Es begab sich aber in jenen Tagen, daß eine Verordnung vom Kaiser Augustus ausging, es solle eine Volkszählung im ganzen römischen Reich vorgenommen werden.

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cæsar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
