Por esse tempo César Augusto, o imperador, decretou que se fizesse um recenseamento de todo o império romano.

Y ACONTECIÓ en aquellos días que salió edicto de parte de Augusto César, que toda la tierra fuese empadronada.

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cæsar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

Esse recenseamento foi feito quando Quirino era governador da Síria.

Exigia-se que todos fossem à sua terra natal para se registrar.

E como José era da linhagem de Davi, teve de ir a Belém, na Judeia, terra natal do rei Davi, viajando de Nazaré, na Galiléia, para lá.

Y subió José de Galilea, de la ciudad de Nazaret, á Judea, á la ciudad de David, que se llama Bethlehem, por cuanto era de la casa y familia de David;

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judæa, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

Ele levou consigo Maria, sua esposa, que estava grávida.

Estando ali, chegou a hora de nascer o filho dela;

Y aconteció que estando ellos allí, se cumplieron los días en que ella había de parir.

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

e ela deu à luz seu primeiro filho, um menino. Enrolou-o num cobertor e o deitou numa manjedoura, porque não havia lugar para eles na hospedaria.

Y parió á su hijo primogénito, y le envolvió en pañales, y acostóle en un pesebre, porque no había lugar para ellos en el mesón.

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Naquela noite alguns pastores estavam nos campos, guardando seus rebanhos de ovelhas.

Y había pastores en la misma tierra, que velaban y guardaban las vigilias de la noche sobre su ganado.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.

De repente um anjo do Senhor apareceu ao redor deles, e ficaram cercados do brilho da glória do Senhor. Eles ficaram muito aterrorizados,

Y he aquí el ángel del Señor vino sobre ellos, y la claridad de Dios los cercó de resplandor; y tuvieron gran temor.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

Behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

mas o anjo os acalmou. “Não tenham medo!”, disse ele. “Eu lhes trago boas notícias de grande alegria, e isso é para todo o povo!

Mas el ángel les dijo: No temáis; porque he aquí os doy nuevas de gran gozo, que será para todo el pueblo:

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.

Hoje, na cidade de Davi nasceu o Salvador, que é o Cristo, o Senhor.

Que os ha nacido hoy, en la ciudad de David, un Salvador, que es CRISTO el Señor.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

For there is born to you today, in David’s city, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Como vocês vão reconhecê-lo? Vocês encontrarão uma criancinha enrolada num cobertor, deitada numa manjedoura!”

Y esto os será por señal: hallaréis al niño envuelto en pañales, echado en un pesebre.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.”

De repente, juntou-se ao anjo uma grande multidão de anjos, o exército celestial, louvando a Deus e cantando:

Y repentinamente fué con el ángel una multitud de los ejércitos celestiales, que alababan á Dios, y decían:

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God and saying,

“Glória a Deus nas maiores alturas, e paz na terra para todos aqueles que ele quer bem”.

Gloria en las alturas á Dios, y en la tierra paz, buena voluntad para con los hombres.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Quando os anjos voltaram para os céus, os pastores disseram uns aos outros: “Vamos! Vamos a Belém! Vamos ver essa coisa maravilhosa que aconteceu, a respeito da qual o Senhor nos falou”.

Y aconteció que como los ángeles se fueron de ellos al cielo, los pastores dijeron los unos á los otros: Pasemos pues hasta Bethlehem, y veamos esto que ha sucedido, que el Señor nos ha manifestado.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

Eles correram para lá e encontraram Maria e José, e lá estava a criancinha, deitada na manjedoura.

Y vinieron apriesa, y hallaron á María, y á José, y al niño acostado en el pesebre.

And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

Depois de o verem, os pastores falavam a todos o que havia acontecido, e o que o anjo lhes havia dito a respeito daquele menino.

Y viéndolo, hicieron notorio lo que les había sido dicho del niño.

And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child.

E todos os que ouviam a história dos pastores ficaram admirados.

Y todos los que oyeron, se maravillaron de lo que los pastores les decían.

And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds.

Maria, porém, guardava todas essas coisas em seu coração e muitas vezes refletia sobre elas.

Então os pastores voltaram aos seus campos e rebanhos, glorificando e louvando a Deus por tudo que tinham visto e ouvido, assim como o anjo havia dito.

Oito dias depois, na cerimônia de circuncisão do menino, deram-lhe o nome de Jesus, como o anjo tinha dito, antes mesmo que ele nascesse.

Y pasados los ocho días para circuncidar al niño, llamaron su nombre JESÚS; el cual le fué puesto por el ángel antes que él fuese concebido en el vientre.

And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Quando chegou o tempo de ser levada ao templo a oferta da purificação de Maria, de acordo com a Lei de Moisés, José e Maria o levaram a Jerusalém para apresentá-lo ao Senhor;

Y como se cumplieron los días de la purificación de ella, conforme á la ley de Moisés, le trajeron á Jerusalem para presentarle al Señor,

And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

porque as leis do Senhor diziam: “Todo primeiro filho do sexo masculino será consagrado ao Senhor”.

Nessa ocasião, os pais de Jesus ofereceram também o sacrifício deles pela purificação, conforme a Lei do Senhor: um par de rolinhas, ou dois filhotes de pombo.

Y para dar la ofrenda, conforme á lo que está dicho en la ley del Señor: un par de tórtolas, ó dos palominos.

And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

Naquele dia, um homem chamado Simeão, morador de Jerusalém, estava no templo. Era ele um homem bom, muito devoto, cheio do Espírito Santo, e vivia esperando a consolação de Israel.

Y he aquí, había un hombre en Jerusalem, llamado Simeón, y este hombre, justo y pío, esperaba la consolación de Israel: y el Espíritu Santo era sobre él.

And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

O Espírito Santo lhe havia revelado que ele não morreria enquanto não visse o Cristo enviado pelo Senhor.

Y había recibido respuesta del Espíritu Santo, que no vería la muerte antes que viese al Cristo del Señor.

And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

O Espírito Santo o impulsionou a ir ao templo naquele dia; então, quando Maria e José chegaram para apresentar o menino Jesus ao Senhor, em obediência à lei,

Y vino por Espíritu al templo. Y cuando metieron al niño Jesús sus padres en el templo, para hacer por él conforme á la costumbre de la ley,

And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

Simeão estava lá e tomou a criança nos braços e louvou a Deus, dizendo:

Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

“Ó Soberano, agora já pode despedir o seu servo em paz!

Ahora despides, Señor, á tu siervo, conforme á tu palabra, en paz;

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

“Now you are releasing your servant, Master, according to your word, in peace;

Pois eu já vi com meus próprios olhos a sua salvação,

Porque han visto mis ojos tu salvación,

For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

for my eyes have seen your salvation,

que o Senhor preparou na presença de todos os povos.

La cual has aparejado en presencia de todos los pueblos;

Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

which you have prepared before the face of all peoples;

Ele é a luz que trará iluminação espiritual às nações, e será a glória do seu povo Israel”.

Luz para ser revelada á los Gentiles, y la gloria de tu pueblo Israel.

A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel.”

O pai e a mãe do menino estavam admirados com o que se dizia a respeito de Jesus.

Y José y su madre estaban maravillados de las cosas que se decían de él.

And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

Joseph and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him.

Simeão os abençoou e disse a Maria, mãe de Jesus: “Esta criança será rejeitada por muitos em Israel, e isto para própria destruição deles. Ele será motivo de contradição, mas uma grande alegria para outros.

Y los bendijo Simeón, y dijo á su madre María: He aquí, éste es puesto para caída y para levantamiento de muchos en Israel; y para señal á la que será contradicho;

And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against.

E os pensamentos mais profundos de muitos corações serão revelados. E a tristeza, como uma espada, atravessará a sua alma”.

Y una espada traspasará tu alma de ti misma, para que sean manifestados los pensamientos de muchos corazones.

(Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Ana, uma profetisa, também estava ali no templo naquele dia. Ela era filha de Fanuel, da tribo de Aser, e era muito idosa. Ela tinha vivido com seu marido por sete anos depois de se casar

Estaba también allí Ana, profetisa, hija de Phanuel, de la tribu de Aser; la cual había venido en grande edad, y había vivido con su marido siete años desde su virginidad;

And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

e era viúva de 84 anos. Ela nunca saía do templo, mas permanecia lá, adorando a Deus, jejuando e orando dia e noite.

Y era viuda de hasta ochenta y cuatro años, que no se apartaba del templo, sirviendo de noche y de día con ayunos y oraciones.

And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshiping with fastings and petitions night and day.

Chegando naquela hora, também começou a dar graças a Deus e a proclamar publicamente a respeito do menino a todos aqueles de Jerusalém que haviam esperado a vinda do Salvador.

Y ésta, sobreviniendo en la misma hora, juntamente confesaba al Señor, y hablaba de él á todos los que esperaban la redención en Jerusalem.

And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for redemption in Jerusalem.

Quando os pais de Jesus acabaram de cumprir todas as exigências da Lei do Senhor, voltaram para a sua própria cidade, Nazaré, na Galileia.

Mas como cumplieron todas las cosas según la ley del Señor, se volvieron á Galilea, á su ciudad de Nazaret.

And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

Ali o menino começou a ficar forte e sadio, enchendo-se de sabedoria; e a graça de Deus estava sobre ele.

Y el niño crecía, y fortalecíase, y se henchía de sabiduría; y la gracia de Dios era sobre él.

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

Todos os anos os pais de Jesus iam para Jerusalém para a festa da Páscoa.

E iban sus padres todos los años á Jerusalem en la fiesta de la Pascua.

Quando Jesus completou 12 anos de idade, acompanhou seus pais para a festa, conforme o costume.

Depois que terminou a comemoração, eles tomaram o caminho de volta para casa, mas o menino Jesus ficou para trás em Jerusalém. Seus pais não notaram a falta dele.

And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

Eles pensavam que estivesse com amigos entre os outros viajantes. Mas quando notaram sua falta, começaram a procurá-lo entre seus parentes e amigos;

Y pensando que estaba en la compañía, anduvieron camino de un día; y le buscaban entre los parientes y entre los conocidos:

But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

não o encontrando, voltaram a Jerusalém para procurá-lo ali.

Três dias depois eles finalmente o acharam. Ele estava no templo, sentado entre os mestres da lei, discutindo com eles questões profundas,

Y aconteció, que tres días después le hallaron en el templo, sentado en medio de los doctores, oyéndoles y preguntándoles.

And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

e deixando todo mundo admirado com o seu entendimento e com as suas respostas.

Y todos los que le oían, se pasmaban de su entendimiento y de sus respuestas.

Seus pais não sabiam nem o que pensar quando o viram sentado ali tão calmamente. “Filho!”, disse-lhe a sua mãe. “Por que você fez isso conosco? Eu e seu pai estávamos desesperados, procurando você por toda parte”.

Y cuando le vieron, se maravillaron; y díjole su madre: Hijo, ¿por qué nos has hecho así? He aquí, tu padre y yo te hemos buscado con dolor.

And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

When they saw him, they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your father and I were anxiously looking for you.”

“Mas por que estavam me procurando?”, perguntou ele. “Não sabiam que eu deveria estar na casa do meu Pai?”

Entonces él les dice: ¿Qué hay? ¿por qué me buscabais? ¿No sabíais que en los negocios de mi Padre me conviene estar?

And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

Porém eles não entenderam o que ele quis dizer.

Mas ellos no entendieron las palabras que les habló.

And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

They didn’t understand the saying which he spoke to them.

Então ele voltou para Nazaré, e era obediente a eles. Sua mãe, porém, guardava todas estas coisas no coração.

Y descendió con ellos, y vino á Nazaret, y estaba sujeto á ellos. Y su madre guardaba todas estas cosas en su corazón.

And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

Assim, Jesus crescia em sabedoria e estatura e era amado por Deus e pelos homens.

Y Jesús crecía en sabiduría, y en edad, y en gracia para con Dios y los hombres.
