“Ouçam: vou enviar o meu mensageiro, que irá antes de mim para preparar o caminho. De repente, o Senhor a quem vocês procuram virá ao seu templo; o mensageiro prometido por Deus, que lhes dará grande alegria. Sim, com certeza ele virá”, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
HE aquí, yo envío mi mensajero, el cual preparará el camino delante de mí: y luego vendrá á su templo el Señor á quien vosotros buscáis, y el ángel del pacto, á quien deseáis vosotros. He aquí viene, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos.
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me! The Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple. Behold, the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, is coming!” says the LORD of Armies.
“Mas quem sobreviverá no dia em que ele aparecer? Quem pode suportar a sua presença? Ele é como o fogo que purifica o ouro, como um sabão que limpa as roupas mais sujas!
¿Y quién podrá sufrir el tiempo de su venida? ó ¿quién podrá estar cuando él se mostrará? Porque él es como fuego purificador, y como jabón de lavadores.
But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:
“But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like launderers’ soap;
Vai sentar-se, como o purificador de prata, vigiando com atenção, até que todo o refugo tenha sido queimado. Purificará os levitas, os servos de Deus, e os limpará como se limpa o ouro e a prata. Assim, eles servirão ao Senhor com corações puros.
Y sentarse ha para afinar y limpiar la plata: porque limpiará los hijos de Leví, los afinará como á oro y como á plata; y ofrecerán á Jehová ofrenda con justicia.
And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Então as ofertas que o povo de Judá e Jerusalém trazem agradarão ao Senhor novamente, como nos tempos antigos.
Y será suave á Jehová la ofrenda de Judá y de Jerusalem, como en los días pasados, y como en los años antiguos.
Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

“Nessa época, vou levar o meu castigo: Serei rápido para testemunhar contra os feiticeiros, os adúlteros, os mentirosos, os que roubam o salário de seus empregados, os que exploram as viúvas e os órfãos, os que privam os estrangeiros dos seus direitos, enfim todos os que não me respeitam”, declara o Senhor dos Exércitos.
Y llegarme he á vosotros á juicio; y seré pronto testigo contra los hechiceros y adúlteros; y contra los que juran mentira, y los que detienen el salario del jornalero, de la viuda, y del huérfano, y los que hacen agravio al extranjero, no teniendo temor de mí, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.
And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

“Pois eu sou o Senhor e não mudo. Por isso, vocês, descendentes de Jacó, ainda não foram totalmente destruídos.
Porque yo Jehová, no me mudo; y así vosotros, hijos de Jacob, no habéis sido consumidos.
For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
“For I, the LORD, don’t change; therefore you, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.
Desde o princípio vocês têm desprezado as minhas leis e não as têm obedecido. Ainda é tempo de voltar para mim”, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, “e eu voltarei para vocês”. “Mas vocês perguntam: ‘Quando foi que deixamos o Senhor?’
Desde los días de vuestros padres os habéis apartado de mis leyes, y no las guardasteis. Tornaos á mí, y yo me tornaré á vosotros, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos. Mas dijisteis: ¿En qué hemos de tornar?

“Pode o homem roubar a Deus? Vocês, porém, têm roubado de mim. ‘O que o Senhor quer dizer com isso? Quando foi que o roubamos?’ “Vocês me roubaram nos dízimos e nas ofertas.
¿Robará el hombre á Dios? Pues vosotros me habéis robado. Y dijisteis: ¿En qué te hemos robado? Los diezmos y las primicias.
Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Por isso, a terrível maldição de Deus caiu sobre vocês. Toda a nação está me roubando.
Malditos sois con maldición, porque vosotros, la nación toda, me habéis robado.
Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
You are cursed with the curse; for you rob me, even this whole nation.
Tragam todos os dízimos aos depósitos do templo, para haver alimento suficiente em minha casa. Ponham-me à prova”, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, “e eu abrirei as janelas do céu e derramarei uma bênção tão grande que não terão lugar onde guardá-la.
Traed todos los diezmos al alfolí, y haya alimento en mi casa; y probadme ahora en esto, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, si no os abriré las ventanas de los cielos, y vaciaré sobre vosotros bendición hasta que sobreabunde.
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
“All nations shall call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says the LORD of Armies.
“Vocês têm sido arrogantes e orgulhosos comigo”, diz o Senhor. “Mas vocês replicam: ‘O que o Senhor quer dizer com isso? O que temos falado contra o Senhor?’
Vuestras palabras han prevalecido contra mí, dice Jehová. Y dijisteis: ¿Qué hemos hablado contra ti?
Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?
“Your words have been harsh against me,” says the LORD. “Yet you say, ‘What have we spoken against you?’
“Ouçam! Foi isto que vocês disseram: ‘É bobagem adorar e obedecer a Deus. Qual é a vantagem de obedecer às suas leis, de ficar triste e chorar diante do Senhor dos Exércitos?
Habéis dicho: Por demás es servir á Dios; ¿y qué aprovecha que guardemos su ley, y que andemos tristes delante de Jehová de los ejércitos?
Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?
You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God,’ and ‘What profit is it that we have followed his instructions and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of Armies?
Por isso, no que nos diz respeito, a lei é esta: Felizes os arrogantes e orgulhosos. Porque são os maus que prosperam, e os que desafiam o castigo de Deus nada sofrem de mau’.”
Decimos pues ahora, que bienaventurados los soberbios, y también que los que hacen impiedad son los prosperados: bien que tentaron á Dios, escaparon.
And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

Então os que obedeciam e amavam o Senhor conversavam uns com os outros. O Senhor tinha à sua frente um livro em que registrava os nomes dos que lhe obedeciam e honravam o seu nome.
Entonces los que temen á Jehová hablaron cada uno á su compañero; y Jehová escuchó y oyó, y fué escrito libro de memoria delante de él para los que temen á Jehová, y para los que piensan en su nombre.
Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
Then those who feared the LORD spoke one with another; and the LORD listened and heard, and a book of memory was written before him for those who feared the LORD and who honored his name.
“Eles serão meus”, diz o Senhor do Universo, “no dia que eu preparei. Não deixarei que sofram, como o pai não castiga o filho obediente.
Y serán para mí especial tesoro, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, en el día que yo tengo de hacer: y perdonarélos como el hombre que perdona á su hijo que le sirve.
And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
They shall be mine,” says the LORD of Armies, “my own possession in the day that I make. I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.
Então vocês verão a diferença entre o tratamento que Deus dá aos justos e aos maus, entre os que o servem e os que não o servem”.
Entonces os tornaréis, y echaréis de ver la diferencia entre el justo y el malo, entre el que sirve á Dios y el que no le sirve.
Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
