1Alors des pharisiens et des scribes vinrent de Jérusalem auprès de Jésus, et dirent:
2Pourquoi tes disciples transgressent-ils la tradition des anciens? Car ils ne se lavent pas les mains, quand ils prennent leurs repas.
3Il leur répondit: Et vous, pourquoi transgressez-vous le commandement de Dieu au profit de votre tradition?
4Car Dieu a dit: Honore ton père et ta mère; et:Celui qui maudira son père ou sa mère sera puni de mort.
5Mais vous, vous dites: Celui qui dira à son père ou à sa mère: Ce dont j’aurais pu t’assister est une offrande à Dieu, n’est pas tenu d’honorer son père ou sa mère.
6Vous annulez ainsi la parole de Dieu au profit de votre tradition.
7Hypocrites, Ésaïe a bien prophétisé sur vous, quand il a dit:
8Ce peuple m’honore des lèvres, Mais son cœur est éloigné de moi.
9C’est en vain qu’ils m’honorent, En enseignant des préceptes qui sontdes commandements d’hommes.
10Ayant appelé à lui la foule, il lui dit: Écoutez, et comprenez.
11Ce n’est pas ce qui entre dans la bouche qui souille l’homme; mais ce qui sort de la bouche, c’est ce qui souille l’homme.
12Alors ses disciples s’approchèrent, et lui dirent: Sais-tu que les pharisiens ont été scandalisés des paroles qu’ils ont entendues?
13Il répondit: Toute plante que n’a pas plantée mon Père céleste sera déracinée.
14Laissez-les:ce sont des aveugles qui conduisent des aveugles; si un aveugle conduit un aveugle, ils tomberont tous deux dans une fosse.
15Pierre, prenant la parole, lui dit: Explique-nous cette parabole.
16Et Jésus dit: Vous aussi, êtes-vous encore sans intelligence?
17Ne comprenez-vous pas que tout ce qui entre dans la bouche va dans le ventre, puis est jeté dans les lieux secrets?
18Mais ce qui sort de la bouche vient du cœur, et c’est ce qui souille l’homme.
19Car c’est du cœur que viennent les mauvaises pensées, les meurtres, les adultères, les impudicités, les vols, les faux témoignages, les calomnies.
20Voilà les choses qui souillent l’homme; mais manger sans s’être lavé les mains, cela ne souille point l’homme.
21Jésus, étant parti de là, se retira dans le territoire de Tyr et de Sidon.
22Et voici, une femme cananéenne, qui venait de ces contrées, lui cria: Aie pitié de moi, Seigneur, Fils de David! Ma fille est cruellement tourmentée par le démon.
23Il ne lui répondit pas un mot, et ses disciples s’approchèrent, et lui dirent avec instance: Renvoie-la, car elle crie derrière nous.
24Il répondit: Je n’ai été envoyé qu’aux brebis perdues de la maison d’Israël.
25Mais elle vint se prosterner devant lui, disant: Seigneur, secours-moi!
26Il répondit: Il n’est pas bien de prendre le pain des enfants, et de le jeter aux petits chiens.
27Oui, Seigneur, dit-elle, mais les petits chiens mangent les miettes qui tombent de la table de leurs maîtres.
28Alors Jésus lui dit: Femme, ta foi est grande; qu’il te soit fait comme tu veux. Et, à l’heure même, sa fille fut guérie.
29Jésus quitta ces lieux, et vint près de la mer de Galilée. Étant monté sur la montagne, il s’y assit.
30Alors s’approcha de lui une grande foule, ayant avec elle des boiteux, des aveugles, des muets, des estropiés, et beaucoup d’autres malades. On les mit à ses pieds, et il les guérit;
31en sorte que la foule était dans l’admiration de voir que les muets parlaient, que les estropiés étaient guéris, que les boiteux marchaient, que les aveugles voyaient; et elle glorifiait le Dieu d’Israël.
32Jésus, ayant appelé ses disciples, dit: Je suis ému de compassion pour cette foule; car voilà trois jours qu’ils sont près de moi, et ils n’ont rien à manger. Je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun, de peur que les forces ne leur manquent en chemin.
33Les disciples lui dirent: Comment nous procurer dans ce lieu désert assez de pains pour rassasier une si grande foule?
34Jésus leur demanda: Combien avez-vous de pains? Sept, répondirent-ils, et quelques petits poissons.
35Alors il fit asseoir la foule par terre,
36prit les sept pains et les poissons, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il les rompit et les donna à ses disciples, qui les distribuèrent à la foule.
37Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés, et l’on emporta sept corbeilles pleines des morceaux qui restaient.
38Ceux qui avaient mangé étaient quatre mille hommes, sans les femmes et les enfants.
39Ensuite, il renvoya la foule, monta dans la barque, et se rendit dans la contrée de Magadan.

1ENTONCES llegaron á Jesús ciertos escribas y Fariseos de Jerusalem, diciendo:
2¿Por qué tus discípulos traspasan la tradición de los ancianos? porque no se lavan las manos cuando comen pan.
3Y él respondiendo, les dijo: ¿Por qué también vosotros traspasáis el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición?
4Porque Dios mandó, diciendo: Honra al padre y á la madre, y, El que maldijere al padre ó á la madre, muera de muerte.
5Mas vosotros decís: Cualquiera que dijere al padre ó á la madre: Es ya ofrenda mía á Dios todo aquello con que pudiera valerte;
6No deberá honrar á su padre ó á su madre con socorro. Así habéis invalidado el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición.
7Hipócritas, bien profetizó de vosotros Isaías, diciendo:
8Este pueblo de labios me honra; mas su corazón lejos está de mí.
9Mas en vano me honran, enseñando doctrinas y mandamientos de hombres.
10Y llamando á sí las gentes, les dijo: Oid, y entended:
11No lo que entra en la boca contamina al hombre; mas lo que sale de la boca, esto contamina al hombre.
12Entonces llegándose sus discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Sabes que los Fariseos oyendo esta palabra se ofendieron?
13Mas respondiendo él, dijo: Toda planta que no plantó mi Padre celestial, será desarraigada.
14Dejadlos: son ciegos guías de ciegos; y si el ciego guiare al ciego, ambos caerán en el hoyo.
15Y respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Decláranos esta parábola.
16Y Jesús dijo: ¿Aun también vosotros sois sin entendimiento?
17¿No entendéis aún, que todo lo que entra en la boca, va al vientre, y es echado en la letrina?
18Mas lo que sale de la boca, del corazón sale; y esto contamina al hombre.
19Porque del corazón salen los malos pensamientos, muertes, adulterios, fornicaciones, hurtos, falsos testimonios, blasfemias.
20Estas cosas son las que contaminan al hombre: que comer con las manos por lavar no contamina al hombre.
21Y saliendo Jesús de allí, se fué á las partes de Tiro y de Sidón.
22Y he aquí una mujer Cananea, que había salido de aquellos términos, clamaba, diciéndole: Señor, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí; mi hija es malamente atormentada del demonio.
23Mas él no le respondió palabra. Entonces llegándose sus discípulos, le rogaron, diciendo: Despáchala, pues da voces tras nosotros.
24Y él respondiendo, dijo: No soy enviado sino á las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel.
25Entonces ella vino, y le adoró, diciendo: Señor, socórreme.
26Y respondiendo él, dijo: No es bien tomar el pan de los hijos, y echarlo á los perrillos.
27Y ella dijo: Sí, Señor; mas los perrillos comen de las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus señores.
28Entonces respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Oh mujer, grande es tu fe; sea hecho contigo como quieres. Y fué sana su hija desde aquella hora.
29Y partido Jesús de allí, vino junto al mar de Galilea: y subiendo al monte, se sentó allí.
30Y llegaron á él muchas gentes, que tenían consigo cojos, ciegos, mudos, mancos, y otros muchos enfermos: y los echaron á los pies de Jesús, y los sanó:
31De manera que se maravillaban las gentes, viendo hablar los mudos, los mancos sanos, andar los cojos, y ver los ciegos: y glorificaron al Dios de Israel.
32Y Jesús llamando á sus discípulos, dijo: Tengo lástima de la gente, que ya hace tres días que perseveran conmigo, y no tienen qué comer; y enviarlos ayunos no quiero, porque no desmayen en el camino.
33Entonces sus discípulos le dicen: ¿Dónde tenemos nosotros tantos panes en el desierto, que hartemos á tan gran compañía?
34Y Jesús les dice: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete, y unos pocos pececillos.
35Y mandó á las gentes que se recostasen sobre la tierra.
36Y tomando los siete panes y los peces, haciendo gracias, partió y dió á sus discípulos; y los discípulos á la gente.
37Y comieron todos, y se hartaron: y alzaron lo que sobró de los pedazos, siete espuertas llenas.
38Y eran los que habían comido, cuatro mil hombres, sin las mujeres y los niños.
39Entonces, despedidas las gentes, subió en el barco: y vino á los términos de Magdalá.

1Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
21Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
31Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.

1Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,
2“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.”
3He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
4For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’
5But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”
6he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.
7You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
8‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’”
10He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.
11That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
12Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
13But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted.
14Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
15Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”
16So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand?
17Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly and then out of the body?
18But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.
19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
20These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn’t defile the man.”
21Jesus went out from there and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.
22Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!”
23But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”
24But he answered, “I wasn’t sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”
26But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
27But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
28Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
29Jesus departed from there and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up on the mountain and sat there.
30Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,
31so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, the injured healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.
32Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have continued with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”
33The disciples said to him, “Where could we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”
34Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
35He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;
36and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
37They all ate and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.
38Those who ate were four thousand men, in addition to women and children.
39Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
