En ce temps-là, Hérode le tétrarque, ayant entendu parler de Jésus, dit à ses serviteurs: C’est Jean-Baptiste!

EN aquel tiempo Herodes el tetrarca oyó la fama de Jesús,

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,

Il est ressuscité des morts, et c’est pour cela qu’il se fait par lui des miracles.

Y dijo á sus criados: Este es Juan el Bautista: él ha resucitado de los muertos, y por eso virtudes obran en él.

And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

Car Hérode, qui avait fait arrêter Jean, l’avait lié et mis en prison, à cause d’Hérodias, femme de Philippe, son frère,

Porque Herodes había prendido á Juan, y le había aprisionado y puesto en la cárcel, por causa de Herodías, mujer de Felipe su hermano;

For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife.

parce que Jean lui disait: Il ne t’est pas permis de l’avoir pour femme.

Il voulait le faire mourir, mais il craignait la foule, parce qu’elle regardait Jean comme un prophète.

de sorte qu’il promit avec serment de lui donner ce qu’elle demanderait.

A l’instigation de sa mère, elle dit: Donne-moi ici, sur un plat, la tête de Jean-Baptiste.

Le roi fut attristé; mais, à cause de ses serments et des convives, il commanda qu’on la lui donne,

And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

et il envoya décapiter Jean dans la prison.

Les disciples de Jean vinrent prendre son corps, et l’ensevelirent. Et ils allèrent l’annoncer à Jésus.

Entonces llegaron sus discípulos, y tomaron el cuerpo, y lo enterraron; y fueron, y dieron las nuevas á Jesús.

And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

A cette nouvelle, Jésus partit de là dans une barque, pour se retirer à l’écart dans un lieu désert; et la foule, l’ayant su, sortit des villes et le suivit à pied.

When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

Quand il sortit de la barque, il vit une grande foule, et fut ému de compassion pour elle, et il guérit les malades.

Y saliendo Jesús, vió un gran gentío, y tuvo compasión de ellos, y sanó á los que de ellos había enfermos.

And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Le soir étant venu, les disciples s’approchèrent de lui, et dirent: Ce lieu est désert, et l’heure est déjà avancée; renvoie la foule, afin qu’elle aille dans les villages, pour s’acheter des vivres.

Y cuando fué la tarde del día, se llegaron á él sus discípulos, diciendo: El lugar es desierto, y el tiempo es ya pasado: despide las gentes, para que se vayan por las aldeas, y compren para sí de comer.

And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”

Jésus leur répondit: Ils n’ont pas besoin de s’en aller; donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger.

Y Jesús les dijo: No tienen necesidad de irse: dadles vosotros de comer.

But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

Mais ils lui dirent: Nous n’avons ici que cinq pains et deux poissons.

Y ellos dijeron: No tenemos aquí sino cinco panes y dos peces.

And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”

Et il dit: Apportez-les-moi.

Y él les dijo: Traédmelos acá.

He said, Bring them hither to me.

He said, “Bring them here to me.”

Il fit asseoir la foule sur l’herbe, prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons, et, levant les yeux vers le ciel, il rendit grâces. Puis, il rompit les pains et les donna aux disciples, qui les distribuèrent à la foule.

Y mandando á las gentes recostarse sobre la hierba, tomando los cinco panes y los dos peces, alzando los ojos al cielo, bendijo, y partió y dió los panes á los discípulos, y los discípulos á las gentes.

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés, et l’on emporta douze paniers pleins des morceaux qui restaient.

Y comieron todos, y se hartaron; y alzaron lo que sobró de los pedazos, doce cestas llenas.

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

Ceux qui avaient mangé étaient environ cinq mille hommes, sans les femmes et les enfants.

Y los que comieron fueron como cinco mil hombres, sin las mujeres y los niños.

Aussitôt après, il obligea les disciples à monter dans la barque et à passer avant lui de l’autre côté, pendant qu’il renverrait la foule.

Y luego Jesús hizo á sus discípulos entrar en el barco, é ir delante de él á la otra parte del lago, entre tanto que él despedía á las gentes.

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

Quand il l’eut renvoyée, il monta sur la montagne, pour prier à l’écart; et, comme le soir était venu, il était là seul.

Y despedidas las gentes, subió al monte, apartado, á orar: y como fué la tarde del día, estaba allí solo.

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

La barque, déjà au milieu de la mer, était battue par les flots; car le vent était contraire.

Y ya el barco estaba en medio de la mar, atormentado de las ondas; porque el viento era contrario.

But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

A la quatrième veille de la nuit, Jésus alla vers eux, marchant sur la mer.

Mas á la cuarta vela de la noche, Jesús fué á ellos andando sobre la mar.

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

Quand les disciples le virent marcher sur la mer, ils furent troublés, et dirent: C’est un fantôme! Et, dans leur frayeur, ils poussèrent des cris.

Y los discípulos, viéndole andar sobre la mar, se turbaron, diciendo: Fantasma es. Y dieron voces de miedo.

And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

Jésus leur dit aussitôt: Rassurez-vous, c’est moi; n’ayez pas peur!

Mas luego Jesús les habló, diciendo: Confiad, yo soy; no tengáis miedo.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”

Pierre lui répondit: Seigneur, si c’est toi, ordonne que j’aille vers toi sur les eaux.

Entonces le respondió Pedro, y dijo: Señor, si tú eres, manda que yo vaya á ti sobre las aguas.

And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”

Et il dit: Viens! Pierre sortit de la barque, et marcha sur les eaux, pour aller vers Jésus.

Y él dijo: Ven. Y descendiendo Pedro del barco, andaba sobre las aguas para ir á Jesús.

And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.

Mais, voyant que le vent était fort, il eut peur; et, comme il commençait à enfoncer, il s’écria: Seigneur, sauve-moi!

Mas viendo el viento fuerte, tuvo miedo; y comenzándose á hundir, dió voces, diciendo: Señor, sálvame.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Aussitôt Jésus étendit la main, le saisit, et lui dit: Homme de peu de foi, pourquoi as-tu douté?

Y luego Jesús, extendiendo la mano, trabó de él, y le dice: Oh hombre de poca fe, ¿por qué dudaste?

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Et ils montèrent dans la barque, et le vent cessa.

Y como ellos entraron en el barco, sosegóse el viento.

And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.

Ceux qui étaient dans la barque vinrent se prosterner devant Jésus, et dirent: Tu es véritablement le Fils de Dieu.

Entonces los que estaban en el barco, vinieron y le adoraron, diciendo: Verdaderamente eres Hijo de Dios.

Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”

Après avoir traversé la mer, ils vinrent dans le pays de Génésareth.

Y llegando á la otra parte, vinieron á la tierra de Genezaret.

And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.

Les gens de ce lieu, ayant reconnu Jésus, envoyèrent des messagers dans tous les environs, et on lui amena tous les malades.

Y como le conocieron los hombres de aquel lugar, enviaron por toda aquella tierra alrededor, y trajeron á él todos los enfermos;

And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;

When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region and brought to him all who were sick;

Ils le prièrent de leur permettre seulement de toucher le bord de son vêtement. Et tous ceux qui le touchèrent furent guéris.

Y le rogaban que solamente tocasen el borde de su manto; y todos los que tocaron, quedaron sanos.

And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
