Y levantándose toda la multitud de ellos, lleváronle a Pilato.

And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

Y comenzaron a acusarle, diciendo: A éste hemos hallado que pervierte nuestra nación, y que veda dar tributo a César, diciendo que él es el Cristo el Rey.

And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

Entonces Pilato le preguntó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el rey de los Judíos? Y respondiéndole él, dijo: Tú lo dices.

And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.

Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

Mas ellos porfiaban, diciendo: Alborota al pueblo, enseñando por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea hasta aquí.

And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

Entonces Pilato, oyendo de Galilea, preguntó si el hombre era Galileo.

When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilæan.

Y como entendió que era de la jurisdicción de Heródes, le remitió a Heródes, el cual también estaba en Jerusalem en aquellos días.

And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

When he found out that he was in Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem during those days.

Y Heródes, viendo a Jesús, se holgó mucho; porque había mucho que le deseaba ver; porque había oído de él muchas cosas; y tenía esperanza que le vería hacer algún milagro.

Y Herodes, viendo á Jesús, holgóse mucho, porque hacía mucho que deseaba verle; porque había oído de él muchas cosas, y tenía esperanza que le vería hacer alguna señal.

And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things about him. He hoped to see some miracle done by him.

Y le preguntaba con muchas palabras; mas él nada le respondió.

Mas Heródes con sus soldados le menospreció, y escarneció, vistiéndole de una ropa espléndida; y le volvió a enviar a Pilato.

And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

Herod with his soldiers humiliated him and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.

Y fueron hechos amigos entre sí Pilato y Heródes en el mismo día; porque antes eran enemigos entre sí.

And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:

and said to them, “You brought this man to me as one that perverts the people, and behold, having examined him before you, I found no basis for a charge against this man concerning those things of which you accuse him.

Y ni aun Heródes; porque os remití a él; y he aquí, que ninguna cosa digna de muerte se le ha hecho.

No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.

Y les habló otra vez Pilato, queriendo soltar a Jesús.

Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.

And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.

Mas ellos instaban a grandes voces, pidiendo que fuese crucificado; y las voces de ellos, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes prevalecieron.

And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

Entonces Pilato juzgó que se hiciese lo que ellos pedían.

And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

Pilate decreed that what they asked for should be done.

Y les soltó a aquel que había sido echado en la cárcel por sedición y una muerte, al cual habían pedido; mas entregó a Jesús a la voluntad de ellos.

And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

He released him who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus up to their will.

¶ Y llevándole, tomaron a un Simón, Cireneo, que venía del campo, y le pusieron encima la cruz para que la llevase en pos de Jesús.

And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

When they led him away, they grabbed one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, and laid the cross on him to carry it after Jesus.

Y le seguía grande multitud de pueblo, y de mujeres, las cuales le lloraban, y lamentaban.

And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

Mas Jesús, vuelto a ellas, les dijo: Hijas de Jerusalem, no me lloréis a mí; mas lloráos a vosotras mismas, y a vuestros hijos.

But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

Porque, he aquí, que vendrán días, en que dirán: Bienaventuradas las estériles, y los vientres que no parieron, y los pechos que no criaron.

For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

Entonces comenzarán a decir a los montes: Caéd sobre nosotros; y a los collados: Cubrídnos.

Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

Y llevaban también con él otros dos, malhechores, a matar con él.

And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

¶ Y como vinieron al lugar que se llama Calvario, le crucificaron allí; y a los malhechores, uno a la derecha, y otro a la izquierda.

And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

When they came to the place that is called “The Skull”, they crucified him there with the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.

Mas Jesús decía: Padre, perdónalos; porque no saben lo que hacen. Y partiendo sus vestidos, echaron suertes.

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Y el pueblo estaba mirando; y burlaban de él los príncipes con ellos, diciendo: A otros salvó: sálvese a sí mismo, si éste es el Mesías, el escogido de Dios.

And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

The people stood watching. The rulers with them also scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”

And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

¶ Y uno de los malhechores que estaban colgados, le injuriaba, diciendo: Si tú eres el Cristo, sálvate a ti mismo, y a nosotros.

And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!”

Y respondiendo el otro, le riñó, diciendo: ¿Ni aun tú temes a Dios, estando en la misma condenación?

But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Don’t you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

Y nosotros a la verdad, justamente, porque recibimos lo que merecieron nuestros hechos; mas éste ningún mal hizo.

And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

Y dijo a Jesús: Señor, acuérdate de mí cuando vinieres en tu reino.

And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

Y toda la multitud de los que estaban presentes a este espectáculo, viendo lo que había acontecido, se volvían hiriendo sus pechos.

And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

¶ Y, he aquí, un varón llamado José, el cual era senador, varón bueno, y justo:

El cual no había consentido en el consejo ni en los hechos de ellos, varón de Arimatea, ciudad de los Judíos: el cual también esperaba el reino de Dios.

(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.

Este llegó a Pilato, y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús.

This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

Y quitado de la cruz, le envolvió en una sábana, y le puso en un sepulcro que era labrado en roca, en el cual aun ninguno había sido puesto.

And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

Y era día de la preparación de la pascua; y el sábado esclarecía.

And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

It was the day of the Preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near.

Y viniendo también las mujeres que le habían seguido de Galilea, vieron el sepulcro, y como fue puesto su cuerpo.

And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

Y vueltas, aparejaron drogas aromáticas, y ungüentos; y reposaron el sábado, conforme al mandamiento.
