HE aquí, yo envío mi mensajero, el cual preparará el camino delante de mí: y luego vendrá á su templo el Señor á quien vosotros buscáis, y el ángel del pacto, á quien deseáis vosotros. He aquí viene, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos.
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

¿Y quién podrá sufrir el tiempo de su venida? ó ¿quién podrá estar cuando él se mostrará? Porque él es como fuego purificador, y como jabón de lavadores.
But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:

Und sitzen wird Er, schmelzend und reinigend das Silber, und wird reinigen die Söhne Levis und abtreiben sie wie Gold und wie Silber, und sie werden dem Jehovah herbeibringen Speiseopfer in Gerechtigkeit.

Und nahen werde Ich euch zum Gericht, und Ich werde eilig Zeuge sein wider die Zauberer und die Ehebrecher und die zur Lüge schwören und erpressen den Lohn des Lohnarbeiters, die Witwe und die Waise und den Fremdling beugen und Mich nicht fürchten, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen.

Seit eurer Väter Tagen seid ihr von Meinen Satzungen abgewichen und habt sie nicht gehalten. Kehrt zurück zu Mir, so will Ich wieder zu euch zurückkehren, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen. Ihr aber sprecht: Worin sollen wir zurückkehren?

Berückt wohl ein Mensch Gott? daß ihr wollt Mich berücken und ihr sprecht: Worin berückten wir Dich? im Zehnten und im Hebeopfer.

Mit Verwünschung seid ihr verflucht, und ihr wollt Mich berücken, die ganze Völkerschaft?
Malditos sois con maldición, porque vosotros, la nación toda, me habéis robado.

Bringt herein alle den Zehnten in das Schatzhaus, auf daß Ausbeute sei in Meinem Hause, und prüft Mich doch damit, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen, ob Ich euch nicht des Himmels Fenster öffne, und Segen für euch ausleere bis zum Überfluß.

Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?

Ihr sprachet: Eitel ist es, zu dienen Gott, und welcher Gewinn ist, daß wir Seine Verordnung halten und wir Leid tragend einhergehen vor dem Angesicht Jehovahs der Heerscharen?

Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?
You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God,’ and ‘What profit is it that we have followed his instructions and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of Armies?
Und nun preisen wir selig die Vermessenen. Sie wurden auch aufgebaut, die Ungerechtigkeit taten; auch versuchten sie Gott und entrannen.

Dann aber redeten miteinander die, so Jehovah fürchteten, ein Mann mit seinem Genossen, und Jehovah merkte auf und hörte, und es ward vor Seinem Angesicht geschrieben ein Gedenkbuch über die, so den Jehovah fürchten und an Seinen Namen denken.
Entonces los que temen á Jehová hablaron cada uno á su compañero; y Jehová escuchó y oyó, y fué escrito libro de memoria delante de él para los que temen á Jehová, y para los que piensan en su nombre.
Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Und sie sollen Mir, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen, für den Tag, den Ich mache, ein Eigentum sein, und Ich will sie bemitleiden, wie ein Mann bemitleidet seinen Sohn, der ihm dient.

Denn siehe, es kommt der Tag, der wie der Ofen brennt; und alle Vermessenen und die, so Ungerechtigkeit taten, sind Stoppel, und der Tag, der kommt, entflammt sie, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen, und weder Wurzel, noch Ast wird er denselben hinterlassen. Euch aber, die ihr Meinen Namen fürchtet, wird aufgehen die Sonne der Gerechtigkeit, und Heilung unter ihren Flügeln, und ihr geht aus und wachset heran wie die Mastkälber. Und die Gottlosen werdet ihr daniedertreten; denn Asche sollen sie unter den Sohlen eurer Füße sein an dem Tage, den Ich mache, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen. Gedenkt an das Gesetz des Moses, Meines Knechtes, das Ich ihm gebot auf Choreb an ganz Israel, an die Satzungen und Rechte. Siehe, Ich sende euch Elijah, den Propheten, bevor da kommt der Tag Jehovahs, der große und furchtbare. Und er wird das Herz der Väter zu den Söhnen zurückwenden, und das Herz der Söhne zu ihren Vätern, auf daß Ich nicht komme und schlage mit dem Banne das Land.
Entonces os tornaréis, y echaréis de ver la diferencia entre el justo y el malo, entre el que sirve á Dios y el que no le sirve.
