ORA, dopo ch'egli ebbe finiti tutti questi suoi ragionamenti, udente il popolo, entrò in Capernaum.

Y COMO acabó todas sus palabras oyéndole el pueblo, entró en Capernaum.

Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

E il servitore di un certo centurione, il quale gli era molto caro, era malato, e stava per morire.

Y el siervo de un centurión, al cual tenía él en estima, estaba enfermo y á punto de morir.

And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.

A certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.

Or il centurione, avendo udito parlar di Gesù, gli mandò degli anziani de' Giudei, pregandolo che venisse, e salvasse il suo servitore.

Y como oyó hablar de Jesús, envió á él los ancianos de los Judíos, rogándole que viniese y librase á su siervo.

And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.

When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his servant.

Ed essi, venuti a Gesù, lo pregarono instantemente, dicendo: Egli è degno che tu gli conceda questo;

Y viniendo ellos á Jesús, rogáronle con diligencia, diciéndole: Porque es digno de concederle esto;

And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:

When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy for you to do this for him,

perciocchè egli ama la nostra nazione, ed egli è quel che ci ha edificata la sinagoga.

Que ama nuestra nación, y él nos edificó una sinagoga.

For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.

for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.”

E Gesù andava con loro. E come egli già era non molto lungi dalla casa, il centurione gli mandò degli amici, per dirgli: Signore, non faticarti, perciocchè io non son degno che tu entri sotto al mio tetto.

Y Jesús fué con ellos. Mas como ya no estuviesen lejos de su casa, envió el centurión amigos á él, diciéndole: Señor, no te incomodes, que no soy digno que entres debajo de mi tejado;

Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:

Perciò ancora, non mi son reputato degno di venire a te ma comanda solo con una parola, e il mio servitore sarà guarito.

Por lo cual ni aun me tuve por digno de venir á ti; mas di la palabra, y mi siervo será sano.

Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

Therefore I didn’t even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.

Perciocchè io sono uomo sottoposto alla podestà altrui, ed ho sotto di me de' soldati; e pure, se dico all'uno: Va', egli va; se all'altro: Vieni, egli viene; e se dico al mio servitore: Fa' questo, egli lo fa.

Porque también yo soy hombre puesto en potestad, que tengo debajo de mí soldados; y digo á éste: Ve, y va; y al otro: Ven, y viene; y á mi siervo: Haz esto, y lo hace.

For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

E Gesù, udite queste cose, si maravigliò di lui, e rivoltosi, disse alla moltitudine che lo seguitava: Io vi dico, che non pure in Israele ho trovata una cotanta fede.

Lo cual oyendo Jesús, se maravilló de él, y vuelto, dijo á las gentes que le seguían: Os digo que ni aun en Israel he hallado tanta fe.

When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.”

E quando coloro ch'erano stati mandati furon tornati a casa, trovarono il servitore ch'era stato infermo esser sano.

Y vueltos á casa los que habían sido enviados, hallaron sano al siervo que había estado enfermo.

And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well.

ED avvenne nel giorno seguente, che egli andava in una città, detta Nain; e i suoi discepoli, in gran numero, e una gran moltitudine andavano con lui.

Y aconteció después, que él iba á la ciudad que se llama Naín, é iban con él muchos de sus discípulos, y gran compañía.

And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

Soon afterwards, he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him.

E come egli fu presso della porta della città, ecco, si portava a seppellire un morto, figliuolo unico di sua madre, la quale ancora era vedova, e gran moltitudine della città era con lei.

Y como llegó cerca de la puerta de la ciudad, he aquí que sacaban fuera á un difunto, unigénito de su madre, la cual también era viuda: y había con ella grande compañía de la ciudad.

Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

Now when he came near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only born son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her.

E il Signore, vedutala, ebbe pietà di lei, e le disse: Non piangere.

Y como el Señor la vió, compadecióse de ella, y le dice: No llores.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Don’t cry.”

Ed accostatosi, toccò la bara (or i portatori si fermarono), e disse: Giovanetto, io tel dico, levati.

Y acercándose, tocó el féretro: y los que lo llevaban, pararon. Y dice: Mancebo, á ti digo, levántate.

And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!”

E il morto si levò a sedere, e cominciò a parlare. E Gesù lo diede a sua madre.

Entonces se incorporó el que había muerto, y comenzó á hablar. Y dióle á su madre.

And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

He who was dead sat up and began to speak. Then he gave him to his mother.

E spavento li occupò tutti, e glorificavano Iddio, dicendo: Un gran profeta è sorto fra noi; Iddio ha visitato il suo popolo.

Y todos tuvieron miedo, y glorificaban á Dios, diciendo: Que un gran profeta se ha levantado entre nosotros; y que Dios ha visitado á su pueblo.

And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited his people!”

E questo ragionamento intorno a lui si sparse per tutta la Giudea, e per tutto il paese circonvicino.

Y salió esta fama de él por toda Judea, y por toda la tierra de alrededor.

And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judæa, and throughout all the region round about.

This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea and in all the surrounding region.

OR i discepoli di Giovanni gli rapportarono tutte queste cose.

Y sus discípulos dieron á Juan las nuevas de todas estas cosas: y llamó Juan á dos de sus discípulos,

And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things.

The disciples of John told him about all these things.

Ed egli, chiamati a sè due de' suoi discepoli, li mandò a Gesù, a dirgli: Sei tu colui che ha da venire, o pur ne aspetteremo noi un altro?

Y envió á Jesús, diciendo: ¿Eres tú aquél que había de venir, ó esperaremos á otro?

And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?”

Quegli uomini adunque, essendo venuti a Gesù, gli dissero: Giovanni Battista ci ha mandati a te, a dirti: Sei tu colui che ha da venire, o pur ne aspetteremo noi un altro?

Y como los hombres vinieron á él, dijeron: Juan el Bautista nos ha enviado á ti, diciendo: ¿Eres tú aquél que había de venir, ó esperaremos á otro?

When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

When the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptizer has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?’”

(Or in quella stessa ora egli ne guarì molti d'infermità, e di flagelli, e di spiriti maligni; ed a molti ciechi donò il vedere)

Y en la misma hora sanó á muchos de enfermedades y plagas, y de espíritus malos; y á muchos ciegos dió la vista.

And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.

E Gesù, rispondendo, disse loro: Andate, e rapportate a Giovanni le cose che avete vedute ed udite: che i ciechi ricoverano la vista, che gli zoppi camminano, che i lebbrosi son nettati, che i sordi odono, che i morti sono risuscitati, che l'evangelo è annunziato a' poveri.

Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Id, dad las nuevas á Juan de lo que habéis visto y oído: que los ciegos ven, los cojos andan, los leprosos son limpiados, los sordos oyen, los muertos resucitan, á los pobres es anunciado el evangelio:

Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

E beato è chi non sarà stato scandalezzato in me.

Y bienaventurado es el que no fuere escandalizado en mí.

And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”

E quando i messi di Giovanni se ne furono andati, egli prese a dire alle turbe, intorno a Giovanni: Che andaste voi a veder nel deserto? una canna dimenata dal vento?

Y como se fueron los mensajeros de Juan, comenzó á hablar de Juan á las gentes: ¿Qué salisteis á ver al desierto? ¿una caña que es agitada por el viento?

And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

When John’s messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

Ma pure che andaste voi a vedere? un uomo vestito di vestimenti morbidi? ecco, coloro che usano vestimenti magnifici, e vivono in delizie, stanno ne' palazzi dei re.

Mas ¿qué salisteis á ver? ¿un hombre cubierto de vestidos delicados? He aquí, los que están en vestido precioso, y viven en delicias, en los palacios de los reyes están.

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts.

But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed and live delicately are in kings’ courts.

Ma pure, che andaste voi a vedere? un profeta? certo, io vi dico, uno eziandio più che profeta.

Mas ¿qué salisteis á ver? ¿un profeta? También os digo, y aun más que profeta.

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.

Egli è quello del quale è scritto: Ecco, io mando il mio messo davanti alla tua faccia, il quale preparerà il tuo cammino dinanzi a te.

Este es de quien está escrito: He aquí, envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz, el cual aparejará tu camino delante de ti.

This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

This is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’

Perciocchè io vi dico che fra coloro che son nati di donna, non vi è profeta alcuno maggior di Giovanni Battista; ma il minimo nel regno di Dio è maggior di lui.

Porque os digo que entre los nacidos de mujeres, no hay mayor profeta que Juan el Bautista: mas el más pequeño en el reino de los cielos es mayor que él.

For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

“For I tell you, among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in God’s Kingdom is greater than he.”

E tutto il popolo, e i pubblicani ch'erano stati battezzati del battesimo di Giovanni, udite queste cose, giustificarono Iddio.

Y todo el pueblo oyéndole, y los publicanos, justificaron á Dios, bautizándose con el bautismo de Juan.

And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.

When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they declared God to be just, having been baptized with John’s baptism.

Ma i Farisei, e i dottori della legge, che non erano stati battezzati da lui, rigettarono a lor danno il consiglio di Dio.

Mas los Fariseos y los sabios de la ley, desecharon el consejo de Dios contra sí mismos, no siendo bautizados de él.

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God, not being baptized by him themselves.

E il Signore disse: A chi dunque assomiglierò gli uomini di questa generazione? ed a chi sono essi simili?

Y dice el Señor: ¿A quién, pues, compararé los hombres de esta generación, y á qué son semejantes?

And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?

“To what then should I compare the people of this generation? What are they like?

Son simili a' fanciulli che seggono in su la piazza, e gridano gli uni agli altri, e dicono: Noi vi abbiamo sonato, e voi non avete ballato; vi abbiamo cantate canzoni lamentevoli, e voi non avete pianto.

Semejantes son á los muchachos sentados en la plaza, y que dan voces los unos á los otros, y dicen: Os tañimos con flautas, y no bailasteis: os endechamos, y no llorasteis.

They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.

They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, saying, ‘We piped to you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned, and you didn’t weep.’

Perciocchè Giovanni Battista è venuto, non mangiando pane, nè bevendo vino, e voi avete detto: Egli ha il demonio.

Porque vino Juan el Bautista, que ni comía pan, ni bebía vino, y decís: Demonio tiene.

For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.

For John the Baptizer came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’

Il Figliuol dell'uomo è venuto, mangiando, e bevendo, e voi dite: Ecco un uomo mangiatore, e bevitor di vino, amico di pubblicani, e di peccatori.

Vino el Hijo del hombre, que come y bebe, y decís: He aquí un hombre comilón, y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y de pecadores.

The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

Ma la Sapienza è stata giustificata da tutti i suoi figliuoli.

Mas la sabiduría es justificada de todos sus hijos.

But wisdom is justified of all her children.

Wisdom is justified by all her children.”

OR uno de' Farisei lo pregò a mangiare in casa sua; ed egli, entrato in casa del Fariseo, si mise a tavola.

Y le rogó uno de los Fariseos, que comiese con él. Y entrado en casa del Fariseo, sentóse á la mesa.

And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.

One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee’s house and sat at the table.

Ed ecco, vi era in quella città una donna ch'era stata peccatrice, la quale, avendo saputo ch'egli era a tavola in casa del Fariseo, portò un alberello d'olio odorifero.

Y he aquí una mujer que había sido pecadora en la ciudad, como entendió que estaba á la mesa en casa de aquel Fariseo, trajo un alabastro de ungüento,

And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster jar of ointment.

E stando a' piedi di esso, di dietro, piangendo, prese a rigargli di lagrime i piedi, e li asciugava co' capelli del suo capo; e gli baciava i piedi, e li ungeva con l'olio.

Y estando detrás á sus pies, comenzó llorando á regar con lágrimas sus pies, y los limpiaba con los cabellos de su cabeza; y besaba sus pies, y los ungía con el ungüento.

And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

E il Fariseo che l'avea convitato, avendo veduto ciò, disse fra sè medesimo: Costui, se fosse profeta, conoscerebbe pur chi, e quale sia questa donna che lo tocca; perciocchè ella è una peccatrice.

Y como vió esto el Fariseo que le había convidado, habló entre sí, diciendo: Este, si fuera profeta, conocería quién y cuál es la mujer que le toca, que es pecadora.

Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.”

E Gesù gli fece motto, e disse: Simone, io ho qualche cosa a dirti. Ed egli disse: Maestro, di' pure.

Entonces respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Simón, una cosa tengo que decirte. Y él dice: Di, Maestro.

And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.

Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” He said, “Teacher, say on.”

E Gesù gli disse: Un creditore avea due debitori; l'uno gli dovea cinquecento denari, e l'altro cinquanta.

Un acreedor tenía dos deudores: el uno le debía quinientos denarios, y el otro cincuenta;

There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.

“A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.

E non avendo essi di che pagare, egli rimise il debito ad amendue. Di' adunque, qual di loro l'amerà più?

Y no teniendo ellos de qué pagar, perdonó á ambos. Di, pues, ¿cuál de éstos le amará más?

And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

When they couldn’t pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?”

E Simone, rispondendo, disse: Io stimo colui a cui egli ha più rimesso. E Gesù gli disse: Tu hai dirittamente giudicato.

Y respondiendo Simón, dijo: Pienso que aquél al cual perdonó más. Y él le dijo: Rectamente has juzgado.

Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

Simon answered, “He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most.” He said to him, “You have judged correctly.”

E rivoltosi alla donna, disse a Simone: Vedi questa donna; io sono entrato in casa tua, e tu non mi hai dato dell'acqua a' piedi; ma ella mi ha rigati di lagrime i piedi, e li ha asciugati coi capelli del suo capo.

Y vuelto á la mujer, dijo á Simón: ¿Ves esta mujer? Entré en tu casa, no diste agua para mis pies; mas ésta ha regado mis pies con lágrimas, y los ha limpiado con los cabellos.

And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.

Tu non mi hai dato neppure un bacio; ma costei, da che è entrata, non è mai restata di baciarmi i piedi.

No me diste beso, mas ésta, desde que entré, no ha cesado de besar mis pies.

Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.

You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.

Tu non mi hai unto il capo d'olio; ma ella mi ha unti i piedi d'olio odorifero.

No ungiste mi cabeza con óleo; mas ésta ha ungido con ungüento mis pies.

My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.

Per tanto, io ti dico, che i suoi peccati, che sono in gran numero, le son rimessi, perchè ella ha molto amato; ma a chi poco è rimesso poco ama.

Por lo cual te digo que sus muchos pecados son perdonados, porque amó mucho; mas al que se perdona poco, poco ama.

Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.”

Poi disse a colei: I tuoi peccati ti son rimessi.

Y á ella dijo: Los pecados te son perdonados.

And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

E coloro ch'eran con lui a tavola presero a dire fra loro stessi: Chi è costui, il quale eziandio rimette i peccati?

Y los que estaban juntamente sentados á la mesa, comenzaron á decir entre sí: ¿Quién es éste, que también perdona pecados?

And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?

Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

Ma Gesù disse alla donna: La tua fede ti ha salvata; vattene in pace.

Y dijo á la mujer: Tu fe te ha salvado, ve en paz.

And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”
