1Ahora todos los recaudadores de impuestos y pecadores se acercaron para prestarle atención.
2Y los fariseos y los escribas se enojaron, diciendo: Este hombre recibe a los pecadores y come con ellos.
3Y él les contó una historia, diciendo:
4¿Qué hombre de ustedes, teniendo cien ovejas, si una de ellas se suelta y se pierde y se va, no deja que las noventa y nueve en el desierto solas, y va tras ella? hasta que la encuentra?
5Y cuando la tiene de nuevo, la toma en sus brazos con alegría.
6Y cuando regresa a su casa, envía a sus vecinos y amigos, diciéndoles: Alégrense conmigo, porque he recobrado mis ovejas que se habían perdido.
7Les digo que aun así habrá más gozo en el cielo cuando un pecador sea apartado de su maldad, que por noventa y nueve hombres buenos, que no necesitan arrepentimiento.
8¿O qué mujer, que tiene diez pedazos de plata, si un pedacito se le fue de las manos, no encenderá la luz, y barre su casa, buscando con cuidado hasta que la encuentra?
9Y cuando vuelve a tenerla, junta a sus amigos y vecinos, diciendo: Alégrate conmigo, porque he recuperado la plata que había perdido.
10Aun así, les digo, hay alegría entre los ángeles de Dios, cuando un pecador que se arrepiente de su maldad.
11Y él dijo: Un varón tenía dos hijos.
12Y el menor de ellos dijo a su padre: Padre, dame la parte de la herencia que será mía. Y él hizo la división de sus bienes entre ellos.
13Y no mucho después, el hijo menor juntó todo lo que era suyo y emprendió un viaje a un país lejano, y allí todo su dinero lo desperdicio llevando una vida insensata.
14Y cuando todo se malgasto, hubo una hambruna no había comida en ese país, y él estaba en necesidad.
15Y él fue y se puso en manos de uno de los ciudadanos de ese país, y lo envió a sus campos para dar de comer a los cerdos.
16Y tan grande era su necesidad que habría estado contento de tomar la comida de los cerdos, y nadie le dio nada.
17Pero cuando volvió en sí, dijo: ¡Cuántos criados de mi padre tienen suficiente pan, y más, mientras estoy cerca de la muerte por necesidad de alimento!
18Me levantaré e iré donde mi padre, y le diré: Padre, he hecho mal, en contra del cielo y en contra ti.
19Ya no soy digno para ser llamado tu hijo: hazme como uno de tus empleados.
20Y él se levantó y fue a su padre. Pero mientras él todavía estaba lejos, su padre lo vio y sintió lástima por él y fue rápidamente, lo tomó en sus brazos y le dio un beso.
21Y su hijo le dijo: Padre, he hecho mal, contra el cielo y contra ti :y ya no soy digno para ser nombrado tu hijo.
22Pero el padre dijo a sus siervos: busquen la mejor ropa, y vistanlo, y pongan un anillo en su mano y zapatos en sus pies.
23Y toma el buey gordo y mátenlo, comamos y hagamos una fiesta, y alegrémonos.
24Por esto, mi hijo, que estaba muerto, está viviendo de nuevo; él se había alejado de mí y ha regresado. Y ellos estaban llenos de alegría.
25Ahora el hijo mayor estaba en el campo: y cuando llegó cerca de la casa, los sonidos de la música y el baile llegaron a sus oídos.
26Y mandó llamar a uno de los sirvientes, preguntándole que pasaba.
27Y él le dijo: Tu hermano ha venido; y tu padre ha matado un becerro porque ha regresado a salvo.
28Pero él se enojó y no quiso entrar; y su padre salió y le hizo una petición para que entrara.
29Pero él respondió y le dijo a su padre: Mira, todos estos años he sido tu siervo, siguiendo tus órdenes en todo; y tú nunca me diste ni un chivo para que yo tenga una fiesta con mis amigos:
30Pero cuando vino este tu hijo, que ha estado malgastando tu propiedad con prostitutas, le matas un becerro.
31Y él le dijo: Hijo, tú estás conmigo en todo tiempo, y todo lo que tengo es tuyo.
32Pero era correcto estar contentos y tener una fiesta; porque este tu hermano, que estaba muerto, y ha revivido; se había perdido y ha regresado.

1Y SE llegaban á él todos los publicanos y pecadores á oirle.
2Y murmuraban los Fariseos y los escribas, diciendo: Este á los pecadores recibe, y con ellos come.
3Y él les propuso esta parábola, diciendo:
4¿Qué hombre de vosotros, teniendo cien ovejas, si perdiere una de ellas, no deja las noventa y nueve en el desierto, y va á la que se perdió, hasta que la halle?
5Y hallada, la pone sobre sus hombros gozoso;
6Y viniendo á casa, junta á los amigos y á los vecinos, diciéndoles: Dadme el parabién, porque he hallado mi oveja que se había perdido.
7Os digo, que así habrá más gozo en el cielo de un pecador que se arrepiente, que de noventa y nueve justos, que no necesitan arrepentimiento.
8¿O qué mujer que tiene diez dracmas, si perdiere una dracma, no enciende el candil, y barre la casa, y busca con diligencia hasta hallarla?
9Y cuando la hubiere hallado, junta las amigas y las vecinas, diciendo: Dadme el parabién, porque he hallado la dracma que había perdido.
10Así os digo que hay gozo delante de los ángeles de Dios por un pecador que se arrepiente.
11Y dijo: Un hombre tenía dos hijos;
12Y el menor de ellos dijo á su padre: Padre, dame la parte de la hacienda que me pertenece: y les repartió la hacienda.
13Y no muchos días después, juntándolo todo el hijo menor, partió lejos á una provincia apartada; y allí desperdició su hacienda viviendo perdidamente.
14Y cuando todo lo hubo malgastado, vino una grande hambre en aquella provincia, y comenzóle á faltar.
15Y fué y se llegó á uno de los ciudadanos de aquella tierra, el cual le envió á su hacienda para que apacentase los puercos.
16Y deseaba henchir su vientre de las algarrobas que comían los puercos; mas nadie se las daba.
17Y volviendo en sí, dijo: ¡Cuántos jornaleros en casa de mi padre tienen abundancia de pan, y yo aquí perezco de hambre!
18Me levantaré, é iré á mi padre, y le diré: Padre, he pecado contra el cielo, y contra ti;
19Ya no soy digno de ser llamado tu hijo; hazme como á uno de tus jornaleros.
20Y levantándose, vino á su padre. Y como aun estuviese lejos, viólo su padre, y fué movido á misericordia, y corrió, y echóse sobre su cuello, y besóle.
21Y el hijo le dijo: Padre, he pecado contra el cielo, y contra ti, y ya no soy digno de ser llamado tu hijo.
22Mas el padre dijo á sus siervos: Sacad el principal vestido, y vestidle; y poned un anillo en su mano, y zapatos en sus pies.
23Y traed el becerro grueso, y matadlo, y comamos, y hagamos fiesta:
24Porque este mi hijo muerto era, y ha revivido; habíase perdido, y es hallado. Y comenzaron á regocijarse.
25Y su hijo el mayor estaba en el campo; el cual como vino, y llegó cerca de casa, oyó la sinfonía y las danzas;
26Y llamando á uno de los criados, preguntóle qué era aquello.
27Y él le dijo: Tu hermano ha venido; y tu padre ha muerto el becerro grueso, por haberle recibido salvo.
28Entonces se enojó, y no quería entrar. Salió por tanto su padre, y le rogaba que entrase.
29Mas él respondiendo, dijo al padre: He aquí tantos años te sirvo, no habiendo traspasado jamás tu mandamiento, y nunca me has dado un cabrito para gozarme con mis amigos:
30Mas cuando vino éste tu hijo, que ha consumido tu hacienda con rameras, has matado para él el becerro grueso.
31El entonces le dijo: Hijo, tú siempre estás conmigo, y todas mis cosas son tuyas.
32Mas era menester hacer fiesta y holgarnos, porque este tu hermano muerto era, y ha revivido; habíase perdido, y es hallado.

1Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.
2And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.
3And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
4What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
7I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
8Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
9And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
10Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
11And he said, A certain man had two sons:
12And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
13And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
14And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
17And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
27And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
28And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
29And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

1Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming close to him to hear him.
2The Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, “This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them.”
3He told them this parable:
4“Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?
5When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’
7I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
8“Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn’t light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?
9When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost!’
10Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.”
11He said, “A certain man had two sons.
12The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of your property.’ So he divided his livelihood between them.
13Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and traveled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living.
14When he had spent all of it, there arose a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in need.
15He went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
16He wanted to fill his belly with the pods that the pigs ate, but no one gave him any.
17But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough to spare, and I’m dying with hunger!
18I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight.
19I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.”’
20“He arose and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and ran, fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
23Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let’s eat and celebrate;
24for this, my son, was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is found.’ Then they began to celebrate.
25“Now his elder son was in the field. As he came near to the house, he heard music and dancing.
26He called one of the servants to him and asked what was going on.
27He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and healthy.’
28But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and begged him.
29But he answered his father, ‘Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.
30But when this your son came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
31“He said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.
32But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’”
