1Se acercaba el Festival de los Panes sin Levadura, también llamado La Pascua.
2Los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros religiosos estaban buscando una manera de matar a Jesús, pero tenían miedo de lo que la gente pudiera hacer.
3Satanás entró en Judas, de apellido Iscariote, uno de los doce discípulos.
4Él fue y habló con los jefes de los sacerdotes y los oficiales sobre cómo podría entregarles a Jesús.
5Ellos se deleitaron con esto y le ofrecieron dinero.
6Él estuvo de acuerdo, y comenzó a buscar una oportunidad para entregar a Jesús cuando no estuviera la multitud allí.
7Llegó el Día de los Panes sin Levadura y era necesario sacrificar un cordero.
8Jesús envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciéndoles: “Vayan y preparen la cena de la Pascua, para que podamos comer juntos”.
9Ellos le preguntaron: “¿Dónde quieres que la preparemos?”
10Él respondió: “Cuando entren a la ciudad se encontrarán con un hombre que lleva una vasija con agua. Síganlo y entren a la casa donde él entre.
11Díganle al propietario de la casa: ‘El maestro te manda a preguntar: “¿Dónde está el comedor donde yo pueda ir a cenar con mis discípulos?” ’
12Él les mostrará un salón grande que está arriba y que tiene los muebles necesarios. Preparen allí la cena”.
13Ellos fueron y encontraron que todo sucedió tal como él les había dicho, y prepararon allí la cena de la Pascua.
14Cuando llegó el momento, Jesús se sentó a la mesa con sus apóstoles. Entonces les dijo:
15“En realidad he estado esperando el momento de compartir esta cena de la Pascua con ustedes antes de que comiencen mis sufrimientos.
16Les aseguro que no comeré más de esta cena hasta que se haya cumplido el tiempo en el reino de Dios”.
17Jesús tomó la copa, y después de haber dado gracias, dijo: “Tomen esto y compártanlo entre ustedes.
18Les digo que no beberé nuevamente del fruto de la vid hasta que venga el reino de Dios”.
19Luego tomó el pan, y después de haber dado gracias, lo partió en pedazos y lo compartió con ellos. “Este es mi cuerpo que es entregado a ustedes; hagan esto en memoria de mí”, les dijo Jesús.
20De la misma manera, después de haber terminado de cenar, levantó la copa y dijo: “Esta copa es el nuevo acuerdo en mi sangre que es derramada por ustedes”.
21“A pesar de esto, el que me entrega está sentado justo aquí conmigo en la mesa.
22Porque se ha determinado que el Hijo del hombre morirá, pero ¡cuán terrible será para aquél que lo entrega!”
23Entonces los discípulos comenzaron a discutir entre ellos sobre quién podría ser, y quién podría hacer eso.
24Al mismo tiempo comenzaron una disputa sobre cuál de ellos era el más importante.
25Y Jesús les dijo: “Los reyes extranjeros se enseñorean de sus súbditos, y los que tienen poder quieren que la gente incluso los considere como sus ‘benefactores’.
26¡Pero no debe ser así entre ustedes! El que sea el más importante entre ustedes debe ser como el menos importante, y el líder debe ser como un siervo.
27¿Quién es más importante, el que se sienta en la mesa, o el que sirve? ¿Acaso no es el que se sienta en la mesa? Pero yo estoy entre ustedes como el que sirve.
28Ustedes han estado conmigo durante mis pruebas.
29Yo les otorgo autoridad para gobernar, así como mi padre me la dio a mí,
30para que puedan sentarse en mi mesa a comer y beber cuando estén en mi reino, y se sienten sobre tronos y juzguen a las doce tribus de Israel”.
31“Simón, Simón. Satanás ha pedido tener todo de ustedes para tamizarlos como al trigo,
32pero yo he orado por ti, para que tu fe no fracase. Y cuando hayas regresado, anima a tus hermanos”.
33Pedro le dijo: “¡Señor, estoy listo para ir contigo a la prisión, y morir contigo!”
34Jesús respondió: “Te digo, Pedro, que antes de que el gallo cante hoy, negarás tres veces que me conoces”.
35Entonces Jesús les preguntó: “Cuando los envié sin dinero, sin bolsa y sin calzado adicional, ¿les faltó algo?” “No, nada”, respondieron ellos.
36“Pero ahora, si tienen dinero llévenlo con ustedes, de igual manera si tienen una bolsa, y si no tienen espada, vendan su manto y compren una.
37Les digo que esta declaración de las Escrituras debe cumplirse: ‘Él fue contado con los malvados’. Lo que se dijo sobre mí ahora se está cumpliendo”.
38“Mira, Señor, aquí hay dos espadas”, dijeron ellos. “Es suficiente”, respondió.
39Entonces Jesús se fue de allí y como de costumbre se dirigió al Monte de los Olivos junto con sus discípulos.
40Cuando llegó allí, les dijo: “Oren para que no caigan en tentación”.
41Entonces los dejó allí y caminó cierta distancia como de un tiro de piedra, y allí se arrodilló y oró.
42“Padre”, oraba él, “si es tu voluntad, por favor quita de mí esta copa de sufrimiento. Pero quiero hacer lo que tú quieras, no lo que yo quiero”.
43Entonces un ángel del cielo se le apareció para darle fortaleza.
44Y Jesús oraba mucho más, con terrible angustia, y su sudor caía como gotas de sangre sobre suelo.
45Luego terminó de orar y fue donde estaban los discípulos. Los encontró dormidos, exhaustos por la aflicción.
46“¿Por qué están durmiendo?” les preguntó. “Levántense y oren para que no caigan en tentación”.
47Mientras aún hablaba, se apareció una multitud dirigida por Judas, uno de los doce discípulos. Judas se acercó para besar a Jesús.
48Pero Jesús le preguntó: “Judas, ¿entregas al Hijo del hombre con un beso?”
49Los seguidores de Jesús le preguntaron: “Señor, ¿debemos atacarlos con nuestras espadas?”
50Y uno de ellos hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote, cortándole su oreja derecha.
51“¡Detente! ¡Basta de esto!” dijo Jesús. Entonces tocó la oreja del hombre y lo sanó.
52Luego Jesús habló con los jefes de los sacerdotes, y con los oficiales de la guardia del Templo y los ancianos. “¿Acaso soy algún tipo de criminal, que ustedes tuvieron que venir con palos y espadas?” preguntó.
53“Aunque estuve con ustedes todos los días en el Templo, nunca me arrestaron. Pero este es el momento de ustedes, el momento cuando las tinieblas tienen el poder”.
54Entonces ellos lo arrestaron y se lo llevaron, llevándolo a la casa del jefe de los sacerdotes. Pedro seguía a la distancia.
55Entonces prendieron una fogata en medio del patio y se sentaron alrededor de ella. Y Pedro estaba entre ellos.
56Cuando se sentó allí, una criada lo distinguió por la luz de la fogata, y lo miró fijamente y dijo:
57“Este hombre estaba con él”. Pero Pedro lo negó. “¡Mujer, no lo conozco!” le dijo.
58Un rato más tarde otra persona lo miró y dijo: “Tú también eres uno de ellos”. “¡No, no lo soy!” respondió Pedro.
59Cerca de una hora después, otra persona insistió: “Estoy seguro que estaba con él también, es un galileo”.
60“¡No tengo idea de qué hablas!” respondió Pedro. Justo entonces, cuando aún hablaba, canto el gallo. Entonces el Señor se dio la vuelta y miró a Pedro.
61Y Pedro se acordó de lo que el Señor le había dicho, y cómo le dijo: “Antes que hoy cante el gallo, me negarás tres veces”.
62Entonces Pedro salió y lloró amargamente.
63Luego los hombres que custodiaban a Jesús comenzaron a burlarse de él y a golpearlo.
64Le pusieron una venda en los ojos, y le preguntaban: “¡Si puedes profetizar, dinos quién te golpeó esta vez!”
65Y vociferaban muchos otros insultos contra él.
66Temprano en la mañana, el concilio de ancianos se reunió con los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros religiosos. Jesús fue llevado delante del concilio.
67“Si realmente eres el Mesías, dínoslo”, dijeron ellos. “Aun si se los dijera, no me creerían”, respondió Jesús.
68“Y si yo les hiciera una pregunta, ustedes no la responderían.
69Pero desde ahora el Hijo del hombre se sentará a la diestra del Dios Todopoderoso”.
70Entonces todos ellos preguntaron: “¿Entonces eres el Hijo de Dios?” “Ustedes dicen que yo soy”, respondió Jesús.
71“¿Por qué necesitamos más testigos?” dijeron. “¡Nosotros mismos lo hemos oído de su propia boca!”

1Y ESTABA cerca el día de la fiesta de los ázimos, que se llama la Pascua.
2Y los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban cómo le matarían; mas tenían miedo del pueblo.
3Y entró Satanás en Judas, por sobrenombre Iscariote, el cual era uno del número de los doce;
4Y fué, y habló con los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y con los magistrados, de cómo se lo entregaría.
5Los cuales se holgaron, y concertaron de darle dinero.
6Y prometió, y buscaba oportunidad para entregarle á ellos sin bulla.
7Y vino el día de los ázimos, en el cual era necesario matar la pascua.
8Y envió á Pedro y á Juan, diciendo: Id, aparejadnos la pascua para que comamos.
9Y ellos le dijeron: ¿Dónde quieres que aparejemos?
10Y él les dijo: He aquí cuando entrareis en la ciudad, os encontrará un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua: seguidle hasta la casa donde entrare,
11Y decid al padre de la familia de la casa: El Maestro te dice: ¿Dónde está el aposento donde tengo de comer la pascua con mis discípulos?
12Entonces él os mostrará un gran cenáculo aderezado; aparejad allí.
13Fueron pues, y hallaron como les había dicho; y aparejaron la pascua.
14Y como fué hora, sentóse á la mesa, y con él los apóstoles.
15Y les dijo: En gran manera he deseado comer con vosotros esta pascua antes que padezca;
16Porque os digo que no comeré más de ella, hasta que se cumpla en el reino de Dios.
17Y tomando el vaso, habiendo dado gracias, dijo: Tomad esto, y partidlo entre vosotros;
18Porque os digo, que no beberé más del fruto de la vid, hasta que el reino de Dios venga.
19Y tomando el pan, habiendo dado gracias, partió, y les dió, diciendo: Esto es mi cuerpo, que por vosotros es dado: haced esto en memoria de mí.
20Asimismo también el vaso, después que hubo cenado, diciendo: Este vaso es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre, que por vosotros se derrama.
21Con todo eso, he aquí la mano del que me entrega, conmigo en la mesa.
22Y á la verdad el Hijo del hombre va, según lo que está determinado; empero ¡ay de aquel hombre por el cual es entregado!
23Ellos entonces comenzaron á preguntar entre sí, cuál de ellos sería el que había de hacer esto.
24Y hubo entre ellos una contienda, quién de ellos parecía ser el mayor.
25Entonces él les dijo: Los reyes de las gentes se enseñorean de ellas; y los que sobre ellas tienen potestad, son llamados bienhechores:
26Mas vosotros, no así: antes el que es mayor entre vosotros, sea como el más mozo; y el que es príncipe, como el que sirve.
27Porque, ¿cuál es mayor, el que se sienta á la mesa, ó el que sirve? ¿No es el que se sienta á la mesa? Y yo soy entre vosotros como el que sirve.
28Empero vosotros sois los que habéis permanecido conmigo en mis tentaciones:
29Yo pues os ordeno un reino, como mi Padre me lo ordenó á mí,
30Para que comáis y bebáis en mi mesa en mi reino, y os sentéis sobre tronos juzgando á las doce tribus de Israel.
31Dijo también el Señor: Simón, Simón, he aquí Satanás os ha pedido para zarandaros como á trigo;
32Mas yo he rogado por ti que tu fe no falte: y tú, una vez vuelto, confirma á tus hermanos.
33Y él le dijo: Señor, pronto estoy á ir contigo aun á cárcel y á muerte.
34Y él dijo: Pedro, te digo que el gallo no cantará hoy antes que tú niegues tres veces que me conoces.
35Y á ellos dijo: Cuando os envié sin bolsa, y sin alforja, y sin zapatos, ¿os faltó algo? Y ellos dijeron: Nada.
36Y les dijo: Pues ahora, el que tiene bolsa, tómela, y también la alforja, y el que no tiene, venda su capa y compre espada.
37Porque os digo, que es necesario que se cumpla todavía en mí aquello que está escrito: Y con los malos fué contado: porque lo que está escrito de mí, cumplimiento tiene.
38Entonces ellos dijeron: Señor, he aquí dos espadas. Y él les dijo: Basta.
39Y saliendo, se fué, como solía, al monte de las Olivas; y sus discípulos también le siguieron.
40Y como llegó á aquel lugar, les dijo: Orad que no entréis en tentación.
41Y él se apartó de ellos como un tiro de piedra; y puesto de rodillas oró,
42Diciendo: Padre, si quieres, pasa este vaso de mí; empero no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya.
43Y le apareció un ángel del cielo confortándole.
44Y estando en agonía, oraba más intensamente: y fué su sudor como grandes gotas de sangre que caían hasta la tierra.
45Y como se levantó de la oración, y vino á sus discípulos, hallólos durmiendo de tristeza;
46Y les dijo: ¿Por qué dormís? Levantaos, y orad que no entréis en tentación.
47Estando él aún hablando, he aquí una turba; y el que se llamaba Judas, uno de los doce, iba delante de ellos; y llegóse á Jesús para besarlo.
48Entonces Jesús le dijo: Judas, ¿con beso entregas al Hijo del hombre?
49Y viendo los que estaban con él lo que había de ser, le dijeron: Señor, ¿heriremos á cuchillo?
50Y uno de ellos hirió á un siervo del príncipe de los sacerdotes, y le quitó la oreja derecha.
51Entonces respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Dejad hasta aquí. Y tocando su oreja, le sanó.
52Y Jesús dijo á los que habían venido á él, los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los magistrados del templo, y los ancianos: ¿Como á ladrón habéis salido con espadas y con palos?
53Habiendo estado con vosotros cada día en el templo, no extendisteis las manos contra mí; mas ésta es vuestra hora, y la potestad de las tinieblas.
54Y prendiéndole trajéronle, y metiéronle en casa del príncipe de los sacerdotes. Y Pedro le seguía de lejos.
55Y habiendo encendido fuego en medio de la sala, y sentándose todos alrededor, se sentó también Pedro entre ellos.
56Y como una criada le vió que estaba sentado al fuego, fijóse en él, y dijo: Y éste con él estaba.
57Entonces él lo negó, diciendo: Mujer, no le conozco.
58Y un poco después, viéndole otro, dijo: Y tú de ellos eras. Y Pedro dijo: Hombre, no soy.
59Y como una hora pasada otro afirmaba, diciendo: Verdaderamente también éste estaba con él, porque es Galileo.
60Y Pedro dijo: Hombre, no sé qué dices. Y luego, estando él aún hablando, el gallo cantó.
61Entonces, vuelto el Señor, miró á Pedro: y Pedro se acordó de la palabra del Señor como le había dicho: Antes que el gallo cante, me negarás tres veces.
62Y saliendo fuera Pedro, lloró amargamente.
63Y los hombres que tenían á Jesús, se burlaban de él hiriéndole;
64Y cubriéndole, herían su rostro, y preguntábanle, diciendo: Profetiza quién es el que te hirió.
65Y decían otras muchas cosas injuriándole.
66Y cuando fué de día, se juntaron los ancianos del pueblo, y los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los escribas, y le trajeron á su concilio,
67Diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Cristo? dínoslo. Y les dijo: Si os lo dijere, no creeréis;
68Y también si os preguntare, no me responderéis, ni me soltaréis:
69Mas después de ahora el Hijo del hombre se asentará á la diestra de la potencia de Dios.
70Y dijeron todos: ¿Luego tú eres Hijo de Dios? Y él les dijo: Vosotros decís que yo soy.
71Entonces ellos dijeron: ¿Qué más testimonio deseamos? porque nosotros lo hemos oído de su boca.

1Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
2And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
4And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
5And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
8And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
9And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?
10And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.
11And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
12And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
13And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
14And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
15And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
21But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
22And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
23And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
24And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
25And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
26But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
27For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.
28Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
29And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
30That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
33And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.
34And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
35And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
36Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
39And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
40And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
42Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
43And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,
46And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
47And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
48But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
49When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
50And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
52Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
53When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
54Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest’s house. And Peter followed afar off.
55And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.
56But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
57And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.
58And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
59And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilæan.
60And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.
61And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
62And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
63And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.
64And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
65And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.
66And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
67Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
68And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.
69Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
70Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.
71And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

1Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.
2The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.
3Satan entered into Judas, who was also called Iscariot, who was counted with the twelve.
4He went away and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.
5They were glad, and agreed to give him money.
6He consented and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.
7The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.
8Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”
9They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”
10He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.
11Tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’
12He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”
13They went, found things as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
14When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.
15He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,
16for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in God’s Kingdom.”
17He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this and share it among yourselves,
18for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until God’s Kingdom comes.”
19He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”
20Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
21But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.
22The Son of Man indeed goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”
23They began to question among themselves which of them it was who would do this thing.
24A dispute also arose among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.
25He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’
26But not so with you. Rather, the one who is greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.
27For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
28“But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.
29I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,
30that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
31The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have all of you, that he might sift you as wheat,
32but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers.”
33He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”
34He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”
35He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, bag, and sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”
36Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a bag. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.
37For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ For that which concerns me is being fulfilled.”
38They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”
39He came out and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.
40When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”
41He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,
42saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
43An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.
44Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.
45When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping because of grief,
46and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
47While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared. He who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.
48But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
50A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51But Jesus answered, “Let me at least do this”—and he touched his ear and healed him.
52Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?
53When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”
54They seized him and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.
55When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat among them.
56A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”
57He denied Jesus, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”
58After a little while someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!”
59After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”
60But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
61The Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”
62He went out, and wept bitterly.
63The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.
64Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?”
65They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.
66As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people were gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,
67“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe,
68and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.
69From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”
70They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You say it, because I am.”
71They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”
