Lucas 9

Habiendo reunido a sus doce discípulos, les dio poder y autoridad sobre todos los demonios, y para sanar enfermedades.

Y JUNTANDO á sus doce discípulos, les dió virtud y potestad sobre todos los demonios, y que sanasen enfermedades.

Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

Y les dijo: No tomen nada para el camino, ni bordón, ni alforja, ni pan, ni dinero; ni lleven dos túnicas.

And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

Y en cualquier casa donde entren, queden allí, y de allí salgan.

And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.

Y dondequiera que no les recibieren, salgan de aquella ciudad, y sacudan el polvo de sus †de ustedes pies en testimonio contra ellos.

Y todos los que no os recibieren, saliéndoos de aquella ciudad, aun el polvo sacudid de vuestros pies en testimonio contra ellos.

And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

As many as don’t receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them.”

Y saliendo, pasaban por todas las aldeas, anunciando el evangelio y sanando por todas partes.

Vueltos los apóstoles, le contaron todo lo que habían hecho. Y tomándolos, se retiró «aparte,» a un lugar desierto de la ciudad llamada Betsaida.

And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

Y cuando la gente lo supo, le siguió; y él les recibió, y les hablaba del reino de Dios, y sanaba a los que necesitaban ser curados.

And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed him. He welcomed them, spoke to them of God’s Kingdom, and he cured those who needed healing.

Pero el día comenzaba a declinar; y acercándose los doce, le dijeron: Despide a la gente, para que vayan a las aldeas y campos de alrededor, y se alojen y encuentren alimentos; porque aquí estamos en lugar desierto.

And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.

Y eran como cinco mil hombres. Entonces dijo a sus discípulos: Háganlos sentar en grupos, de cincuenta en cincuenta.

And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

Sucedió que mientras Jesús oraba aparte, estaban con él los discípulos; y les preguntó, diciendo: ¿Quién dice la gente que soy yo?

Y aconteció que estando él solo orando, estaban con él los discípulos; y les preguntó diciendo: ¿Quién dicen las gentes que soy?

And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?

As he was praying alone, the disciples were near him, and he asked them, “Who do the multitudes say that I am?”

Ellos respondieron: Unos, Juan el Bautista; otros, Elías; y otros, que algún profeta de los antiguos ha resucitado.

They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

They answered, “‘John the Baptizer,’ but others say, ‘Elijah,’ and others, that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

Él les dijo: ¿Y ustedes, quién dicen que soy? Entonces respondiendo Pedro, dijo: El Cristo de Dios.

He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.

Pero él les mandó que a nadie dijesen esto, encargándoselo rigurosamente,

And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;

y diciendo : Es necesario que el Hijo del Hombre sufra †padezca muchas cosas, y sea desechado por los ancianos, por los principales sacerdotes y por los escribas, y que sea muerto, y resucite al tercer día.

Diciendo: Es necesario que el Hijo del hombre padezca muchas cosas, y sea desechado de los ancianos, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los escribas, y que sea muerto, y resucite al tercer día.

Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

Y decía a todos: Si alguno quiere venir detrás †en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz †TR: cada día, y sígame.

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Porque todo el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; y todo el que pierda su vida por causa de mí, éste la salvará.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake will save it.

Por lo tanto ¿qué aprovecha al hombre, si gana todo el mundo, y se destruye o se pierde a sí mismo?

Porque ¿qué aprovecha al hombre, si granjeare todo el mundo, y se pierda él á sí mismo, ó corra peligro de sí?

For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self?

Porque el que se avergonzare de mí y de mis palabras, de éste se avergonzará el Hijo del Hombre cuando venga en su gloria, y en la del Padre, y de los santos ángeles.

Porque el que se avergonzare de mí y de mis palabras, de este tal el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará cuando viniere en su gloria, y del Padre, y de los santos ángeles.

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.

For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels.

Pero les digo en verdad, que hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no gustarán la muerte hasta que vean el reino de Dios.

But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

Sucedió como ocho días después de estas palabras, que tomó a Pedro, a Juan y a Jacobo, y subió al monte a orar.

And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

Y Pedro y los que estaban con él estaban rendidos de sueño; mas permaneciendo despiertos, vieron la gloria de Jesús, y a los dos varones que estaban con él.

But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

Y sucedió que apartándose ellos de él, Pedro dijo a Jesús: Maestro, bueno es para nosotros que estemos aquí; y hagamos tres enramadas, una para ti, una para Moisés, y una para Elías; no sabiendo lo que decía.

And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.

As they were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah,” not knowing what he said.

Mientras él decía esto, vino una nube que los cubrió; y tuvieron temor al entrar en la nube.

While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

Y vino una voz desde la nube, que decía: Este es mi Hijo amado; a él escuchen.

And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Y cuando cesó la voz, Jesús fue hallado solo; y ellos callaron, y por aquellos días no dijeron nada a nadie de lo que habían visto.

And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

Al día siguiente, cuando descendieron del monte, una gran multitud les salió al encuentro.

And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.

Y he aquí, un hombre de la multitud clamó diciendo: Maestro, te ruego que veas a mi hijo, puesto que es el único que tengo;

And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child.

Behold, a man from the crowd called out, saying, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only born child.

y sucede que un espíritu le toma, y de repente da voces, y le sacude con violencia, y le hace echar espuma, y estropeándole, a duras penas se aparta de él.

Y he aquí un espíritu le toma, y de repente da voces; y le despedaza y hace echar espuma, y apenas se aparta de él quebrantándole.

And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.

Behold, a spirit takes him, he suddenly cries out, and it convulses him so that he foams; and it hardly departs from him, bruising him severely.

And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.

Respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Oh generación incrédula y perversa! ¿Hasta cuándo he de estar con ustedes, y les he de soportar? Trae acá a tu hijo.

Y respondiendo Jesús, dice: ¡Oh generación infiel y perversa! ¿hasta cuándo tengo de estar con vosotros, y os sufriré? Trae tu hijo acá.

And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.

Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.”

Y mientras se acercaba el muchacho, el demonio le derribó y le sacudió con violencia; pero Jesús reprendió al espíritu inmundo, y sanó al muchacho, y se lo devolvió a su padre.

Y como aun se acercaba, el demonio le derribó y despedazó: mas Jesús increpó al espíritu inmundo, y sanó al muchacho, y se lo volvió á su padre.

And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

While he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him violently. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.

Y todos se admiraban de la grandeza de Dios. Y maravillándose todos de todas las cosas que hacía TM †Jesús, dijo a sus discípulos:

And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,

They were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples,

Hagan que les penetren bien en los oídos estas palabras; porque sucederá que el Hijo del Hombre será entregado en manos de hombres.

Poned vosotros en vuestros oídos estas palabras; porque ha de acontecer que el Hijo del hombre será entregado en manos de hombres.

Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.

“Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men.”

Mas ellos no entendían estas declaraciones, puesto que les estaban veladas para que no las entendiesen; y temían preguntarle sobre esas declaraciones.

Mas ellos no entendían esta palabra, y les era encubierta para que no la entendiesen; y temían preguntarle de esta palabra.

But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

But they didn’t understand this saying. It was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

Entonces entraron en discusión sobre quién de ellos sería el mayor.

Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.

Y Jesús, percibiendo los pensamientos de sus corazones, tomó a un niño y lo puso junto a sí,

And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,

y les dijo: Cualquiera que reciba a este niño en mi nombre, a mí me recibe; y cualquiera que me recibe a mí, recibe al que me envió; porque el que es más pequeño entre todos ustedes, ése es el más grande.

Y les dice: Cualquiera que recibiere este niño en mi nombre, á mí recibe; y cualquiera que me recibiere á mí, recibe al que me envió; porque el que fuere el menor entre todos vosotros, éste será el grande.

And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

and said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For whoever is least among you all, this one will be great.”

Entonces respondiendo Juan, dijo: Maestro, hemos visto a uno que echaba fuera demonios en tu nombre; y se lo prohibimos, porque no sigue con nosotros.

And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

Jesús le dijo: No se lo prohíban; porque el que no es contra nosotros, por nosotros es.

And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

Cuando se cumplió el tiempo en que él había de ser recibido arriba, afirmó su rostro para ir a Jerusalén.

And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

Y envió mensajeros «delante de él,» los cuales fueron y entraron en una aldea de los samaritanos para hacerle preparativos.

Viendo esto sus discípulos Jacobo y Juan, dijeron: Señor, ¿quieres que mandemos que descienda fuego del cielo, como hizo Elías, y los consuma?

And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

Entonces volviéndose él, los reprendió, diciendo: Ustedes no saben de qué espíritu son;

But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

Yendo ellos, uno le dijo en el camino: Señor, te seguiré adondequiera que vayas.

Y aconteció que yendo ellos, uno le dijo en el camino: Señor, te seguiré donde quiera que fueres.

And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

As they went on the way, a certain man said to him, “I want to follow you wherever you go, Lord.”

Y le dijo Jesús: Las zorras tienen guaridas, y las aves de los cielos nidos; mas el Hijo del Hombre no tiene dónde recostar la cabeza.

Y le dijo Jesús: Las zorras tienen cuevas, y las aves de los cielos nidos; mas el Hijo del hombre no tiene donde recline la cabeza.

And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

Y dijo a otro: Sígueme. Él le dijo: Señor, déjame que primero vaya y entierre a mi padre.

And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

He said to another, “Follow me!” But he said, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”

Jesús le dijo: Deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos; y tú ve, y anuncia el reino de Dios.

Y Jesús le dijo: Deja los muertos que entierren á sus muertos; y tú, ve, y anuncia el reino de Dios.

Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

But Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce God’s Kingdom.”

Entonces también dijo otro: Te seguiré, Señor; pero déjame que me despida primero de los que están en mi casa.

And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

Y Jesús le dijo: Ninguno que poniendo su mano en el arado mira hacia atrás, es apto para el reino de Dios.

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for God’s Kingdom.”
