1ED accostatisi a lui i Farisei, e i Sadducei, tentandolo, lo richiesero di mostrar loro un segno dal cielo.
2Ma egli, rispondendo, disse loro: Quando si fa sera, voi dite: Farà tempo sereno, perciocchè il cielo rosseggia.
3E la mattina dite: Oggi sarà tempesta, perciocchè il cielo tutto mesto rosseggia. Ipocriti, ben sapete discernere l'aspetto del cielo, e non potete discernere i segni de' tempi!
4La gente malvagia ed adultera richiede un segno, ma segno alcuno non le sarà dato, se non il segno del profeta Giona. E, lasciatili, se ne andò.
5E quando i suoi discepoli furon giunti all'altra riva, ecco, aveano dimenticato di prender del pane.
6E Gesù disse loro: Vedete, guardatevi dal lievito de' Farisei, e de' Sadducei.
7Ed essi ragionavano fra loro, dicendo: Noi non abbiam preso del pane.
8E Gesù, conosciuto ciò, disse loro: Perchè questionate fra voi, o uomini di poca fede, di ciò che non avete preso del pane?
9Ancora siete voi senza intelletto, e non vi ricordate dei cinque pani de' cinquemila uomini, e quanti corbelli ne levaste?
10Nè de' sette pani de' quattromila uomini, e quanti panieri ne levaste?
11Come non intendete voi, che non del pane vi dissi che vi guardaste dal lievito de' Farisei, e de' Sadducei?
12Allora intesero ch'egli non avea detto che si guardassero dal lievito del pane, ma della dottrina dei Farisei, e de' Sadducei.
13POI Gesù, essendo venuto nelle parti di Cesarea di Filippo, domandò i suoi discepoli: Chi dicono gli uomini che io, il Figliuol dell'uomo, sono?
14Ed essi dissero: Alcuni, Giovanni Battista; altri, Elia; altri, Geremia, od uno de' profeti.
15Ed egli disse loro: E voi, chi dite che io sono?
16E Simon Pietro, rispondendo, disse: Tu sei il Cristo, il Figliuol dell'Iddio vivente.
17E Gesù, rispondendo, gli disse: Tu sei beato, o Simone, figliuol di Giona, poichè la carne ed il sangue non t'hanno rivelato questo, ma il Padre mio che è ne' cieli.
18Ed io altresì ti dico, che tu sei Pietro, e sopra questa pietra io edificherò la mia chiesa, e le porte dell'inferno non la portranno vincere.
19Ed io ti darò le chiavi del regno dei cieli; e tutto ciò che avrai legato in terra sarà legato ne' cieli, e tutto ciò che avrai sciolto in terra sarà sciolto ne' cieli.
20Allora egli divietò a' suoi discepoli, che non dicessero ad alcuno ch'egli fosse Gesù, il Cristo.
21Da quell'ora Gesù cominciò a dichiarare a' suoi discepoli, che gli conveniva andare in Gerusalemme, e sofferir molte cose dagli anziani, e da' principali sacerdoti, e dagli Scribi, ed essere ucciso, e risuscitare nel terzo giorno.
22E Pietro, trattolo da parte, cominciò a riprenderlo, dicendo: Signore, tolga ciò Iddio; questo non ti avverrà punto.
23Ma egli, rivoltosi, disse a Pietro: Vattene indietro da me, Satana; tu mi sei in iscandalo, perciocchè tu non hai il senso alle cose di Dio, ma alle cose degli uomini.
24ALLORA Gesù disse a' suoi discepoli: Se alcuno vuol venir dietro a me, rinunzi a sè stesso, e tolga la sua croce, e mi segua.
25Perciocchè, chi avrà voluto salvar la vita sua la perderà; ma chi avrà perduta la vita sua, per amor di me, la troverà.
26Perciocchè, che giova egli all'uomo, se guadagna tutto il mondo, e fa perdita dell'anima sua? ovvero, che darà l'uomo in iscambio dell'anima sua?
27Perciocchè il Figliuol dell'uomo verrà nella gloria del Padre suo, co' suoi angeli; ed allora egli renderà la retribuzione a ciascuno secondo i suoi fatti.
28Io vi dico in verità, che alcuni di coloro che son qui presenti non gusteranno la morte, che non abbiano veduto il Figliuol dell'uomo venir nel suo regno.

1Y LLEGÁNDOSE los Fariseos y los Saduceos para tentarle, le pedían que les mostrase señal del cielo.
2Mas él respondiendo, les dijo: Cuando es la tarde del día, decís: Sereno; porque el cielo tiene arreboles.
3Y á la mañana: Hoy tempestad; porque tiene arreboles el cielo triste. Hipócritas, que sabéis hacer diferencia en la faz del cielo; ¿y en las señales de los tiempos no podéis?
4La generación mala y adulterina demanda señal; mas señal no le será dada, sino la señal de Jonás profeta. Y dejándolos, se fué.
5Y viniendo sus discípulos de la otra parte del lago, se habían olvidado de tomar pan.
6Y Jesús les dijo: Mirad, y guardaos de la levadura de los Fariseos y de los Saduceos.
7Y ellos pensaban dentro de sí, diciendo: Esto dice porque no tomamos pan.
8Y entendiéndolo Jesús, les dijo: ¿Por qué pensáis dentro de vosotros, hombres de poca fe, que no tomasteis pan?
9¿No entendéis aún, ni os acordáis de los cinco panes entre cinco mil hombres, y cuántos cestos alzasteis?
10¿Ni de los siete panes entre cuatro mil, y cuántas espuertas tomasteis?
11¿Cómo es que no entendéis que no por el pan os dije, que os guardaseis de la levadura de los Fariseos y de los Saduceos?
12Entonces entendieron que no les había dicho que se guardasen de la levadura de pan, sino de la doctrina de los Fariseos y de los Saduceos.
13Y viniendo Jesús á las partes de Cesarea de Filipo, preguntó á sus discípulos, diciendo: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del hombre?
14Y ellos dijeron: Unos, Juan el Bautista; y otros, Elías; y otros, Jeremías, ó alguno de los profetas.
15El les dice: Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy?
16Y respondiendo Simón Pedro, dijo: Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo del Dios viviente.
17Entonces, respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Bienaventurado eres, Simón, hijo de Jonás; porque no te lo reveló carne ni sangre, mas mi Padre que está en los cielos.
18Mas yo también te digo, que tú eres Pedro, y sobre esta piedra edificaré mi iglesia; y las puertas del infierno no prevalecerán contra ella.
19Y á ti daré las llaves del reino de los cielos; y todo lo que ligares en la tierra será ligado en los cielos; y todo lo que desatares en la tierra será desatado en los cielos.
20Entonces mandó á sus discípulos que á nadie dijesen que él era Jesús el Cristo.
21Desde aquel tiempo comenzó Jesús á declarar á sus discípulos que le convenía ir á Jerusalem, y padecer mucho de los ancianos, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los escribas; y ser muerto, y resucitar al tercer día.
22Y Pedro, tomándolo aparte, comenzó á reprenderle, diciendo: Señor, ten compasión de ti: en ninguna manera esto te acontezca.
23Entonces él, volviéndose, dijo á Pedro: Quítate de delante de mí, Satanás; me eres escándalo; porque no entiendes lo que es de Dios sino lo que es de los hombres.
24Entonces Jesús dijo á sus discípulos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese á sí mismo, y tome su cruz, y sígame.
25Porque cualquiera que quisiere salvar su vida, la perderá, y cualquiera que perdiere su vida por causa de mí, la hallará.
26Porque ¿de qué aprovecha al hombre, si granjeare todo el mundo, y perdiere su alma? O ¿qué recompensa dará el hombre por su alma?
27Porque el Hijo del hombre vendrá en la gloria de su Padre con sus ángeles, y entonces pagará á cada uno conforme á sus obras.
28De cierto os digo: hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no gustarán la muerte, hasta que hayan visto al Hijo del hombre viniendo en su reino.

1The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
2He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
3And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
4A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
5And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
6Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
8Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
9Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
11How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
13When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
28Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

1The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
2But he answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’
3In the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you can’t discern the signs of the times!
4An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” He left them and departed.
5The disciples came to the other side and had forgotten to take bread.
6Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
7They reasoned among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.”
8Jesus, perceiving it, said, “Why do you reason among yourselves, you of little faith, because you have brought no bread?
9Don’t you yet perceive or remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up,
10or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
11How is it that you don’t perceive that I didn’t speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
12Then they understood that he didn’t tell them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
14They said, “Some say John the Baptizer, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
17Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
18I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
19I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.”
20Then he commanded the disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.
21From that time, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.
22Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This will never be done to you.”
23But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.”
24Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
25For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.
26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
27For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will give to everyone according to his deeds.
28Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”
