Lucas 23

Y levantándose todo aquel congreso, le llevaron a Pilatos.

LEVANTÁNDOSE entonces toda la multitud de ellos, lleváronle á Pilato.

And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

The whole company of them rose up and brought him before Pilate.

Y comenzaron a acusarlo, diciendo: A éste le hemos hallado pervirtiendo a nuestra nación, y prohibiendo pagar los tributos a César, y diciendo que él es el Cristo o el ungido rey de Israel.

Y comenzaron á acusarle, diciendo: A éste hemos hallado que pervierte la nación, y que veda dar tributo á César, diciendo que él es el Cristo, el rey.

And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

They began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man perverting the nation, forbidding paying taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.”

Pilatos, pues, le interrogó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el rey de los judíos? A lo cual respondió Jesús : Así es como tú dices.

Entonces Pilato le preguntó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los Judíos? Y respondiéndole él, dijo: Tú lo dices.

And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.

Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered him, “So you say.”

Pilatos dijo a los príncipes de los sacerdotes y al pueblo: Yo no hallo delito alguno en este hombre.

Y Pilato dijo á los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y á las gentes: Ninguna culpa hallo en este hombre.

Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

Pilate said to the chief priests and the multitudes, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”

Pero ellos insistían más y más, diciendo: Tiene alborotado al pueblo con la doctrina que va sembrando por toda la Judea, desde la Galilea, donde comenzó, hasta aquí.

Mas ellos porfiaban, diciendo: Alborota al pueblo, enseñando por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea hasta aquí.

And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

But they insisted, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee even to this place.”

Pilatos oyendo Galilea, preguntó si aquel hombre era galileo.

Entonces Pilato, oyendo de Galilea, preguntó si el hombre era Galileo.

When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilæan.

But when Pilate heard Galilee mentioned, he asked if the man was a Galilean.

Y cuando entendió que era de la jurisdicción de Herodes , lo remitió al mismo Herodes , que en aquellos días se hallaba también en Jerusalén .

Y como entendió que era de la jurisdicción de Herodes, le remitió á Herodes, el cual también estaba en Jerusalem en aquellos días.

And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

When he found out that he was in Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem during those days.

Herodes se alegró sobremanera de ver a Jesús ; porque hacía mucho tiempo que deseaba verlo, por las muchas cosas que había oído de él, y con esta ocasión esperaba verlo hacer algún milagro.

Y Herodes, viendo á Jesús, holgóse mucho, porque hacía mucho que deseaba verle; porque había oído de él muchas cosas, y tenía esperanza que le vería hacer alguna señal.

And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things about him. He hoped to see some miracle done by him.

Le hizo, pues, muchas preguntas, pero él no le respondió palabra.

Y le preguntaba con muchas palabras; mas él nada le respondió:

Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

He questioned him with many words, but he gave no answers.

Entretanto los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas persistían obstinadamente en acusarle.

Y estaban los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas acusándole con gran porfía.

And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.

The chief priests and the scribes stood, vehemently accusing him.

Mas Herodes con todos los de su séquito le despreció; y para burlarse de él, le hizo vestir de una ropa blanca, y le volvió a enviar a Pilatos.

Mas Herodes con su corte le menospreció, y escarneció, vistiéndole de una ropa rica; y volvióle á enviar á Pilato.

And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

Herod with his soldiers humiliated him and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.

Con lo cual se hicieron amigos aquel mismo día Herodes y Pilatos, que antes estaban entre sí enemistados.

Y fueron hechos amigos entre sí Pilato y Herodes en el mismo día; porque antes eran enemigos entre sí.

And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before that they were enemies with each other.

Habiendo, pues, Pilatos, convocado a los príncipes de los sacerdotes, a los magistrados y al pueblo,

Entonces Pilato, convocando los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los magistrados, y el pueblo,

And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,

les dijo: Vosotros me habéis presentado este hombre como alborotador del pueblo, y he aquí que habiéndole yo interrogado en presencia vuestra, ningún delito he hallado en él, de los que le acusáis.

Les dijo: Me habéis presentado á éste por hombre que desvía al pueblo: y he aquí, preguntando yo delante de vosotros, no he hallado culpa alguna en este hombre de aquéllas de que le acusáis.

Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:

and said to them, “You brought this man to me as one that perverts the people, and behold, having examined him before you, I found no basis for a charge against this man concerning those things of which you accuse him.

Pero tampoco Herodes ; puesto que lo remití a él, y por el hecho se ve que no le juzgó digno de muerte.

Y ni aun Herodes; porque os remití á él, y he aquí, ninguna cosa digna de muerte ha hecho.

No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.

Neither has Herod, for I sent you to him, and see, nothing worthy of death has been done by him.

Por tanto, después de castigado le dejaré libre.

Le soltaré, pues, castigado.

I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

Tenía Pilatos que dar libertad a un reo cuando llegaba la celebridad de la fiesta de la Pascua .

Y tenía necesidad de soltarles uno en cada fiesta.

(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)

Now he had to release one prisoner to them at the feast.

Y todo el pueblo a una voz clamó, diciendo: Quítale a éste la vida, y suéltanos a Barrabás,

Mas toda la multitud dió voces á una, diciendo: Quita á éste, y suéltanos á Barrabás:

And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:

But they all cried out together, saying, “Away with this man! Release to us Barabbas!”—

el cual por una sedición levantada en la ciudad y por un homicidio, había sido puesto en la cárcel.

(El cual había sido echado en la cárcel por una sedición hecha en la ciudad, y una muerte.)

(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)

one who was thrown into prison for a certain revolt in the city, and for murder.

Les habló nuevamente Pilatos, con deseo de libertar a Jesús .

Y hablóles otra vez Pilato, queriendo soltar á Jesús.

Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.

Then Pilate spoke to them again, wanting to release Jesus,

Pero ellos se pusieron a gritar, diciendo: ¡Crucifícale, crucifícale!

Pero ellos volvieron á dar voces, diciendo: Crucifícale, crucifícale.

But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

but they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify him!”

El, no obstante, por tercera vez les dijo: Pues ¿qué mal ha hecho éste? Yo no hallo en él delito alguno de muerte; así que, después de castigarle, le daré por libre.

Y él les dijo la tercera vez: ¿Pues qué mal ha hecho éste? Ninguna culpa de muerte he hallado en él: le castigaré, pues, y le soltaré.

And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.

He said to them the third time, “Why? What evil has this man done? I have found no capital crime in him. I will therefore chastise him and release him.”

Mas ellos insistían con grandes clamores pidiendo que fuese crucificado, y se aumentaba la gritería.

Mas ellos instaban á grandes voces, pidiendo que fuese crucificado. Y las voces de ellos y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes crecían.

And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

But they were urgent with loud voices, asking that he might be crucified. Their voices and the voices of the chief priests prevailed.

Al fin Pilatos se resolvió a otorgar su demanda.

Entonces Pilato juzgó que se hiciese lo que ellos pedían;

And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

Pilate decreed that what they asked for should be done.

En consecuencia dio libertad, como ellos pedían, al que por causa de homicidio y sedición había sido encarcelado; y a Jesús le abandonó al arbitrio de ellos.

Y les soltó á aquél que había sido echado en la cárcel por sedición y una muerte, al cual habían pedido; y entregó á Jesús á la voluntad de ellos.

And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

He released him who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus up to their will.

Al conducirle al suplicio echaron mano de un tal Simón, natural de Cirene, que venía de una granja, y le cargaron la cruz para que la llevara en pos de Jesús .

Y llevándole, tomaron á un Simón Cireneo, que venía del campo, y le pusieron encima la cruz para que la llevase tras Jesús.

And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

When they led him away, they grabbed one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, and laid the cross on him to carry it after Jesus.

Seguíale gran muchedumbre de hombres y de mujeres, las cuales se deshacían en llantos.

Y le seguía una grande multitud de pueblo, y de mujeres, las cuales le lloraban y lamentaban.

And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

A great multitude of the people followed him, including women who also mourned and lamented him.

Pero Jesús vuelto a ellas, les dijo: Hijas de Jerusalén , no lloréis por mí; llorad por vosotras mismas y por vuestros hijos.

Mas Jesús, vuelto á ellas, les dice: Hijas de Jerusalem, no me lloréis á mí, mas llorad por vosotras mismas, y por vuestros hijos.

But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

But Jesus, turning to them, said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, don’t weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

Porque presto vendrán días en que se diga: Dichosas las estériles, y dichosos los vientres que no concibieron, y los pechos que no dieron de mamar.

Porque he aquí vendrán días en que dirán: Bienaventuradas las estériles, y los vientres que no engendraron, y los pechos que no criaron.

For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

For behold, the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.’

Entonces comenzarán a decir a los montes: Caed sobre nosotros; y a los collados: Sepultadnos.

Entonces comenzarán á decir á los montes: Caed sobre nosotros: y á los collados: Cubridnos.

Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

Then they will begin to tell the mountains, ‘Fall on us!’ and tell the hills, ‘Cover us.’

Pues si al árbol verde le tratan de esta manera, ¿en el seco qué se hará?

Porque si en el árbol verde hacen estas cosas, ¿en el seco, qué se hará?

For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

For if they do these things in the green tree, what will be done in the dry?”

Eran también conducidos con Jesús a la muerte dos facinerosos.

Y llevaban también con él otros dos, malhechores, á ser muertos.

And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

There were also others, two criminals, led with him to be put to death.

Llegados que fueron al lugar llamado Calvario, allí le crucificaron; y con él a los ladrones, uno a la derecha y otro a la izquierda.

Y como vinieron al lugar que se llama de la Calavera, le crucificaron allí, y á los malhechores, uno á la derecha, y otro á la izquierda.

And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

When they came to the place that is called “The Skull”, they crucified him there with the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.

Entretanto Jesús decía: Padre, perdónales, porque no saben lo que hacen. Y ellos poniéndose a repartir entre sí sus vestidos, los sortearon.

Y Jesús decía: Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen. Y partiendo sus vestidos, echaron suertes.

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots.

El pueblo lo estaba mirando todo, y a una con él los principales hacían burla de Jesús diciendo: A otros ha salvado, sálvese, pues, a sí mismo, si él es el Cristo , o Mesías, el escogido de Dios.

Y el pueblo estaba mirando; y se burlaban de él los príncipes con ellos, diciendo: A otros hizo salvos: sálvese á sí, si éste es el Mesías, el escogido de Dios.

And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

The people stood watching. The rulers with them also scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”

Lo insultaban no menos los soldados, los cuales se arrimaban a él, y presentándole vinagre,

Escarnecían de él también los soldados, llegándose y presentándole vinagre,

And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

The soldiers also mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar,

le decían: Si tú eres el rey de los judíos, ponte a salvo.

Y diciendo: Si tú eres el Rey de los Judíos, sálvate á ti mismo.

And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

Estaba colocado sobre la cabeza de Jesús un letrero escrito en griego, en latín y en hebreo, que decía: ESTE ES EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS.

Y había también sobre él un título escrito con letras griegas, y latinas, y hebraicas: ESTE ES EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS.

And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

An inscription was also written over him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

Y uno de los ladrones que estaban crucificados, blasfemaba contra Jesús , diciendo: Si tú eres el Cristo , o Mesías, sálvate a ti mismo y a nosotros.

Y uno de los malhechores que estaban colgados, le injuriaba, diciendo: Si tú eres el Cristo, sálvate á ti mismo y á nosotros.

And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!”

Mas el otro le reprendía, diciendo: ¿Cómo, ni aun tú temes a Dios, estando como estás en el mismo suplicio?

Y respondiendo el otro, reprendióle, diciendo: ¿Ni aun tú temes á Dios, estando en la misma condenación?

But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Don’t you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

Y nosotros a la verdad estamos en él justamente, pues pagamos la pena merecida por nuestros delitos; pero éste ningún mal ha hecho.

Y nosotros, á la verdad, justamente padecemos; porque recibimos lo que merecieron nuestros hechos: mas éste ningún mal hizo.

And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.”

Decía después a Jesús : Señor, acuérdate de mí, cuando hayas llegado a tu reino.

Y dijo á Jesús: Acuérdate de mí cuando vinieres á tu reino.

And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

He said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

Y Jesús le dijo: En verdad te digo, que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.

Entonces Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo, que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.

And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Era ya casi el mediodía, y las tinieblas cubrieron toda la tierra hasta las tres de la tarde.

Y cuando era como la hora de sexta, fueron hechas tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora de nona.

And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.

El sol se oscureció; y el velo del templo se rasgó por medio.

Y el sol se obscureció: y el velo del templo se rompió por medio.

And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

Entonces Jesús clamando con una voz muy grande, dijo: Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu. Y diciendo esto, expiró.

And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” Having said this, he breathed his last.

Así que vio el centurión lo que acababa de suceder, glorificó a Dios diciendo: Verdaderamente era éste un hombre justo.

Y como el centurión vió lo que había acontecido, dió gloria á Dios, diciendo: Verdaderamente este hombre era justo.

Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

When the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous man.”

Y todo aquel gentío que se hallaba presente a este espectáculo, considerando lo que había pasado, se volvía dándose golpes de pecho.

Y toda la multitud de los que estaban presentes á este espectáculo, viendo lo que había acontecido, se volvían hiriendo sus pechos.

And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

All the multitudes that came together to see this, when they saw the things that were done, returned home beating their chests.

Estaban al mismo tiempo todos los conocidos de Jesús y las mujeres que le habían seguido desde Galilea, observando de lejos estas cosas.

Mas todos sus conocidos, y las mujeres que le habían seguido desde Galilea, estaban lejos mirando estas cosas.

And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

All his acquaintances and the women who followed with him from Galilee stood at a distance, watching these things.

Entonces se dejó ver un senador llamado José, varón virtuoso y justo oriundo de Arimatea, ciudad de la Judea,

Y he aquí un varón llamado José, el cual era senador, varón bueno y justo,

And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

Behold, there was a man named Joseph, who was a member of the council, a good and righteous man

el cual no había consentido en el designio de los otros ni en lo que habían ejecutado; antes bien era de aquellos que esperaban también el reino de Dios.

(El cual no había consentido en el consejo ni en los hechos de ellos), de Arimatea, ciudad de la Judea, el cual también esperaba el reino de Dios;

(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.

(he had not consented to their counsel and deed), from Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who was also waiting for God’s Kingdom.

Este, pues, se presentó a Pilatos, y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesús .

Este llegó á Pilato, y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús.

This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

This man went to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.

Y habiéndolo descolgado de la cruz lo envolvió en una sábana, y lo colocó en un sepulcro abierto en peña viva, en donde ninguno hasta entonces había sido sepultado.

Y quitado, lo envolvió en una sábana, y le puso en un sepulcro abierto en una peña, en el cual ninguno había aún sido puesto.

And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

He took it down and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was cut in stone, where no one had ever been laid.

Era aquel el día que llamaban parasceve, o preparación, e iba ya a entrar el sábado.

Y era día de la víspera de la Pascua; y estaba para rayar el sábado.

And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

It was the day of the Preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near.

Las mujeres que habían seguido a Jesús desde Galilea, yendo en pos de José, observaron el sepulcro, y la manera con que había sido depositado el cuerpo de Jesús .

Y las mujeres que con él habían venido de Galilea, siguieron también y vieron el sepulcro, y cómo fué puesto su cuerpo.

And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

The women who had come with him out of Galilee followed after, and saw the tomb and how his body was laid.

Y al volverse, hicieron prevención de aromas y bálsamos; aunque durante el sábado se mantuvieron quietas según el mandamiento.

Y vueltas, aparejaron drogas aromáticas y ungüentos; y reposaron el sábado, conforme al mandamiento.

And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
