Mateo 11

Quando Jesus tinha acabado de dar estas instruções aos seus doze discípulos, saiu pregando nas cidades da região.

Y FUÉ, que acabando Jesús de dar mandamientos á sus doce discípulos, se fué de allí á enseñar y á predicar en las ciudades de ellos.

And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

When Jesus had finished directing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.

João Batista, que agora estava na prisão, soube de todos os milagres que Cristo estava fazendo e, portanto, enviou seus discípulos para perguntar a Jesus:

Y oyendo Juan en la prisión los hechos de Cristo, le envió dos de sus discípulos,

Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

“O Senhor é realmente aquele que nós estamos esperando, ou devemos continuar esperando algum outro?”

Diciendo: ¿Eres tú aquél que había de venir, ó esperaremos á otro?

And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

and said to him, “Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?”

Jesus lhes disse: “Voltem a João e contem-lhe dos milagres que vocês me viram fazer:

Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Id, y haced saber á Juan las cosas que oís y veis:

Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:

Os cegos veem, os coxos andam, os leprosos são sarados, os surdos ouvem, os mortos são levantados para a vida; e as boas-novas são pregadas aos pobres,

Los ciegos ven, y los cojos andan; los leprosos son limpiados, y los sordos oyen; los muertos son resucitados, y á los pobres es anunciado el evangelio.

The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

e feliz é aquele que não se escandaliza por minha causa”.

Y bienaventurado es el que no fuere escandalizado en mí.

And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Quando os discípulos de João tinham ido embora, Jesus começou a falar a respeito de João às multidões. “Quando vocês saíram ao deserto, o que vocês esperavam ver? Uma cana agitada pelo vento?

E idos ellos, comenzó Jesús á decir de Juan á las gentes: ¿Qué salisteis á ver al desierto? ¿una caña que es meneada del viento?

And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

As these went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

Ou vocês estavam esperando ver um homem vestido com roupas finas? Ora, quem se veste assim vive como um príncipe nos palácios reais.

Mas ¿qué salisteis á ver? ¿un hombre cubierto de delicados vestidos? He aquí, los que traen vestidos delicados, en las casas de los reyes están.

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

Ou o que foram ver? Um profeta de Deus? Sim, e ele é mais do que um simples profeta.

Mas ¿qué salisteis á ver? ¿un profeta? También os digo, y más que profeta.

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.

Porque João é o homem de quem está escrito: “ ‘Ouçam: vou enviar o meu mensageiro, que irá antes de mim; ele vai preparar o caminho diante de vocês’.

Porque éste es de quien está escrito: He aquí, yo envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz, que aparejará tu camino delante de ti.

For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

For this is he, of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’

Na verdade, de todos os homens que já nasceram, nenhum foi tão grande como João Batista. E, no entanto, até o menor no Reino dos céus será maior do que ele!

De cierto os digo, que no se levantó entre los que nacen de mujeres otro mayor que Juan el Bautista; mas el que es muy más pequeño en el reino de los cielos, mayor es que él.

Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Most certainly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.

E desde o tempo em que João Batista começou a pregar e batizar, até agora, multidões ansiosas vão abrindo caminho em direção ao Reino dos céus.

Desde los días de Juan el Bautista hasta ahora, al reino de los cielos se hace fuerza, y los valientes lo arrebatan.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

From the days of John the Baptizer until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

Toda a Lei e os Profetas profetizaram até que apareceu João,

Porque todos los profetas y la ley hasta Juan profetizaron.

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

e se vocês estão dispostos a aceitar o que eu quero dizer, ele é Elias, aquele que os profetas disseram que viria.

Y si queréis recibir, él es aquel Elías que había de venir.

And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

If you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come.

Se vocês têm ouvidos para ouvir, então ouçam!

El que tiene oídos para oir, oiga.

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

“Que direi eu a respeito desta nação? São como crianças que estão sentadas nas praças e dizem aos seus amiguinhos:

Mas ¿á quién compararé esta generación? Es semejante á los muchachos que se sientan en las plazas, y dan voces á sus compañeros,

But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,

“But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companions

“ ‘Nós tocamos música de casamento, mas vocês não se alegraram! Então, cantamos música de enterro, e vocês não ficaram tristes’.

Y dicen: Os tañimos flauta, y no bailasteis; os endechamos, y no lamentasteis.

And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned for you, and you didn’t lament.’

“Porque João Batista não bebe nem vinho e muitas vezes jejua, então vocês dizem: ‘Ele está dominado por um demônio’.

Porque vino Juan, que ni comía ni bebía, y dicen: Demonio tiene.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’

Veio o Filho do Homem, participando de festas, comendo e bebendo, e vocês se queixam: ‘Vejam! Este homem é um comilão e beberrão, um homem que vive andando por aí com cobradores de impostos e “pecadores!” ’. Mas a sabedoria pode ser comprovada pelas obras que a acompanham!”

Vino el Hijo del hombre, que come y bebe, y dicen: He aquí un hombre comilón, y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y de pecadores. Mas la sabiduría es justificada por sus hijos.

The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.”

Então Jesus começou a clamar contra as cidades onde havia feito a maior parte dos seus milagres, porque elas não se haviam voltado para Deus.

Entonces comenzó á reconvenir á las ciudades en las cuales habían sido hechas muy muchas de sus maravillas, porque no se habían arrepentido, diciendo:

Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

Then he began to denounce the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they didn’t repent.

“Ai de você, Corazim, e ai de você, Betsaida! Porque se os milagres que eu realizei entre vocês tivessem sido realizados em Tiro e Sidom há muito tempo aqueles povos teriam se arrependido, vestindo roupas de pano de saco e cobrindo-se de cinzas.

¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Bethsaida! porque si en Tiro y en Sidón fueran hechas las maravillas que han sido hechas en vosotras, en otro tiempo se hubieran arrepentido en saco y en ceniza.

Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

Mas eu afirmo a vocês, Tiro e Sidom estarão em melhor situação no Dia do Juízo do que Corazim e Betsaida!

Por tanto os digo, que á Tiro y á Sidón será más tolerable el castigo en el día del juicio, que á vosotras.

But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.

E você, Cafarnaum, embora altamente honrada, descerá até o inferno! Porque se os admiráveis milagres que eu operei aí tivessem sido realizados em Sodoma, aquela cidade existiria até hoje.

Y tú, Capernaum, que eres levantada hasta el cielo, hasta los infiernos serás abajada; porque si en los de Sodoma fueran hechas las maravillas que han sido hechas en ti, hubieran quedado hasta el día de hoy.

And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, you will go down to Hades. For if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in you, it would have remained until today.

Pois eu afirmo a vocês, a situação de Sodoma será melhor do que a sua no Dia do Juízo”.

Por tanto os digo, que á la tierra de los de Sodoma será más tolerable el castigo en el día del juicio, que á ti.

But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

But I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment, than for you.”

E Jesus fez esta oração: “Ó Pai, Senhor do céu e da terra, eu te agradeço porque o Senhor escondeu a verdade daqueles que se julgam sábios e instruídos, e a revelou às crianças!

En aquel tiempo, respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, que hayas escondido estas cosas de los sabios y de los entendidos, y las hayas revelado á los niños.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

At that time, Jesus answered, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.

Sim, Pai, porque foi do seu agrado fazer isso desta forma!”

Así, Padre, pues que así agradó en tus ojos.

Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.

“Toda a verdade foi confiada a mim por meu Pai. Só o Pai conhece o Filho, e o Pai é conhecido somente pelo Filho e por aqueles a quem o Filho o quiser revelar.

Todas las cosas me son entregadas de mi Padre: y nadie conoció al Hijo, sino el Padre; ni al Padre conoció alguno, sino el Hijo, y aquel á quien el Hijo lo quisiere revelar.

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

“Venham a mim, todos vocês que estão cansados e sobrecarregados, e eu lhes darei descanso.

Venid á mí todos los que estáis trabajados y cargados, que yo os haré descansar.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

Levem o meu jugo e deixem que eu lhes ensine; porque eu sou manso e humilde de coração, e vocês acharão descanso para suas almas.

Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.

Pois o meu jugo é suave e o meu ensino é leve”.

Porque mi yugo es fácil, y ligera mi carga.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
