Zu jener Zeit hörte der Vierfürst Herodes das Gerücht von Jesus.

EN aquel tiempo Herodes el tetrarca oyó la fama de Jesús,

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,

Und er sprach zu seinen Dienern: Das ist Johannes der Täufer; der ist von den Toten auferstanden; darum sind auch die Kräfte wirksam in ihm!

Y dijo á sus criados: Este es Juan el Bautista: él ha resucitado de los muertos, y por eso virtudes obran en él.

And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”

Denn Herodes hatte den Johannes greifen, binden und ins Gefängnis legen lassen, wegen Herodias, der Frau seines Bruders Philippus.

Porque Herodes había prendido á Juan, y le había aprisionado y puesto en la cárcel, por causa de Herodías, mujer de Felipe su hermano;

For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife.

Denn Johannes hatte zu ihm gesagt: Es ist dir nicht erlaubt, sie zu haben!

Porque Juan le decía: No te es lícito tenerla.

Und er wollte ihn töten, fürchtete aber das Volk, denn sie hielten ihn für einen Propheten.

Als nun Herodes seinen Geburtstag beging, tanzte die Tochter der Herodias vor den Gästen und gefiel dem Herodes.

Darum verhieß er ihr mit einem Eide, ihr zu geben, was sie auch fordern würde.

Y prometió él con juramento de darle todo lo que pidiese.

Da sie aber von ihrer Mutter angeleitet war, sprach sie: Gib mir hier auf einer Schüssel das Haupt Johannes des Täufers!

And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger.

Und der König ward betrübt; doch um des Eides willen und derer, die mit ihm zu Tische saßen, befahl er, es zu geben.

Entonces el rey se entristeció; mas por el juramento, y por los que estaban juntamente á la mesa, mandó que se le diese.

And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,

Und er sandte hin und ließ Johannes im Gefängnis enthaupten.

Y enviando, degolló á Juan en la cárcel.

Und sein Haupt wurde auf einer Schüssel gebracht und dem Mädchen gegeben, und sie brachte es ihrer Mutter.

Und seine Jünger kamen herbei, nahmen den Leichnam und begruben ihn und gingen hin und verkündigten es Jesus.

Entonces llegaron sus discípulos, y tomaron el cuerpo, y lo enterraron; y fueron, y dieron las nuevas á Jesús.

And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

Als aber Jesus das hörte, entwich er von dort in einem Schiff abseits an einen einsamen Ort. Und als die Volksmenge es vernahm, folgte sie ihm aus den Städten zu Fuß nach.

Y oyéndolo Jesús, se apartó de allí en un barco á un lugar descierto, apartado: y cuando las gentes lo oyeron, le siguieron á pie de las ciudades.

When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.

Als nun Jesus hervorkam, sah er eine große Menge und erbarmte sich über sie und heilte ihre Kranken.

Y saliendo Jesús, vió un gran gentío, y tuvo compasión de ellos, y sanó á los que de ellos había enfermos.

And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Jesus went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Und als es Abend geworden, traten seine Jünger zu ihm und sprachen: Der Ort ist öde, und die Stunde ist schon vorgeschritten; entlaß das Volk, damit sie in die Dörfer gehen und sich Speise kaufen!

Y cuando fué la tarde del día, se llegaron á él sus discípulos, diciendo: El lugar es desierto, y el tiempo es ya pasado: despide las gentes, para que se vayan por las aldeas, y compren para sí de comer.

And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”

Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Sie haben nicht nötig hinzugehen; gebt ihr ihnen zu essen!

Y Jesús les dijo: No tienen necesidad de irse: dadles vosotros de comer.

But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

Sie sprachen zu ihm: Wir haben nichts hier als fünf Brote und zwei Fische.

Y ellos dijeron: No tenemos aquí sino cinco panes y dos peces.

And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”

Er sprach: Bringt sie mir hierher!

Y él les dijo: Traédmelos acá.

He said, Bring them hither to me.

He said, “Bring them here to me.”

Und er befahl dem Volk, sich in das Gras zu lagern, nahm die fünf Brote und die zwei Fische, sah zum Himmel auf, dankte, brach und gab den Jüngern die Brote, die Jünger aber †gaben sie dem Volk.

Y mandando á las gentes recostarse sobre la hierba, tomando los cinco panes y los dos peces, alzando los ojos al cielo, bendijo, y partió y dió los panes á los discípulos, y los discípulos á las gentes.

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

Und sie aßen alle und wurden satt; und sie hoben auf, was übrigblieb an Brocken, zwölf Körbe voll.

Y comieron todos, y se hartaron; y alzaron lo que sobró de los pedazos, doce cestas llenas.

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

They all ate and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.

Die aber gegessen hatten, waren etwa fünftausend Männer, ohne Frauen und Kinder.

Y los que comieron fueron como cinco mil hombres, sin las mujeres y los niños.

And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

Those who ate were about five thousand men, in addition to women and children.

Und alsbald nötigte er seine Jünger, in das Schiff zu steigen und vor ihm ans jenseitige Ufer zu fahren, bis er die Volksmenge entlassen hätte.

Y luego Jesús hizo á sus discípulos entrar en el barco, é ir delante de él á la otra parte del lago, entre tanto que él despedía á las gentes.

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

Und nachdem er die Menge entlassen, stieg er auf den Berg, um abseits zu beten; und als es Abend geworden, war er allein daselbst.

Y despedidas las gentes, subió al monte, apartado, á orar: y como fué la tarde del día, estaba allí solo.

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.

Das Schiff aber war schon mitten auf dem Meer und litt Not von den Wellen; denn der Wind war entgegen.

Y ya el barco estaba en medio de la mar, atormentado de las ondas; porque el viento era contrario.

But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

Aber um die vierte Nachtwache kam Jesus zu ihnen und wandelte auf dem Meer.

Mas á la cuarta vela de la noche, Jesús fué á ellos andando sobre la mar.

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

Als ihn aber die Jünger auf dem Meere wandeln sahen, erschraken sie und sprachen: Es ist ein Gespenst, und schrieen vor Furcht.

Y los discípulos, viéndole andar sobre la mar, se turbaron, diciendo: Fantasma es. Y dieron voces de miedo.

And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

Jesus aber redete alsbald mit ihnen und sprach: Seid getrost! Ich bin's; fürchtet euch nicht!

Mas luego Jesús les habló, diciendo: Confiad, yo soy; no tengáis miedo.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”

Petrus aber antwortete ihm und sprach: Herr, bist du es, so heiße mich zu dir auf das Wasser kommen!

Entonces le respondió Pedro, y dijo: Señor, si tú eres, manda que yo vaya á ti sobre las aguas.

And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”

Da sprach er: Komm! Und Petrus stieg aus dem Schiff und wandelte auf dem Wasser und kam auf Jesus zu.

Y él dijo: Ven. Y descendiendo Pedro del barco, andaba sobre las aguas para ir á Jesús.

And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.

Als er aber den starken Wind sah, fürchtete er sich, und da er zu sinken anfing, schrie er und sprach: Herr, rette mich!

Mas viendo el viento fuerte, tuvo miedo; y comenzándose á hundir, dió voces, diciendo: Señor, sálvame.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Jesus aber streckte alsbald die Hand aus, ergriff ihn und sprach zu ihm: Du Kleingläubiger, warum zweifeltest du?

Y luego Jesús, extendiendo la mano, trabó de él, y le dice: Oh hombre de poca fe, ¿por qué dudaste?

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Und als sie in das Schiff stiegen, legte sich der Wind.

Y como ellos entraron en el barco, sosegóse el viento.

And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.

Da kamen, die in dem Schiffe waren, fielen vor ihm nieder und sprachen: Wahrhaftig, du bist Gottes Sohn!

Entonces los que estaban en el barco, vinieron y le adoraron, diciendo: Verdaderamente eres Hijo de Dios.

Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”

Und sie fuhren hinüber und kamen in das Land Genezareth.

Y llegando á la otra parte, vinieron á la tierra de Genezaret.

And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.

Und da ihn die Männer dieser Gegend erkannten, sandten sie in die ganze Umgegend und brachten alle Kranken zu ihm.

Y como le conocieron los hombres de aquel lugar, enviaron por toda aquella tierra alrededor, y trajeron á él todos los enfermos;

And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;

When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region and brought to him all who were sick;

Und sie baten ihn, daß sie nur den Saum seines Kleides anrühren dürften; und so viele ihn anrührten, die wurden ganz gesund.

Y le rogaban que solamente tocasen el borde de su manto; y todos los que tocaron, quedaron sanos.

And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
