1En aquel día, Jesús salió de la casa y se sentó a la orilla del mar.
2Y se le unió un gran número de personas, de modo que subió a un bote; y la gente se sentó junto al mar.
3Y les dio enseñanza en forma de historia, diciendo: Él sembrador salió a poner semilla en la tierra;
4Y mientras lo hacía, algunas semillas cayeron junto al camino, y los pájaros vinieron y los tomaron como alimento:
5Y parte de la semilla cayó entre las piedras, donde no tenía mucha tierra, y de inmediato surgió porque la tierra no era profunda;
6y cuando el sol estaba alto, fue quemada; y debido a que no tenía raíz, se secó y murió.
7Y algunas semillas cayeron entre espinas, y las espinas crecieron y la ahogaron,
8Y otras, cayendo sobre la tierra buena, dieron fruto, algunas ciento, algunas sesenta, y otras treinta veces más.
9El que tiene oídos, que oiga.
10Y vinieron los discípulos y le dijeron: ¿Por qué les dices cosas en forma de historias?
11Y les respondió: A ustedes se les ha dado a conocer los secretos del reino de los cielos, pero a ellos no se les ha dado.
12Porque a cualquiera que tiene, se le dará, y tendrá más; pero el que no tiene, incluso lo que tiene le será quitado.
13Por esta razón, puse cosas en forma de historias; porque viendo no ven, y oyendo no oyen ni entienden.
14Y para ellos, las palabras de Isaías se han cumplido, aunque oigas, no entenderás; y viendo, verán y no percibirán.
15Porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha engrosado, y sus oídos oyen despacio, y tienen los ojos cerrados; por temor a que vean con sus ojos y escuchen con sus oídos y se vuelvan sabios en sus corazones y vuelvan a mí, para que yo los sane.
16Pero bendecidos sus ojos que ven, y oídos, que oyen.
17Porque en verdad es digo que los profetas y los hombres rectos deseaban ver lo que ven, y no lo vieron; y oír lo que oyen sus oídos, y no lo oyeron.
18Escuchen, pues, la historia del sembrador que puso la semilla en la tierra.
19Cuando la palabra del reino llega a cualquiera, y no la entiende, entonces viene el Maligno, y rápidamente quita lo que fue puesto en su corazón. Éste es la semilla que cayó en el camino.
20Y lo que fue sobre las piedras, este es el que, al oír la palabra, de inmediato la toma con alegría;
21Pero no teniendo raíz en sí mismo, continúa por un tiempo; y cuando viene la persecución o el dolor, debido a la palabra, luego tropieza, rápidamente y se llena de dudas.
22Y lo que cayó entre espinos, éste es el que oye la palabra; y los cuidados y afanes de esta vida, y los engaños de la riqueza, detienen el crecimiento de la palabra y no da fruto.
23Y la semilla que fue puesta en buena tierra, éste es el que escucha la palabra, y entienden; y quien da fruto, unos cien, unos sesenta, unos treinta veces más.
24Y él les contó otra historia, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante al hombre que puso buena semilla en su campo;
25Pero mientras los hombres dormían, vino uno que tenía odio por él y puso malas semillas entre el grano, y se fue.
26Pero cuando el tallo verde subía y daba fruto, las malas plantas se veían al mismo tiempo.
27Y vinieron los siervos del señor de la casa, y le dijeron: Señor, ¿no has puesto buena semilla en tu campo? ¿cómo es que tiene malas plantas?
28Y él dijo: Alguien ha hecho esto con odio. Y los sirvientes le dicen: ¿Quiere usted que arranquemos la mala hierba?
29Pero él dice: No, no sea que, por casualidad, mientras arrancan la hierba mala, puedan arrancar el trigo con ellas.
30Que crezcan juntos hasta la siega del grano; y luego diré a los obreros: “recogan primero la hierba mala, y ponganla en manojos para quemar; pero recojan el trigo en mi granero”.
31Y les contó otra historia, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante al grano de mostaza que un hombre tomó y puso en su campo;
32El cual es más pequeño que todas las semillas; pero cuando ha crecido, es más grande de las hortalizas, y se convierte en un árbol, de modo que las aves del cielo vienen y hacen sus lugares de descanso en sus ramas.
33Otra historia les dio: El reino de los cielos es semejante a la levadura que tomó una mujer, y puso en tres medidas de harina, hasta que todo fue fermentado.
34Todas estas cosas que Jesús dijo a la gente en forma de historias; y sin una historia no les dijo nada:
35Para que se haga realidad lo que dijo el profeta, Hablare por medio de parábolas; Daré conocimiento de cosas guardadas en secreto desde la fundación del mundo.
36Entonces él se fue del pueblo y entró en la casa; y sus discípulos se acercaron a él y le dijeron: “Haznos saber la historia de la cizaña en el campo”.
37Y él respondió y dijo: El que pone la buena semilla en la tierra es el Hijo del hombre;
38Y el campo es el mundo; y la buena semilla son los hijos del reino; y las semillas malas son los hijos del Maligno;
39Y el que los puso en la tierra es Satanás; y la siega del grano es el fin del mundo; y los segadores son los ángeles.
40Así como la planta mala se juntan y se queman con fuego, así será en el fin del mundo.
41El Hijo del Hombre enviará a sus ángeles, y sacarán de su reino todos los que son causa de tropiezo, y a todos los que hacen mal,
42Y los pondrán en el fuego; habrá llanto y gritos de dolor y crujir de dientes.
43Entonces los rectos brillarán como el sol en el reino de su Padre. El que tiene oídos, que oiga.
44El reino de los cielos es como un tesoro escondido en un campo, que un hombre encontró y volvió a esconder; y en su alegría va y vende todo lo que tiene, para obtener ese campo.
45Una vez más, el reino de los cielos es como un comerciante en busca de hermosas perlas.
46Y habiéndose encontrado con una perla de gran precio, fue y vendió todo lo que tenía a cambio de ella.
47Otra vez, el reino de los cielos es como una red, que fue puesta en el mar y tomó todo tipo de peces;
48Cuando estaba llena, la ponen sobre la arena; y sentados allí, ponen lo bueno en cestas, pero lo malo echan fuera.
49Así será en el fin del mundo: los ángeles vendrán y sacarán lo malo de entre los justos,
50Y los pondrán en el fuego; allí habrá llanto y crujir de dientes.
51Jesús les dijo ¿Están todas estas cosas ahora claras para ustedes? Ellos le dicen, sí.
52Y él les dijo: Por esta razón, todo escriba que se ha hecho discípulo del reino de los cielos es como el dueño de una casa, que saca de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas viejas.
53Y cuando Jesús llegó al final de estas historias, se fue de allí.
54Y entrando en su tierra, les dio enseñanza en su sinagoga, y se sorprendieron grandemente, y dijeron: ¿De dónde sacó este hombre esta sabiduría y estos milagros?
55¿No es este el hijo del carpintero? ¿No es su madre llamada María? y sus hermanos Santiago y José y Simón y Judas?
56Y sus hermanas, ¿no están todas con nosotros? ¿De dónde, entonces, tiene todas estas cosas?
57Y ellos no creyeron en él. Pero Jesús les dijo: Un profeta no está en ninguna parte sin honor, sino en su país y entre su familia.
58Y los milagros que hizo allí eran pocos en número porque no tenían fe.

1Y AQUEL día, saliendo Jesús de casa, se sentó junto á la mar.
2Y se allegaron á él muchas gentes; y entrándose él en el barco, se sentó, y toda la gente estaba á la ribera.
3Y les habló muchas cosas por parábolas, diciendo: He aquí el que sembraba salió á sembrar.
4Y sembrando, parte de la simiente cayó junto al camino; y vinieron las aves, y la comieron.
5Y parte cayó en pedregales, donde no tenía mucha tierra; y nació luego, porque no tenía profundidad de tierra:
6Mas en saliendo el sol, se quemó; y secóse, porque no tenía raíz.
7Y parte cayó en espinas; y las espinas crecieron, y la ahogaron.
8Y parte cayó en buena tierra, y dió fruto, cuál á ciento, cuál á sesenta, y cuál á treinta.
9Quien tiene oídos para oir, oiga.
10Entonces, llegándose los discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Por qué les hablas por parábolas?
11Y él respondiendo, les dijo: Por que á vosotros es concedido saber los misterios del reino de los cielos; mas á ellos no es concedido.
12Porque á cualquiera que tiene, se le dará, y tendrá más; pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.
13Por eso les hablo por parábolas; porque viendo no ven, y oyendo no oyen, ni entienden.
14De manera que se cumple en ellos la profecía de Isaías, que dice: De oído oiréis, y no entenderéis; y viendo veréis, y no miraréis.
15Porque el corazón de este pueblo está engrosado, y de los oídos oyen pesadamente, y de sus ojos guiñan: para que no vean de los ojos, y oigan de los oídos, y del corazón entiendan, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.
16Mas bienaventurados vuestros ojos, porque ven; y vuestros oídos, porque oyen.
17Porque de cierto os digo, que muchos profetas y justos desearon ver lo que veis, y no lo vieron: y oir lo que oís, y no lo oyeron.
18Oid, pues, vosotros la parábola del que siembra:
19Oyendo cualquiera la palabra del reino, y no entendiéndola, viene el malo, y arrebata lo que fué sembrado en su corazón: éste es el que fué sembrado junto al camino.
20Y el que fué sembrado en pedregales, éste es el que oye la palabra, y luego la recibe con gozo.
21Mas no tiene raíz en sí, antes es temporal: que venida la aflicción ó la persecución por la palabra, luego se ofende.
22Y el que fué sembrado en espinas, éste es el que oye la palabra; pero el afán de este siglo y el engaño de las riquezas, ahogan la palabra, y hácese infructuosa.
23Mas el que fué sembrado en buena tierra, éste es el que oye y entiende la palabra, y el que lleva fruto: y lleva uno á ciento, y otro á sesenta, y otro á treinta.
24Otra parábola les propuso, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante al hombre que siembra buena simiente en su campo:
25Mas durmiendo los hombres, vino su enemigo, y sembró cizaña entre el trigo, y se fué.
26Y como la hierba salió é hizo fruto, entonces apareció también la cizaña.
27Y llegándose los siervos del padre de la familia, le dijeron: Señor, ¿no sembraste buena simiente en tu campo? ¿de dónde, pues, tiene cizaña?
28Y él les dijo: Un hombre enemigo ha hecho esto. Y los siervos le dijeron: ¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos y la cojamos?
29Y él dijo: No; porque cogiendo la cizaña, no arranquéis también con ella el trigo.
30Dejad crecer juntamente lo uno y lo otro hasta la siega; y al tiempo de la siega yo diré á los segadores: Coged primero la cizaña, y atadla en manojos para quemarla; mas recoged el trigo en mi alfolí.
31Otra parábola les propuso, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante al grano de mostaza, que tomándolo alguno lo sembró en su campo:
32El cual á la verdad es la más pequeña de todas las simientes; mas cuando ha crecido, es la mayor de las hortalizas, y se hace árbol, que vienen las aves del cielo y hacen nidos en sus ramas.
33Otra parábola les dijo: El reino de los cielos es semejante á la levadura que tomó una mujer, y escondió en tres medidas de harina, hasta que todo quedó leudo.
34Todo esto habló Jesús por parábolas á las gentes, y sin parábolas no les hablaba:
35Para que se cumpliese lo que fué dicho por el profeta, que dijo: Abriré en parábolas mi boca; rebosaré cosas escondidas desde la fundación del mundo.
36Entonces, despedidas las gentes, Jesús se vino á casa; y llegándose á él sus discípulos, le dijeron: Decláranos la parábola de la cizaña del campo.
37Y respondiendo él, les dijo: El que siembra la buena simiente es el Hijo del hombre;
38Y el campo es el mundo; y la buena simiente son los hijos del reino, y la cizaña son los hijos del malo;
39Y el enemigo que la sembró, es el diablo; y la siega es el fin del mundo, y los segadores son los ángeles.
40De manera que como es cogida la cizaña, y quemada al fuego, así será en el fin de este siglo.
41Enviará el Hijo del hombre sus ángeles, y cogerán de su reino todos los escándalos, y los que hacen iniquidad,
42Y los echarán en el horno de fuego: allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
43Entonces los justos resplandecerán como el sol en el reino de su Padre: el que tiene oídos para oir, oiga.
44Además, el reino de los cielos es semejante al tesoro escondido en el campo; el cual hallado, el hombre lo encubre, y de gozo de ello va, y vende todo lo que tiene, y compra aquel campo.
45También el reino de los cielos es semejante al hombre tratante, que busca buenas perlas;
46Que hallando una preciosa perla, fué y vendió todo lo que tenía, y la compró.
47Asimismo el reino de los cielos es semejante á la red, que echada en la mar, coge de todas suertes de peces:
48La cual estando llena, la sacaron á la orilla; y sentados, cogieron lo bueno en vasos, y lo malo echaron fuera.
49Así será al fin del siglo: saldrán los ángeles, y apartarán á los malos de entre los justos,
50Y los echarán en el horno del fuego: allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
51Díceles Jesús: ¿Habéis entendido todas estas cosas? Ellos responden: Sí, Señor.
52Y él les dijo: Por eso todo escriba docto en el reino de los cielos, es semejante á un padre de familia, que saca de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas viejas.
53Y aconteció que acabando Jesús estas parábolas, pasó de allí.
54Y venido á su tierra, les enseñaba en la sinagoga de ellos, de tal manera que ellos estaban atónitos, y decían: ¿De dónde tiene éste esta sabiduría, y estas maravillas?
55¿No es éste el hijo del carpintero? ¿no se llama su madre María, y sus hermanos Jacobo y José, y Simón, y Judas?
56¿Y no están todas sus hermanas con nosotros? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene éste todas estas cosas?
57Y se escandalizaban en él. Mas Jesús les dijo: No hay profeta sin honra sino en su tierra y en su casa.
58Y no hizo allí muchas maravillas, á causa de la incredulidad de ellos.

1The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
2And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
5Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
6And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
8But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
9Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

13Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
16But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
17For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
18Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
19When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
20But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
23But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
24Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
31Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
32Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
33Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
34All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:
35That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
36Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
37He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
41The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
44Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
45Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
47Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
48Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
49So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
50And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
51Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.
52Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
53And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.
54And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
55Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
57And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
58And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

1On that day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the seaside.
2Great multitudes gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat and sat; and all the multitude stood on the beach.
3He spoke to them many things in parables, saying, “Behold, a farmer went out to sow.
4As he sowed, some seeds fell by the roadside, and the birds came and devoured them.
5Others fell on rocky ground, where they didn’t have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of earth.
6When the sun had risen, they were scorched. Because they had no root, they withered away.
7Others fell among thorns. The thorns grew up and choked them.
8Others fell on good soil and yielded fruit: some one hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.
9He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
10The disciples came, and said to him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”
11He answered them, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but it is not given to them.
12For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever doesn’t have, from him will be taken away even that which he has.
13Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they don’t see, and hearing, they don’t hear, neither do they understand.

17For most certainly I tell you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them; and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them.
18“Hear, then, the parable of the farmer.
19When anyone hears the word of the Kingdom and doesn’t understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away that which has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown by the roadside.
20What was sown on the rocky places, this is he who hears the word and immediately with joy receives it;
21yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
22What was sown among the thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of this age and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
23What was sown on the good ground, this is he who hears the word and understands it, who most certainly bears fruit and produces, some one hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.”
24He set another parable before them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field,
25but while people slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel weeds also among the wheat, and went away.
26But when the blade sprang up and produced grain, then the darnel weeds appeared also.
27The servants of the householder came and said to him, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where did these darnel weeds come from?’
28“He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and gather them up?’
29“But he said, ‘No, lest perhaps while you gather up the darnel weeds, you root up the wheat with them.
30Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the harvest time I will tell the reapers, “First, gather up the darnel weeds, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”
31He set another parable before them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took, and sowed in his field,
32which indeed is smaller than all seeds. But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.”
33He spoke another parable to them. “The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until it was all leavened.”
34Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the multitudes; and without a parable, he didn’t speak to them,
35that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.”
36Then Jesus sent the multitudes away, and went into the house. His disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the darnel weeds of the field.”
37He answered them, “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,
38the field is the world, the good seeds are the children of the Kingdom, and the darnel weeds are the children of the evil one.
39The enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.
40As therefore the darnel weeds are gathered up and burned with fire; so will it be at the end of this age.
41The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his Kingdom all things that cause stumbling and those who do iniquity,
42and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
43Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
44“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid. In his joy, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
45“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a merchant seeking fine pearls,
46who having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.
47“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some fish of every kind,
48which, when it was filled, fishermen drew up on the beach. They sat down and gathered the good into containers, but the bad they threw away.
49So it will be in the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked from among the righteous,
50and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
51Jesus said to them, “Have you understood all these things?” They answered him, “Yes, Lord.”
52He said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been made a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings out of his treasure new and old things.”
53When Jesus had finished these parables, he departed from there.
54Coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works?
55Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother called Mary, and his brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?
56Aren’t all of his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all of these things?”
57They were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country and in his own house.”
58He didn’t do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
