simile al lievito, il quale una donna prende, e lo ripone in tre staia di farina, finchè tutta sia levitata.
22POI egli andava attorno per le città, e per le castella, insegnando, e facendo cammino verso Gerusalemme.
23Or alcuno gli disse: Signore, sono eglino pochi coloro che son salvati?
24Ed egli disse loro: Sforzatevi d'entrar per la porta stretta, perciocchè io vi dico che molti cercheranno d'entrare, e non potranno.
25Ora, da che il padron della casa si sarà levato, ed avrà serrato l'uscio, voi allora, stando difuori, comincerete a picchiare alla porta, dicendo: Signore, Signore, aprici. Ed egli, rispondendo, vi dirà: Io non so d'onde voi siate.
26Allora prenderete a dire: Noi abbiam mangiato, e bevuto in tua presenza; e tu hai insegnato nelle nostre piazze.
27Ma egli dirà: Io vi dico che non so d'onde voi siate; dipartitevi da me, voi tutti gli operatori d'iniquità.
28Quivi sarà il pianto e lo stridor de' denti, quando vedrete Abrahamo, Isacco, e Giacobbe, e tutti i profeti, nel regno di Dio; e che voi ne sarete cacciati fuori.
29E che ne verranno d'Oriente, e d'Occidente, e di Settentrione, e di Mezzodì, i quali sederanno a tavola nel regno di Dio.
30Ed ecco, ve ne son degli ultimi che saranno i primi, e de' primi che saranno gli ultimi.
31IN quello stesso giorno vennero alcuni Farisei, dicendogli: Partiti, e vattene di qui, perciocchè Erode ti vuol far morire.
32Ed egli disse loro: Andate, e dite a quella volpe: Ecco, io caccio i demoni, e compio di far guarigioni oggi, e domani, e nel terzo giorno perverrò al mio fine.
33Ma pure, mi convien camminare oggi, domani, e posdomani; poichè non conviene che alcun profeta muoia fuor di Gerusalemme.
34Gerusalemme, Gerusalemme, che uccidi i profeti, e lapidi coloro che ti son mandati! quante volte ho voluto raccogliere i tuoi figliuoli, come la gallina raccoglie i suoi pulcini sotto le ale, e voi non avete voluto!
35Ecco, la vostra casa vi è lasciata deserta. Or io vi dico, che voi non mi vedrete più, finchè venga il tempo che diciate: Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore!

1Y EN este mismo tiempo estaban allí unos que le contaban acerca de los Galileos, cuya sangre Pilato había mezclado con sus sacrificios.
2Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: ¿Pensáis que estos Galileos, porque han padecido tales cosas, hayan sido más pecadores que todos los Galileos?
3No, os digo; antes si no os arrepintiereis, todos pereceréis igualmente.
4O aquellos dieciocho, sobre los cuales cayó la torre en Siloé, y los mató, ¿pensáis que ellos fueron más deudores que todos los hombres que habitan en Jerusalem?
5No, os digo; antes si no os arrepintiereis, todos pereceréis asimismo.
6Y dijo esta parábola: Tenía uno una higuera plantada en su viña, y vino á buscar fruto en ella, y no lo halló.
7Y dijo al viñero: He aquí tres años ha que vengo á buscar fruto en esta higuera, y no lo hallo; córtala, ¿por qué ocupará aún la tierra?
8El entonces respondiendo, le dijo: Señor, déjala aún este año, hasta que la excave, y estercole.
9Y si hiciere fruto, bien; y si no, la cortarás después.
10Y enseñaba en una sinagoga en sábado.
11Y he aquí una mujer que tenía espíritu de enfermedad dieciocho años, y andaba agobiada, que en ninguna manera se podía enhestar.
12Y como Jesús la vió, llamóla, y díjole: Mujer, libre eres de tu enfermedad.
13Y puso las manos sobre ella; y luego se enderezó, y glorificaba á Dios.
14Y respondiendo el príncipe de la sinagoga, enojado de que Jesús hubiese curado en sábado, dijo á la compañía: Seis días hay en que es necesario obrar: en estos, pues, venid y sed curados, y no en día de sábado.
15Entonces el Señor le respondió, y dijo: Hipócrita, cada uno de vosotros ¿no desata en sábado su buey ó su asno del pesebre, y lo lleva á beber?
16Y á esta hija de Abraham, que he aquí Satanás la había ligado dieciocho años, ¿no convino desatarla de esta ligadura en día de sábado?
17Y diciendo estas cosas, se avergonzaban todos sus adversarios: mas todo el pueblo se gozaba de todas las cosas gloriosas que eran por él hechas.
18Y dijo: ¿A qué es semejante el reino de Dios, y á qué le compararé?
19Semejante es al grano de la mostaza, que tomándolo un hombre lo metió en su huerto; y creció, y fué hecho árbol grande, y las aves del cielo hicieron nidos en sus ramas.
20Y otra vez dijo: ¿A qué compararé el reino de Dios?
21Semejante es á la levadura, que tomó una mujer, y la escondió en tres medidas de harina, hasta que todo hubo fermentado.
22Y pasaba por todas las ciudades y aldeas, enseñando, y caminando á Jerusalem.
23Y díjole uno: Señor, ¿son pocos los que se salvan? Y él les dijo:
24Porfiad á entrar por la puerta angosta; porque os digo que muchos procurarán entrar, y no podrán.
25Después que el padre de familia se levantare, y cerrare la puerta, y comenzareis á estar fuera, y llamar á la puerta, diciendo: Señor, Señor, ábrenos; y respondiendo os dirá: No os conozco de dónde seáis.
26Entonces comenzaréis á decir: Delante de ti hemos comido y bebido, y en nuestras plazas enseñaste;
27Y os dirá: Dígoos que no os conozco de dónde seáis; apartaos de mí todos los obreros de iniquidad.
28Allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes, cuando viereis á Abraham, y á Isaac, y á Jacob, y á todos los profetas en el reino de Dios, y vosotros excluídos.
29Y vendrán del Oriente y del Occidente, del Norte y del Mediodía, y se sentarán á la mesa en el reino de Dios.
30Y he aquí, son postreros los que eran los primeros; y son primeros los que eran los postreros.
31Aquel mismo día llegaron unos de los Fariseos, diciéndole: Sal, y vete de aquí, porque Herodes te quiere matar.
32Y les dijo: Id, y decid á aquella zorra: He aquí, echo fuera demonios y acabo sanidades hoy y mañana, y al tercer día soy consumado.
33Empero es menester que hoy, y mañana, y pasado mañana camine; porque no es posible que profeta muera fuera de Jerusalem.
34¡Jerusalem, Jerusalem! que matas á los profetas, y apedreas á los que son enviados á ti: ¡cuántas veces quise juntar tus hijos, como la gallina sus pollos debajo de sus alas, y no quisiste!
35He aquí, os es dejada vuestra casa desierta: y os digo que no me veréis, hasta que venga tiempo cuando digáis: Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor.

1There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilæans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilæans were sinners above all the Galilæans, because they suffered such things?
3I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

6He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
10And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
11And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
12And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
14And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
15The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
16And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
17And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
18Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?
19It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.
20And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?
21It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
22And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
23Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
24Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
25When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
26Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
27But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
28There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
29And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
30And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
31The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.
32And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
33Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
34O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!
35Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

1Now there were some present at the same time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.
2Jesus answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered such things?
3I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way.
4Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them—do you think that they were worse offenders than all the men who dwell in Jerusalem?
5I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way.”
6He spoke this parable. “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.
7He said to the vine dresser, ‘Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down! Why does it waste the soil?’
8He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.
9If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’”
10He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day.
11Behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years. She was bent over and could in no way straighten herself up.
12When Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your infirmity.”
13He laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and glorified God.
14The ruler of the synagogue, being indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the multitude, “There are six days in which men ought to work. Therefore come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day!”
15Therefore the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each one of you free his ox or his donkey from the stall on the Sabbath and lead him away to water?
16Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan had bound eighteen long years, be freed from this bondage on the Sabbath day?”
17As he said these things, all his adversaries were disappointed; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
18He said, “What is God’s Kingdom like? To what shall I compare it?
19It is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and put in his own garden. It grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the sky live in its branches.”
20Again he said, “To what shall I compare God’s Kingdom?
21It is like yeast, which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.”
22He went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and traveling on to Jerusalem.
23One said to him, “Lord, are they few who are saved?” He said to them,
24“Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in and will not be able.

33Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, for it can’t be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.’
34“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you refused!
35Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
