Lucas 14

OR avvenne che, essendo egli entrato in casa d'uno de' principali de' Farisei, in giorno di sabato, a mangiare, essi l'osservavano.

Y ACONTECIÓ que entrando en casa de un príncipe de los Fariseos un sábado á comer pan, ellos le acechaban.

And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.

When he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching him.

Ed ecco, un certo uomo idropico era quivi davanti a lui.

Y he aquí un hombre hidrópico estaba delante de él.

And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.

Behold, a certain man who had dropsy was in front of him.

E Gesù prese a dire a' dottori della legge, ed a' Farisei: È egli lecito di guarire alcuno in giorno di sabato?

Y respondiendo Jesús, habló á los doctores de la ley y á los Fariseos, diciendo: ¿Es lícito sanar en sábado?

And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

Ed essi tacquero. Allora, preso colui per la mano, lo guarì, e lo licenziò.

Y ellos callaron. Entonces él tomándole, le sanó, y despidióle.

And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;

But they were silent. He took him, and healed him, and let him go.

Poi fece lor motto, e disse: Chi è colui di voi, che, se il suo asino, o bue, cade in un pozzo, non lo ritragga prontamente fuori nel giorno del sabato?

Y respondiendo á ellos dijo: ¿El asno ó el buey de cuál de vosotros caerá en algún pozo, y no lo sacará luego en día de sábado?

And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

He answered them, “Which of you, if your son or an ox fell into a well, wouldn’t immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?”

Ed essi non gli potevan risponder nulla in contrario a queste cose.

Y no le podían replicar á estas cosas.

And they could not answer him again to these things.

They couldn’t answer him regarding these things.

ORA, considerando come essi eleggevano i primi luoghi a tavola, propose questa parabola agl'invitati, dicendo:

Y observando cómo escogían los primeros asientos á la mesa, propuso una parábola á los convidados, diciéndoles:

And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,

He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them,

Quando tu sarai invitato da alcuno a nozze, non metterti a tavola nel primo luogo, che talora alcuno più onorato di te non sia stato invitato dal medesimo.

Cuando fueres convidado de alguno á bodas, no te sientes en el primer lugar, no sea que otro más honrado que tú esté por él convidado,

When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;

“When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, don’t sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him,

E che colui che avrà invitato te e lui, non venga, e ti dica: Fa' luogo a costui; e che allora tu venga con vergogna a tener l'ultimo luogo.

Y viniendo el que te llamó á ti y á él, te diga: Da lugar á éste: y entonces comiences con vergüenza á tener el lugar último.

And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, ‘Make room for this person.’ Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.

Ma, quando tu sarai invitato, va', mettiti nell'ultimo luogo, acciocchè, quando colui che t'avrà invitato verrà, ti dica: Amico, sali più in su. Allora tu ne avrai onore appresso coloro che saranno teco a tavola.

Mas cuando fueres convidado, ve, y siéntate en el postrer lugar; porque cuando viniere el que te llamó, te diga: Amigo, sube arriba: entonces tendrás gloria delante de los que juntamente se asientan á la mesa.

But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.

Perciocchè chiunque s'innalza sarà abbassato, e chi si abbassa sarà innalzato.

Porque cualquiera que se ensalza, será humillado; y el que se humilla, será ensalzado.

For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

Or egli disse a colui che l'avea invitato: Quando tu farai un desinare, o una cena, non chiamare i tuoi amici, nè i tuoi fratelli, nè i tuoi parenti, nè i tuoi vicini ricchi; che talora essi a vicenda non t'invitino, e ti sia reso il contraccambio.

Y dijo también al que le había convidado: Cuando haces comida ó cena, no llames á tus amigos, ni á tus hermanos, ni á tus parientes, ni á vecinos ricos; porque también ellos no te vuelvan á convidar, y te sea hecha compensación.

Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

He also said to the one who had invited him, “When you make a dinner or a supper, don’t call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.

Anzi, quando fai un convito, chiama i mendici, i monchi, gli zoppi, i ciechi.

Mas cuando haces banquete, llama á los pobres, los mancos, los cojos, los ciegos;

But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind;

E sarai beato; perciocchè essi non hanno il modo di rendertene il contraccambio; ma la retribuzione te ne sarà resa nella risurrezion dei giusti.

Y serás bienaventurado; porque no te pueden retribuir; mas te será recompensado en la resurrección de los justos.

And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

and you will be blessed, because they don’t have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous.”

OR alcun di coloro ch'erano insieme a tavola, udite queste cose, disse: Beato chi mangerà del pane nel regno di Dio.

Y oyendo esto uno de los que juntamente estaban sentados á la mesa, le dijo: Bienaventurado el que comerá pan en el reino de los cielos.

And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

When one of those who sat at the table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is he who will feast in God’s Kingdom!”

E Gesù gli disse: Un uomo fece una gran cena, e v'invitò molti.

El entonces le dijo: Un hombre hizo una grande cena, y convidó á muchos.

Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

But he said to him, “A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.

Ed all'ora della cena, mandò il suo servitore a dire agl'invitati: Venite, perciocchè ogni cosa è già apparecchiata.

Y á la hora de la cena envió á su siervo á decir á los convidados: Venid, que ya está todo aparejado.

And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

He sent out his servant at supper time to tell those who were invited, ‘Come, for everything is ready now.’

Ma in quel medesimo punto tutti cominciarono a scusarsi. Il primo gli disse: Io ho comperata una possessione, e di necessità mi conviene andar fuori a vederla; io ti prego abbimi per iscusato.

Y comenzaron todos á una á excusarse. El primero le dijo: He comprado una hacienda, y necesito salir y verla; te ruego que me des por excusado.

And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

They all as one began to make excuses. “The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please have me excused.’

Ed un altro disse: Io ho comperate cinque paia di buoi, e vo a provarli; io ti prego abbimi per iscusato.

Y el otro dijo: He comprado cinco yuntas de bueyes, y voy á probarlos; ruégote que me des por excusado.

And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

“Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.’

Ed un altro disse: Io ho sposata moglie, e perciò non posso venire.

Y el otro dijo: Acabo de casarme, y por tanto no puedo ir.

And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

“Another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I can’t come.’

E quel servitore venne e rapportò queste cose al suo signore. Allora il padron di casa, adiratosi, disse al suo servitore: Vattene prestamente per le piazze, e per le strade della città, e mena qua i mendici, ed i monchi, e gli zoppi, ed i ciechi.

Y vuelto el siervo, hizo saber estas cosas á su señor. Entonces enojado el padre de la familia, dijo á su siervo: Ve presto por las plazas y por las calles de la ciudad, y mete acá los pobres, los mancos, y cojos, y ciegos.

So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

“That servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.’

Poi il servitore gli disse: Signore, egli è stato fatto come tu ordinasti, ed ancora vi è luogo.

Y dijo el siervo: Señor, hecho es como mandaste, y aun hay lugar.

And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

“The servant said, ‘Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.’

E il signore disse al servitore: Va' fuori per le vie, e per le siepi, e costringili ad entrare, acciocchè la mia casa sia ripiena.

Y dijo el señor al siervo: Ve por los caminos y por los vallados, y fuérzalos á entrar, para que se llene mi casa.

And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

“The lord said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Perciocchè io vi dico che niuno di quegli uomini ch'erano stati invitati assaggerà della mia cena.

Porque os digo que ninguno de aquellos hombres que fueron llamados, gustará mi cena.

For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will taste of my supper. For many are called, but few are chosen.’”

OR molte turbe andavano con lui; ed egli, rivoltosi, disse loro:

Y muchas gentes iban con él; y volviéndose les dijo:

And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,

Now great multitudes were going with him. He turned and said to them,

Se alcuno viene a me, e non odia suo padre, e sua madre, e la moglie, e i figliuoli, e i fratelli, e le sorelle, anzi ancora la sua propria vita, non può esser mio discepolo.

Si alguno viene á mí, y no aborrece á su padre, y madre, y mujer, é hijos, y hermanos, y hermanas, y aun también su vida, no puede ser mi discípulo.

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

“If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple.

E chiunque non porta la sua croce, e non vien dietro a me, non può esser mio discepolo.

Y cualquiera que no trae su cruz, y viene en pos de mí, no puede ser mi discípulo.

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Whoever doesn’t bear his own cross and come after me, can’t be my disciple.

Perciocchè, chi è colui d'infra voi, il quale, volendo edificare una torre, non si assetti prima, e non faccia ragion della spesa, se egli ha da poterla finire?

Porque ¿cuál de vosotros, queriendo edificar una torre, no cuenta primero sentado los gastos, si tiene lo que necesita para acabarla?

For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?

Che talora, avendo posto il fondamento, e non potendola finire, tutti coloro che la vedranno non prendano a beffarlo, dicendo:

Porque después que haya puesto el fundamento, y no pueda acabarla, todos los que lo vieren, no comiencen á hacer burla de él,

Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation and isn’t able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,

Quest'uomo cominciò ad edificare, e non ha potuto finire.

Diciendo: Este hombre comenzó á edificar, y no pudo acabar.

Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

saying, ‘This man began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’

Ovvero, qual re, andando ad affrontarsi in battaglia con un altro re, non si assetta prima, e prende consiglio, se può con diecimila incontrarsi con quell' altro, che vien contro a lui con ventimila?

¿O cuál rey, habiendo de ir á hacer guerra contra otro rey, sentándose primero no consulta si puede salir al encuentro con diez mil al que viene contra él con veinte mil?

Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

Se no, mentre quel l' altro è ancora lontano, gli manda un'ambasciata, e lo richiede di pace.

De otra manera, cuando aun el otro está lejos, le ruega por la paz, enviándole embajada.

Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy and asks for conditions of peace.

Così adunque, niun di voi, il qual non rinunzia a tutto ciò ch'egli ha, può esser mio discepolo.

Así pues, cualquiera de vosotros que no renuncia á todas las cosas que posee, no puede ser mi discípulo.

So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

So therefore, whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he can’t be my disciple.

Il sale è buono, ma se il sale diviene insipido, con che lo si condirà egli?

Buena es la sal; mas si aun la sal fuere desvanecida, ¿con qué se adobará?

Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?

“Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?

Egli non è atto nè per terra, nè per letame; egli è gettato via. Chi ha orecchie da udire, oda.

Ni para la tierra, ni para el muladar es buena; fuera la arrojan. Quien tiene oídos para oir, oiga.

It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
