AHORA pues, oh sacerdotes, á vosotros es este mandamiento.

Si no cambian su conducta y le dan la importancia que merece mi gran fama, yo enviaré un castigo terrible sobre ustedes, y en vez de darles bendición, como me gustaría hacerlo, me volveré contra ustedes con toda clase de males. Por cierto, ya los he maldecido, porque ustedes no han tomado en serio las cosas que para mí son importantes, dice el Señor.
Si no oyereis, y si no acordareis dar gloria á mi nombre, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, enviaré maldición sobre vosotros, y maldeciré vuestras bendiciones; y aun las he maldecido, porque no lo ponéis en vuestro corazón.
If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

»Tengan en cuenta que cortaré su descendencia y arrojaré contra sus rostros los excrementos de estos animales que me ofrecen, y los echaré a ustedes fuera como si fueran basura.
He aquí, yo os daño la sementera, y esparciré el estiércol sobre vuestros rostros, el estiércol de vuestras solemnidades, y con él seréis removidos.

Entonces al fin sabrán que fui yo quien les dio la advertencia de que debían vivir guiándose en las instrucciones que di a su padre Leví. Lo digo yo, el Señor Todopoderoso.
Y sabréis que yo os envié este mandamiento, para que fuese mi pacto con Leví, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos.

El propósito del convenio que hice con él era proporcionarle una vida próspera y paz. Le di mis instrucciones para que aprendiera a respetarme, y él me obedeció y tuvo en muy alta estima mi gran fama.
Mi pacto fué con él de vida y de paz, las cuales cosas yo le dí por el temor; porque me temió, y delante de mi nombre estuvo humillado.

Él dio a conocer al pueblo todas las enseñanzas verdaderas que yo le había dado. Nunca intentó engañar a la gente; caminó de acuerdo a mi voluntad y consejos, vivió una vida buena y practicando la justicia, e hizo que muchos abandonaran su vida de maldad.
La ley de verdad estuvo en su boca, é iniquidad no fué hallada en sus labios: en paz y en justicia anduvo conmigo, y á muchos hizo apartar de la iniquidad.

»Los sacerdotes deberían encargarse de dar a conocer al pueblo mis instrucciones, y estar siempre dispuestos a enseñar las cosas buenas que yo quiero mi pueblo realice. ¡Ellos son los mensajeros del Señor Todopoderoso!
Porque los labios de los sacerdotes han de guardar la sabiduría, y de su boca buscarán la ley; porque mensajero es de Jehová de los ejércitos.

Pero ustedes en realidad han hecho lo contrario, con sus malos consejos y ejemplos han hecho que muchos se descarríen y hagan muchas cosas malas. Ustedes han hecho que el convenio que hice con Leví no valga nada. Lo digo yo, el Señor Todopoderoso.
Mas vosotros os habéis apartado del camino; habéis hecho tropezar á muchos en la ley; habéis corrompido el pacto de Leví, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

Por eso yo los he hecho despreciables a los ojos de todo el pueblo, porque no me han obedecido, y no han aplicado la ley en forma equitativa para todos».
Por tanto, yo también os torné viles y bajos á todo el pueblo, según que vosotros no habéis guardado mis caminos, y en la ley tenéis acepción de personas.

¿Acaso no tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No fuimos todos creados por el mismo Dios? Sin embargo, hemos actuado deslealmente unos con otros, pues no le damos la mínima atención al convenio que hicieron nuestros antepasados con el Señor.

En Judá, en Israel y en Jerusalén hay traición, porque los hombres de Judá han contaminado el santo templo del Señor que él tanto ama, al haberse ellos casado con mujeres paganas que adoran ídolos.
Prevaricó Judá, y en Israel y en Jerusalem ha sido cometida abominación; porque Judá ha profanado la santidad de Jehová que amó, y casádose con hija de dios extraño.

Jehová talará de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que hiciere esto, al que vela, y al que responde, y al que ofrece presente á Jehová de los ejércitos.

Además ustedes bañan el altar con sus lágrimas porque el Señor no hace caso ya de sus ofrendas, y ustedes no reciben más su bendición.
Y esta otra vez haréis cubrir el altar de Jehová de lágrimas, de llanto, y de clamor; así que no miraré más á presente, para aceptarlo con gusto de vuestra mano.

Y todavía se atreven a preguntar: «¿Por qué nos ha abandonado Dios?». Les diré por qué: Porque el Señor ha visto que ustedes no han cumplido su compromiso con aquellas mujeres con quienes se casaron cuando eran jóvenes.
Mas diréis: ¿Por qué? Porque Jehová ha atestiguado entre ti y la mujer de tu mocedad, contra la cual tú has sido desleal, siendo ella tu compañera, y la mujer de tu pacto.
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

Fueron unidos a sus esposas por el Señor. Dios, en su sabiduría, hizo que los dos llegaran a ser como una sola existencia delante de sus ojos cuando se casaron. ¿Qué es lo que él quiere? Hijos piadosos, producto de su unión. Por eso, ¡tengan cuidado de no ser infieles a la esposa de su juventud!
Pues qué ¿no hizo él uno solo aunque tenía la abundancia del espíritu? ¿Y por qué uno? Para que procurara una simiente de Dios. Guardaos pues en vuestros espíritus, y contra la mujer de vuestra mocedad no seáis desleales.

Porque el Señor, el Dios de Israel, dice que odia el divorcio y a los hombres crueles. Por eso, ¡tengan cuidado, no cometan ningún tipo de traición!
Porque Jehová Dios de Israel ha dicho que él aborrece que sea repudiada; y cubra la iniquidad con su vestido, dijo Jehová de los ejércitos. Guardaos pues en vuestros espíritus, y no seáis desleales.
For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

Ustedes han cansado al Señor con sus palabras, y todavía se atreven a preguntar «¿Cómo lo hemos cansado?». ¡Pues cuando dicen que el Señor se alegra con los que actúan mal, y que es injusto!
Habéis hecho cansar á Jehová con vuestras palabras. Y diréis: ¿En qué le hemos cansado? Cuando decís: Cualquiera que mal hace agrada á Jehová, y en los tales toma contentamiento: de otra manera, ¿dónde está el Dios de juicio?
Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
