29Decía eso porque Jesús le había ordenado al espíritu maligno que saliera del hombre. Ese espíritu se había apoderado de él muchas veces. Al hombre le ponían cadenas en los pies y en las manos para sujetarlo, y lo mantenían vigilado, pero él rompía las cadenas y el demonio lo hacía huir a lugares solitarios.

29(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

29For Jesus was commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For the unclean spirit had often seized the man. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and fetters. Breaking the bonds apart, he was driven by the demon into the desert.
