En ce temps-là, Hérode le tétrarque entendit parler de la renommée de Jésus ;

EN aquel tiempo Herodes el tetrarca oyó la fama de Jesús,

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,

et il dit à ses serviteurs : C’est Jean le baptiseur ; il est ressuscité des morts, et c’est pourquoi les miracles s’opèrent par lui.

Y dijo á sus criados: Este es Juan el Bautista: él ha resucitado de los muertos, y por eso virtudes obran en él.

And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”

Car Hérode, ayant fait prendre Jean, l’avait fait lier et mettre en prison, à cause d’Hérodias, la femme de Philippe son frère ;

Porque Herodes había prendido á Juan, y le había aprisionado y puesto en la cárcel, por causa de Herodías, mujer de Felipe su hermano;

For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife.

car Jean lui disait : Il ne t’est pas permis de l’avoir.

Porque Juan le decía: No te es lícito tenerla.

For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

Et tout en ayant le désir de le faire mourir, il craignait la foule, parce qu’ils le tenaient pour prophète.

Mais lorsqu’on célébrait l’anniversaire de la naissance d’Hérode, la fille d’Hérodias dansa devant tous, et plut à Hérode :

But when Herod’s birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

sur quoi il lui promit avec serment de lui donner tout ce qu’elle demanderait.

Y prometió él con juramento de darle todo lo que pidiese.

Et elle, poussée par sa mère : Donne-moi ici, dit-elle, dans un plat, la tête de Jean le baptiseur.

And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger.

Et le roi en fut affligé ; mais, à cause des serments et de ceux qui étaient à table avec lui, il donna l’ordre qu’on la lui donne.

Entonces el rey se entristeció; mas por el juramento, y por los que estaban juntamente á la mesa, mandó que se le diese.

And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,

Et il envoya décapiter Jean dans la prison.

Y enviando, degolló á Juan en la cárcel.

Et ses disciples vinrent et enlevèrent le corps et l’ensevelirent ; et s’en allant, ils rapportèrent à Jésus †ce qui était arrivé.

Entonces llegaron sus discípulos, y tomaron el cuerpo, y lo enterraron; y fueron, y dieron las nuevas á Jesús.

And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

Et Jésus, l’ayant entendu, se retira de là dans un bateau en un lieu désert, à l’écart ; et les foules, l’ayant appris, le suivirent à pied, des †différentes villes.

Y oyéndolo Jesús, se apartó de allí en un barco á un lugar descierto, apartado: y cuando las gentes lo oyeron, le siguieron á pie de las ciudades.

When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.

Et étant sorti, il vit une grande foule ; et il fut ému de compassion envers eux, et il guérit leurs infirmes.

Y saliendo Jesús, vió un gran gentío, y tuvo compasión de ellos, y sanó á los que de ellos había enfermos.

And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Et le soir étant venu, ses disciples vinrent à lui, disant : Le lieu est désert, et l’heure est déjà passée ; renvoie les foules, afin qu’elles s’en aillent aux villages et qu’elles s’achètent des vivres.

Y cuando fué la tarde del día, se llegaron á él sus discípulos, diciendo: El lugar es desierto, y el tiempo es ya pasado: despide las gentes, para que se vayan por las aldeas, y compren para sí de comer.

And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”

Mais Jésus leur dit : Il n’est pas nécessaire qu’elles s’en aillent ; vous, donnez-leur à manger.

Y Jesús les dijo: No tienen necesidad de irse: dadles vosotros de comer.

But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

Mais ils lui disent : Nous n’avons ici que cinq pains et deux poissons.

Y ellos dijeron: No tenemos aquí sino cinco panes y dos peces.

And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”

Et il dit : Apportez-les-moi ici.

Y él les dijo: Traédmelos acá.

He said, Bring them hither to me.

He said, “Bring them here to me.”

Et ayant donné l’ordre aux foules de s’asseoir sur l’herbe, ayant pris les cinq pains et les deux poissons, il regarda vers le ciel et bénit ; et ayant rompu les pains, il les donna aux disciples, et les disciples aux foules.

Y mandando á las gentes recostarse sobre la hierba, tomando los cinco panes y los dos peces, alzando los ojos al cielo, bendijo, y partió y dió los panes á los discípulos, y los discípulos á las gentes.

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

Et ils mangèrent tous et furent rassasiés. Et ils ramassèrent, des morceaux qui étaient de reste, douze paniers pleins.

Y comieron todos, y se hartaron; y alzaron lo que sobró de los pedazos, doce cestas llenas.

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

They all ate and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.

Or ceux qui avaient mangé étaient environ 5 000 hommes, outre les femmes et les enfants.

Y los que comieron fueron como cinco mil hombres, sin las mujeres y los niños.

And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

Et aussitôt il contraignit les disciples de monter dans le bateau et de le précéder à l’autre rive, jusqu’à ce qu’il ait renvoyé les foules.

Y luego Jesús hizo á sus discípulos entrar en el barco, é ir delante de él á la otra parte del lago, entre tanto que él despedía á las gentes.

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

Et quand il eut renvoyé les foules, il monta sur une montagne à l’écart pour prier ; et le soir étant venu, il était là seul.

Y despedidas las gentes, subió al monte, apartado, á orar: y como fué la tarde del día, estaba allí solo.

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.

Or le bateau était déjà au milieu de la mer, battu par les vagues, car le vent était contraire.

Y ya el barco estaba en medio de la mar, atormentado de las ondas; porque el viento era contrario.

But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

Et à la quatrième veille de la nuit, il s’en alla vers eux, marchant sur la mer.

Mas á la cuarta vela de la noche, Jesús fué á ellos andando sobre la mar.

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.

Et les disciples, le voyant marcher sur la mer, furent troublés, disant : C’est un fantôme. Et ils crièrent de peur.

Y los discípulos, viéndole andar sobre la mar, se turbaron, diciendo: Fantasma es. Y dieron voces de miedo.

And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

Mais Jésus leur parla aussitôt, disant : Ayez bon courage ; c’est moi, n’ayez point de peur.

Mas luego Jesús les habló, diciendo: Confiad, yo soy; no tengáis miedo.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”

Et Pierre, lui répondant, dit : Seigneur, si c’est toi, commande-moi d’aller à toi sur les eaux.

Entonces le respondió Pedro, y dijo: Señor, si tú eres, manda que yo vaya á ti sobre las aguas.

And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”

Et il dit : Viens. Et Pierre, étant descendu du bateau, marcha sur les eaux pour aller à Jésus.

Y él dijo: Ven. Y descendiendo Pedro del barco, andaba sobre las aguas para ir á Jesús.

And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.

Mais voyant que le vent était fort, il eut peur ; et comme il commençait à enfoncer, il s’écria, disant : Seigneur, sauve-moi !

Mas viendo el viento fuerte, tuvo miedo; y comenzándose á hundir, dió voces, diciendo: Señor, sálvame.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Et aussitôt Jésus, étendant la main, le prit et lui dit : Homme de petite foi, pourquoi as-tu douté ?

Y luego Jesús, extendiendo la mano, trabó de él, y le dice: Oh hombre de poca fe, ¿por qué dudaste?

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Et quand ils furent montés dans le bateau, le vent tomba.

Y como ellos entraron en el barco, sosegóse el viento.

And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.

Et ceux qui étaient dans le bateau vinrent et lui rendirent hommage, disant : Véritablement tu es le Fils de Dieu !

Entonces los que estaban en el barco, vinieron y le adoraron, diciendo: Verdaderamente eres Hijo de Dios.

Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”

Et ayant passé à l’autre rive, ils vinrent dans la contrée de Génésareth.

Y llegando á la otra parte, vinieron á la tierra de Genezaret.

And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.

Et les hommes de ce lieu-là, l’ayant reconnu, envoyèrent dans tout le pays d’alentour ; et on lui apporta tous ceux qui se portaient mal ;

Y como le conocieron los hombres de aquel lugar, enviaron por toda aquella tierra alrededor, y trajeron á él todos los enfermos;

And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;

When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region and brought to him all who were sick;

et ils le priaient de †les laisser toucher seulement le bord de sa robe : et tous ceux qui le touchèrent furent complètement guéris.

Y le rogaban que solamente tocasen el borde de su manto; y todos los que tocaron, quedaron sanos.

And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
