En uno de estos días, estando él en el templo instruyendo al pueblo, y anunciándole la buena nueva, vinieron los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas con los ancianos,
Y ACONTECIÓ un día, que enseñando él al pueblo en el templo, y anunciando el evangelio, llegáronse los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas, con los ancianos;
And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,

y le hicieron esta pregunta: Dinos, ¿con qué autoridad haces estas cosas?; o ¿quién es el que te ha dado esa potestad?
Y le hablaron, diciendo: Dinos: ¿con qué potestad haces estas cosas? ¿ó quién es el que te ha dado esta potestad?
And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?
They asked him, “Tell us: by what authority do you do these things? Or who is giving you this authority?”
Pero Jesús , por respuesta, les dijo a ellos: También yo quiero haceros una pregunta, respondedme:
Respondiendo entonces Jesús, les dijo: Os preguntaré yo también una palabra; respondedme:
And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:
He answered them, “I also will ask you one question. Tell me:
El bautismo de Juan ¿era cosa del cielo o de los hombres?
El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo, ó de los hombres?
The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?

Mas ellos discurrían entre sí, diciendo: Si respondemos, que del cielo, nos dirá: Pues ¿por qué no habéis creído en él?
Mas ellos pensaban dentro de sí, diciendo: Si dijéremos, del cielo, dirá: ¿Por qué, pues, no le creísteis?
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

Y si decimos de los hombres, el pueblo todo nos apedreará, teniendo por cierto, como tiene, que Juan era un profeta.
Y si dijéremos, de los hombres, todo el pueblo nos apedreará: porque están ciertos que Juan era profeta.
But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.
But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”
Y así contestaron no saber de dónde fuese.
Y respondieron que no sabían de dónde.
And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.
They answered that they didn’t know where it was from.
Entonces Jesús les dijo: Tampoco yo quiero deciros con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.
Entonces Jesús les dijo: Ni yo os digo con qué potestad hago estas cosas.
And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

Luego comenzó a decir al pueblo esta parábola: Un hombre plantó una viña, y la arrendó a ciertos viñaderos; y él se ausentó lejos de allí por una larga temporada.
Y comenzó á decir al pueblo esta parábola: Un hombre plantó una viña, y arrendóla á labradores, y se ausentó por mucho tiempo.
Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.
He began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard and rented it out to some farmers, and went into another country for a long time.
A su tiempo envió un criado a los renteros, para que le diesen su parte de los frutos de la viña; mas ellos, después de haberle maltratado, le despacharon con las manos vacías.
Y al tiempo, envió un siervo á los labradores, para que le diesen del fruto de la viña; mas los labradores le hirieron, y enviaron vacío.
And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.
At the proper season, he sent a servant to the farmers to collect his share of the fruit of the vineyard. But the farmers beat him and sent him away empty.
Envió de nuevo a otro criado; pero a éste también, después de herirle y llenarle de golpes, le remitieron sin nada.
Y volvió á enviar otro siervo; mas ellos á éste también, herido y afrentado, le enviaron vacío.
And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.
He sent yet another servant, and they also beat him and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.
Les envió todavía otro; y a éste también le hirieron y echaron fuera.
Y volvió á enviar al tercer siervo; mas ellos también á éste echaron herido.
And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.

Dijo entonces el dueño de la viña: ¿Qué haré ya? Enviaré a mi hijo querido; quizá cuando le vean, le tendrán más respeto.
Entonces el señor de la viña dijo: ¿Qué haré? Enviaré mi hijo amado: quizás cuando á éste vieren, tendrán respeto.
Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.
The lord of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be that seeing him, they will respect him.’
Mas luego que los colonos le avistaron, discurrieron entre sí, diciendo: Este es el heredero, matémosle, a fin de que la heredad quede por nuestra.
Mas los labradores, viéndole, pensaron entre sí, diciendo: Este es el heredero; venid, matémosle para que la heredad sea nuestra.
But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.
“But when the farmers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.’
Y habiéndolo arrojado fuera de la viña, le mataron. ¿Qué hará, pues, con ellos el dueño de la viña?
Y echáronle fuera de la viña, y le mataron. ¿Qué pues, les hará el señor de la viña?
So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?
Then they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do to them?
Vendrá y dará muerte y perderá a estos colonos, y dará su viña a otros. Lo que oído por los príncipes de los sacerdotes, dijeron: No lo permita Dios.
Vendrá, y destruirá á estos labradores, y dará su viña á otros. Y como ellos lo oyeron, dijeron: ¡Dios nos libre!
He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.
He will come and destroy these farmers, and will give the vineyard to others.” When they heard that, they said, “May that never be!”
Pero Jesús , clavando los ojos en ellos, dijo: ¿Pues qué quiere decir lo que está escrito: La piedra que desecharon los arquitectos, ésta misma vino a ser la principal piedra del ángulo?
Mas él mirándolos, dice: ¿Qué pues es lo que está escrito: La piedra que condenaron los edificadores, ésta fué por cabeza de esquina?
And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
But he looked at them and said, “Then what is this that is written, ‘The stone which the builders rejected was made the chief cornerstone’?
De suerte que quien cayese sobre la dicha piedra, se estrellará; y aquel sobre quien ella cayere, quedará hecho añicos.
Cualquiera que cayere sobre aquella piedra, será quebrantado; mas sobre el que la piedra cayere, le desmenuzará.
Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but it will crush whomever it falls on to dust.”
Entonces los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas desearon prenderle en aquella misma hora; porque bien conocieron que contra ellos se dirigía la parábola propuesta; mas temieron al pueblo.
Y procuraban los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas echarle mano en aquella hora, porque entendieron que contra ellos había dicho esta parábola: mas temieron al pueblo.
And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

Entretanto, como andaban asechándole, enviaron espías, que hiciesen de virtuosos, para cogerle en alguna palabra, a fin de entregarle a la jurisdicción y potestad del gobernador.
Y acechándole enviaron espías que se simulasen justos, para sorprenderle en palabras, para que le entregasen al principado y á la potestad del presidente.
And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
They watched him and sent out spies, who pretended to be righteous, that they might trap him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.
Así le propusieron una cuestión en estos términos: Maestro, bien sabemos que tú hablas, y enseñas lo que es justo, y que no andas con respetos humanos, sino que enseñas el camino de Dios según la verdad:
Los cuales le preguntaron, diciendo: Maestro, sabemos que dices y enseñas bien, y que no tienes respeto á persona; antes enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad.
And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:
They asked him, “Teacher, we know that you say and teach what is right, and aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God.
¿nos es lícito a nosotros pagar tributo a César, o no?
¿Nos es lícito dar tributo á César, ó no?
Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cæsar, or no?
Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
Mas Jesús , conociendo su malicia, les dijo: ¿Para qué venís a tentarme?
Mas él, entendiendo la astucia de ellos, les dijo: ¿Por qué me tentáis?
But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?
But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you test me?
Mostradme un denario: ¿De quién es la imagen e inscripción que tiene? Le respondieron: De César.
Mostradme la moneda. ¿De quién tiene la imagen y la inscripción? Y respondiendo dijeron: De César.
Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Cæsar’s.
Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” They answered, “Caesar’s.”
Les dijo entonces: Pagad, pues, a César lo que es de César; y a Dios lo que es de Dios.
Entonces les dijo: Pues dad á César lo que es de César; y lo que es de Dios, á Dios.
And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.
He said to them, “Then give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
Y no pudieron reprender su respuesta delante del pueblo; antes bien, admirados de ella, callaron.
Y no pudieron reprender sus palabras delante del pueblo: antes maravillados de su respuesta, callaron.
And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.
They weren’t able to trap him in his words before the people. They marveled at his answer and were silent.
Llegaron después algunos de los saduceos, los cuales niegan la resurrección y le propusieron este caso, con el cual pensaban enredarle:
Y llegándose unos de los Saduceos, los cuales niegan haber resurrección, le preguntaron,
Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
Some of the Sadducees came to him, those who deny that there is a resurrection.
Maestro, Moisés nos dejó escrito que si el hermano de alguno, estando casado, viene a morir sin hijos, el hermano de éste se case con su mujer, y dé sucesión a su hermano.
Diciendo: Maestro, Moisés nos escribió: Si el hermano de alguno muriere teniendo mujer, y muriere sin hijos, que su hermano tome la mujer, y levante simiente á su hermano.
Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
They asked him, “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies having a wife, and he is childless, his brother should take the wife and raise up children for his brother.
Eran, pues, siete hermanos, el primero tomó mujer, y murió sin hijos;
Fueron, pues, siete hermanos: y el primero tomó mujer, y murió sin hijos.
There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
There were therefore seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died childless.
el segundo se casó con la viuda, y murió también sin dejar hijos;
Y la tomó el segundo, el cual también murió sin hijos.
And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.

con lo que se desposó con ella el tercero; eso mismo hicieron todos los demás; y sin tener sucesión fallecieron;
Y la tomó el tercero: asimismo también todos siete: y murieron sin dejar prole.
And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.

en fin, la última de todos murió la mujer.
Y á la postre de todos murió también la mujer.
Last of all the woman died also.
Afterward the woman also died.
Esto supuesto, en la resurrección ¿de cuál de los siete será mujer ya que todos siete tuvieron por mujer a la misma?
En la resurrección, pues, ¿mujer de cuál de ellos será? porque los siete la tuvieron por mujer.
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them will she be? For the seven had her as a wife.”
Les respondió Jesús : Los hijos de este siglo contraen matrimonios recíprocamente;
Entonces respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Los hijos de este siglo se casan, y son dados en casamiento:
And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
Jesus said to them, “The children of this age marry and are given in marriage.
pero entre los que serán juzgados dignos del otro siglo y de la resurrección de entre los muertos, ni los hombres tomarán mujeres, ni las mujeres maridos.
Mas los que fueren tenidos por dignos de aquel siglo y de la resurrección de los muertos, ni se casan, ni son dados en casamiento:
But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
But those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.
Porque ya no podrán morir otra vez, siendo iguales a los ángeles e hijos de Dios, por el estado de la resurrección .
Porque no pueden ya más morir: porque son iguales á los ángeles, y son hijos de Dios, cuando son hijos de la resurrección.
Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
For they can’t die any more, for they are like the angels and are children of God, being children of the resurrection.
Por lo demás, que los muertos hayan de resucitar, Moisés lo declaró cuando, estando junto a la zarza, le dijo el Señor: Yo soy el Dios de Abrahán, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob .
Y que los muertos hayan de resucitar, aun Moisés lo enseñó en el pasaje de la zarza, cuando llama al Señor: Dios de Abraham, y Dios de Isaac, y Dios de Jacob.
Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

Claro está que Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos; porque para él todos viven.
Porque Dios no es Dios de muertos, mas de vivos: porque todos viven á él.
For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him.”
Entonces algunos de los escribas, tomando la palabra, le dijeron: Maestro, bien has respondido.
Y respondiéndole unos de los escribas, dijeron: Maestro, bien has dicho.
Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.
Some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you speak well.”
Y de allí adelante ya no se atrevieron a preguntarle nada.
Y no osaron más preguntarle algo.
And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.
They didn’t dare to ask him any more questions.
El les replicó: ¿Cómo dicen que el Cristo es hijo de David,
Y él les dijo: ¿Cómo dicen que el Cristo es hijo de David?
And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David’s son?
He said to them, “Why do they say that the Christ is David’s son?
siendo así que David mismo en el libro de los Salmos, dice: Dijo el Señor a mi Señor, siéntate a mi diestra,
Y el mismo David dice en el libro de los Salmos: Dijo el Señor á mi Señor: Siéntate á mi diestra,
And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,
hasta tanto que yo ponga a tus enemigos por tarima de tus pies?
Entre tanto que pongo tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.
Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.”’
Pues si David le llama su Señor, ¿cómo puede ser hijo suyo?
Así que David le llama Señor: ¿cómo pues es su hijo?
David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

Guardaos de los escribas, que hacen pompa de pasearse con vestidos rozagantes, y gustan de ser saludados en las plazas; y de ocupar las primeras sillas en las sinagogas, y los primeros puestos en los convites;
Guardaos de los escribas, que quieren andar con ropas largas, y aman las salutaciones en las plazas, y las primeras sillas en las sinagogas, y los primeros asientos en las cenas;
Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;
“Beware of those scribes who like to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts;
que devoran las casas de las viudas, con el pretexto de hacer larga oración: éstos serán condenados con mayor rigor.
Que devoran las casas de las viudas, poniendo por pretexto la larga oración: éstos recibirán mayor condenación.
Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.
