Es begab sich aber in jenen Tagen, daß ein Befehl ausging vom Kaiser Augustus, daß alle Welt sich sollte schätzen lassen.

Y ACONTECIÓ en aquellos días que salió edicto de parte de Augusto César, que toda la tierra fuese empadronada.

Es begab sich aber, während sie daselbst waren, da erfüllten sich die Tage, daß sie gebären sollte.

Y aconteció que estando ellos allí, se cumplieron los días en que ella había de parir.

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

Und es waren Hirten in derselben Gegend auf dem Felde, die bewachten des Nachts ihre Herde.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

Und siehe, ein Engel des Herrn trat zu ihnen, und die Klarheit des Herrn umleuchtete sie; und sie fürchteten sich sehr.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

Und der Engel sprach zu ihnen: Fürchtet euch nicht! Denn siehe, ich verkündige euch große Freude, die dem ganzen Volk widerfahren soll.

Denn euch ist heute ein Retter geboren, welcher ist Christus, der Herr, in der Stadt Davids.

Que os ha nacido hoy, en la ciudad de David, un Salvador, que es CRISTO el Señor.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

For there is born to you today, in David’s city, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Und das sei für euch das Zeichen: Ihr werdet ein Kindlein finden, in Windeln gewickelt und in einer Krippe liegend.

Y esto os será por señal: hallaréis al niño envuelto en pañales, echado en un pesebre.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.”

Und plötzlich war bei dem Engel die Menge der himmlischen Heerscharen, die lobten Gott und sprachen:

Y repentinamente fué con el ángel una multitud de los ejércitos celestiales, que alababan á Dios, y decían:

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Und es begab sich, als die Engel von ihnen gen Himmel fuhren, sprachen die Hirten zueinander: Laßt uns doch bis nach Bethlehem gehen und die Sache sehen, die da geschehen ist, die der Herr uns kundgetan hat!

Y aconteció que como los ángeles se fueron de ellos al cielo, los pastores dijeron los unos á los otros: Pasemos pues hasta Bethlehem, y veamos esto que ha sucedido, que el Señor nos ha manifestado.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

Und sie gingen eilends und fanden Maria und Joseph, dazu das Kindlein in der Krippe liegend.

Y vinieron apriesa, y hallaron á María, y á José, y al niño acostado en el pesebre.

And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

Nachdem sie es aber gesehen hatten, machten sie das Wort kund, das ihnen von diesem Kinde gesagt worden war.

And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

Und alle, die es hörten, verwunderten sich über das, was ihnen von den Hirten gesagt wurde.

Y todos los que oyeron, se maravillaron de lo que los pastores les decían.

And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

Und er kam auf Antrieb des Geistes in den Tempel. Und als die Eltern das Kindlein Jesus hineinbrachten, um mit ihm zu verfahren nach der Sitte des Gesetzes,

And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

Nun, Herr, entlässest du deinen Diener in Frieden nach deinem Wort!

“Now you are releasing your servant, Master, according to your word, in peace;

Denn meine Augen haben dein Heil gesehen,

Porque han visto mis ojos tu salvación,

For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

for my eyes have seen your salvation,

welches du angesichts aller Völker bereitet hast,

La cual has aparejado en presencia de todos los pueblos;

Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

which you have prepared before the face of all peoples;

ein Licht zur Erleuchtung der Heiden und zur Verherrlichung deines Volkes Israel!

Luz para ser revelada á los Gentiles, y la gloria de tu pueblo Israel.

A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel.”

Und sein Vater und seine Mutter verwunderten sich über das, was von ihm gesagt wurde.

Y José y su madre estaban maravillados de las cosas que se decían de él.

And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

Und Simeon segnete sie und sprach zu Maria, seiner Mutter: Siehe, dieser ist gesetzt zum Fall und zum Auferstehen vieler in Israel und zu einem Zeichen, dem widersprochen wird

And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against.

und dir selbst wird ein Schwert durch die Seele dringen, auf daß aus vielen Herzen die Gedanken offenbar werden.

Y una espada traspasará tu alma de ti misma, para que sean manifestados los pensamientos de muchos corazones.

(Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Und es war eine Prophetin Hanna, eine Tochter Phanuels, aus dem Stamm Asser, die war hochbetagt, nachdem sie mit ihrem Manne sieben Jahre gelebt hatte nach ihrer Jungfrauschaft;

Estaba también allí Ana, profetisa, hija de Phanuel, de la tribu de Aser; la cual había venido en grande edad, y había vivido con su marido siete años desde su virginidad;

Y era viuda de hasta ochenta y cuatro años, que no se apartaba del templo, sirviendo de noche y de día con ayunos y oraciones.

And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshiping with fastings and petitions night and day.

Auch diese trat zu derselben Stunde hinzu und pries Gott und redete von ihm zu allen, die auf Jerusalems Erlösung warteten.

Y ésta, sobreviniendo en la misma hora, juntamente confesaba al Señor, y hablaba de él á todos los que esperaban la redención en Jerusalem.

And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

Und nachdem sie alles vollbracht hatten nach dem Gesetze des Herrn, kehrten sie zurück nach Galiläa, in ihre Stadt Nazareth.

Das Kindlein aber wuchs und ward stark, erfüllt mit Weisheit, und Gottes Gnade war auf ihm.

But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

Y cuando le vieron, se maravillaron; y díjole su madre: Hijo, ¿por qué nos has hecho así? He aquí, tu padre y yo te hemos buscado con dolor.

And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

When they saw him, they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your father and I were anxiously looking for you.”

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was habt ihr mich gesucht? Wußtet ihr nicht, daß ich sein muß in dem, was meines Vaters ist?

Entonces él les dice: ¿Qué hay? ¿por qué me buscabais? ¿No sabíais que en los negocios de mi Padre me conviene estar?

And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

Und sie verstanden das Wort nicht, das er zu ihnen sagte.

Mas ellos no entendieron las palabras que les habló.

And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

Und er ging mit ihnen hinab und kam gen Nazareth und war ihnen untertan. Und seine Mutter behielt alle diese Worte in ihrem Herzen.

And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
