Cuando Jesús terminó de dar instrucciones a sus 12 discípulos, salió de allí a enseñar y predicar en las ciudades de ellos.
Y FUÉ, que acabando Jesús de dar mandamientos á sus doce discípulos, se fué de allí á enseñar y á predicar en las ciudades de ellos.
And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

Entonces en la cárcel Juan oyó en cuanto a los hechos de Cristo y envió a sus discípulos para que le preguntaran:
Y oyendo Juan en la prisión los hechos de Cristo, le envió dos de sus discípulos,
Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

¿Eres Tú el que venía o esperamos a otro?
Diciendo: ¿Eres tú aquél que había de venir, ó esperaremos á otro?

Jesús les respondió: Vayan, informen a Juan lo que ustedes oyen y ven:
Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Id, y haced saber á Juan las cosas que oís y veis:
Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
ciegos ven, cojos andan, leprosos son limpiados, sordos oyen, resucitan muertos y se proclaman las Buenas Noticias a los pobres.
Los ciegos ven, y los cojos andan; los leprosos son limpiados, y los sordos oyen; los muertos son resucitados, y á los pobres es anunciado el evangelio.
The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Mientras ellos se iban, Jesús comenzó a preguntar a la multitud con respecto a Juan: ¿Qué salieron a ver ustedes en el desierto? ¿Una caña sacudida por el viento?
E idos ellos, comenzó Jesús á decir de Juan á las gentes: ¿Qué salisteis á ver al desierto? ¿una caña que es meneada del viento?
And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
As these went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
¿Qué salieron a ver? ¿A un hombre vestido de ropaje fino? Miren, los que visten ropas finas están en las casas de los reyes.
Mas ¿qué salisteis á ver? ¿un hombre cubierto de delicados vestidos? He aquí, los que traen vestidos delicados, en las casas de los reyes están.
But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
Entonces, ¿qué salieron a ver? ¿A un profeta? Sí, les digo, mucho más que un profeta.
Mas ¿qué salisteis á ver? ¿un profeta? También os digo, y más que profeta.
But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.
Éste es aquél de quien está escrito: Ciertamente Yo envío a mi mensajero delante de Ti Quien preparará tu camino.
Porque éste es de quien está escrito: He aquí, yo envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz, que aparejará tu camino delante de ti.
For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
For this is he, of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’
En verdad les digo: Entre los nacidos de mujeres, no se levantó uno mayor que Juan el Bautista, pero el más pequeño en el reino celestial es mayor que él.
De cierto os digo, que no se levantó entre los que nacen de mujeres otro mayor que Juan el Bautista; mas el que es muy más pequeño en el reino de los cielos, mayor es que él.
Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Most certainly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.
Sin embargo, desde los días de Juan el Bautista hasta ahora, el reino celestial sufre violencia, y violentos lo arrebatan.
Desde los días de Juan el Bautista hasta ahora, al reino de los cielos se hace fuerza, y los valientes lo arrebatan.
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Porque todos los profetas y la Ley profetizaron hasta Juan,

y si quieren aceptarlo, él es el Elías que vendría.

El que tiene oídos, escuche.
El que tiene oídos para oir, oiga.
He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
¿A qué, pues, compararé esta generación? Es semejante a muchachos que se sientan en las plazas y dan voces a otros:
Mas ¿á quién compararé esta generación? Es semejante á los muchachos que se sientan en las plazas, y dan voces á sus compañeros,
But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
“But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companions
Les tocamos flauta y no bailaron, entonamos cantos fúnebres y no lamentaron.
Y dicen: Os tañimos flauta, y no bailasteis; os endechamos, y no lamentasteis.
And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned for you, and you didn’t lament.’
Porque Juan vino, quien no comía ni bebía, y dijeron: ¡Tiene demonio!

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

Vino el Hijo del Hombre, Quien come y bebe, y dicen: ¡Miren, un hombre comilón y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y pecadores! Pero la sabiduría es justificada por sus obras.
Vino el Hijo del hombre, que come y bebe, y dicen: He aquí un hombre comilón, y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y de pecadores. Mas la sabiduría es justificada por sus hijos.
The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Entonces comenzó a reprender a las ciudades en las cuales hizo la mayoría de sus milagros, porque no cambiaron de mente:

Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! Porque si en Tiro y Sidón se hubieran hecho los milagros que se hicieron en ustedes, hace tiempo hubieran cambiado de mente con tela áspera y ceniza.
¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Bethsaida! porque si en Tiro y en Sidón fueran hechas las maravillas que han sido hechas en vosotras, en otro tiempo se hubieran arrepentido en saco y en ceniza.
Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
Por tanto les digo: En el día del juicio, será más tolerable para Tiro y Sidón que para ustedes.
Por tanto os digo, que á Tiro y á Sidón será más tolerable el castigo en el día del juicio, que á vosotras.
But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
Y tú, Cafarnaúm, ¿serás exaltada hasta el cielo? ¡Hasta el sepulcro serás abatida! Porque si en Sodoma se hubieran hecho los milagros que se hicieron en ti, habría permanecido hasta hoy.
Y tú, Capernaum, que eres levantada hasta el cielo, hasta los infiernos serás abajada; porque si en los de Sodoma fueran hechas las maravillas que han sido hechas en ti, hubieran quedado hasta el día de hoy.
And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, you will go down to Hades. For if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in you, it would have remained until today.
Por tanto les digo que en el día del juicio, será más tolerable para la tierra de Sodoma que para ti.
Por tanto os digo, que á la tierra de los de Sodoma será más tolerable el castigo en el día del juicio, que á ti.
But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
But I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment, than for you.”
En aquel tiempo Jesús dijo: Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque escondiste estas cosas de sabios y entendidos, y las revelaste a niños.
En aquel tiempo, respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, que hayas escondido estas cosas de los sabios y de los entendidos, y las hayas revelado á los niños.
At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
At that time, Jesus answered, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.
Sí, Padre, porque así te agradó.
Así, Padre, pues que así agradó en tus ojos.
Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.
Mi Padre me entregó todas las cosas. Nadie conoce plenamente al Hijo sino el Padre. Nadie conoce plenamente al Padre sino el Hijo, y aquel a quien el Hijo lo quiera revelar.
Todas las cosas me son entregadas de mi Padre: y nadie conoció al Hijo, sino el Padre; ni al Padre conoció alguno, sino el Hijo, y aquel á quien el Hijo lo quisiere revelar.
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.
Vengan a Mí todos los que están agotados y cargados, y Yo los haré descansar.
Venid á mí todos los que estáis trabajados y cargados, que yo os haré descansar.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
Lleven mi yugo sobre ustedes y aprendan de Mí, pues soy manso y humilde de corazón. Hallarán descanso para sus almas,
Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
porque mi yugo es fácil y liviana mi carga.
Porque mi yugo es fácil, y ligera mi carga.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
