Un día, los fariseos y los saduceos fueron a donde estaba Jesús a pedirle que demostrara, con alguna señal milagrosa en el cielo, que él había sido enviado por Dios.
Y LLEGÁNDOSE los Fariseos y los Saduceos para tentarle, le pedían que les mostrase señal del cielo.
The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
―De veras me sorprende —les respondió Jesús—. Ustedes pueden leer en el cielo las predicciones del tiempo. Si el cielo se pone rojo hoy por la tarde saben que habrá buen tiempo mañana;
Mas él respondiendo, les dijo: Cuando es la tarde del día, decís: Sereno; porque el cielo tiene arreboles.
He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
But he answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’
y si por la mañana se pone rojo, saben que habrá tempestad. ¡Y sin embargo, no pueden leer las notorias señales de los tiempos!
Y á la mañana: Hoy tempestad; porque tiene arreboles el cielo triste. Hipócritas, que sabéis hacer diferencia en la faz del cielo; ¿y en las señales de los tiempos no podéis?
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
In the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you can’t discern the signs of the times!
Esta generación perversa e incrédula pide que se le den señales en los cielos, pero no verá más señal que la de Jonás. Y se fue de allí.
La generación mala y adulterina demanda señal; mas señal no le será dada, sino la señal de Jonás profeta. Y dejándolos, se fué.
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” He left them and departed.
Al llegar al otro lado del lago, los discípulos se dieron cuenta de que se les había olvidado la comida. En aquel preciso instante Jesús les decía:
Y viniendo sus discípulos de la otra parte del lago, se habían olvidado de tomar pan.
And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
The disciples came to the other side and had forgotten to take bread.
―¡Cuídense de la levadura de los fariseos y de los saduceos!
Y Jesús les dijo: Mirad, y guardaos de la levadura de los Fariseos y de los Saduceos.
Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Los discípulos pensaron que les decía eso porque se les había olvidado llevar pan.
Y ellos pensaban dentro de sí, diciendo: Esto dice porque no tomamos pan.
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
They reasoned among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.”
Pero Jesús, que sabía lo que estaban pensando, les dijo: ―¡Qué hombres con tan poca fe! ¿Por qué se preocupan tanto por la comida?
Y entendiéndolo Jesús, les dijo: ¿Por qué pensáis dentro de vosotros, hombres de poca fe, que no tomasteis pan?
Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
Jesus, perceiving it, said, “Why do you reason among yourselves, you of little faith, because you have brought no bread?
¿Cuándo van a entender? ¿Ya se les olvidó que alimenté a cinco mil personas con cinco panes, y que sobraron varias cestas de comida?
¿No entendéis aún, ni os acordáis de los cinco panes entre cinco mil hombres, y cuántos cestos alzasteis?
Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
Don’t you yet perceive or remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up,
¿Y se les olvidó los cuatro mil que alimenté y las cestas de comida que sobraron?
¿Ni de los siete panes entre cuatro mil, y cuántas espuertas tomasteis?
Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
¿Cómo se les ocurre pensar que me estoy refiriendo a la comida? Lo que dije fue que se cuidaran de la “levadura” de los fariseos y de los saduceos.
¿Cómo es que no entendéis que no por el pan os dije, que os guardaseis de la levadura de los Fariseos y de los Saduceos?
How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
How is it that you don’t perceive that I didn’t speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Por fin entendieron que no se refería a la levadura del pan, sino a las enseñanzas falsas de los fariseos y de los saduceos.
Entonces entendieron que no les había dicho que se guardasen de la levadura de pan, sino de la doctrina de los Fariseos y de los Saduceos.
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Then they understood that he didn’t tell them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Al llegar a Cesarea de Filipo, les preguntó: «¿Quién dice la gente que soy?».
Y viniendo Jesús á las partes de Cesarea de Filipo, preguntó á sus discípulos, diciendo: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del hombre?
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
―Bueno —le respondieron—, algunos dicen que eres Juan el Bautista; otros, que eres Elías; y otros, que eres Jeremías o alguno de los profetas.
Y ellos dijeron: Unos, Juan el Bautista; y otros, Elías; y otros, Jeremías, ó alguno de los profetas.
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
They said, “Some say John the Baptizer, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
―¿Y quién creen ustedes que soy?
El les dice: Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy?
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
―¡Tú eres el Cristo, el Mesías, el Hijo del Dios viviente! —respondió Simón Pedro.
Y respondiendo Simón Pedro, dijo: Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo del Dios viviente.
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
―Dios te ha bendecido, Simón, hijo de Jonás —le dijo Jesús—, porque esto no lo aprendiste de labios humanos. ¡Mi Padre celestial te lo reveló personalmente!
Entonces, respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Bienaventurado eres, Simón, hijo de Jonás; porque no te lo reveló carne ni sangre, mas mi Padre que está en los cielos.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
Tú eres Pedro,y sobre esta roca edificaré mi iglesia, y los poderes del infierno no prevalecerán contra ella.
Mas yo también te digo, que tú eres Pedro, y sobre esta piedra edificaré mi iglesia; y las puertas del infierno no prevalecerán contra ella.
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
Te daré las llaves del reino de los cielos: la puerta que cierres en la tierra se cerrará en el cielo; y la puerta que abras en la tierra se abrirá en el cielo.
Y á ti daré las llaves del reino de los cielos; y todo lo que ligares en la tierra será ligado en los cielos; y todo lo que desatares en la tierra será desatado en los cielos.
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.”
A continuación les suplicó que no le dijeran a nadie que él era el Mesías.
Entonces mandó á sus discípulos que á nadie dijesen que él era Jesús el Cristo.
Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
Then he commanded the disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.
Desde entonces empezó a explicarles claramente que era imprescindible que fuera a Jerusalén, que allí sufriría mucho en manos de los dirigentes judíos; y que, aunque al fin lo matarían, a los tres días resucitaría.
Desde aquel tiempo comenzó Jesús á declarar á sus discípulos que le convenía ir á Jerusalem, y padecer mucho de los ancianos, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los escribas; y ser muerto, y resucitar al tercer día.
From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Pedro, inquieto, lo llamó aparte y lo reprendió: ―¡Dios guarde, Señor! —le dijo—. ¡A ti no te puede pasar eso que dices!
Y Pedro, tomándolo aparte, comenzó á reprenderle, diciendo: Señor, ten compasión de ti: en ninguna manera esto te acontezca.
Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This will never be done to you.”
―¡Apártate de mí, Satanás! —dijo Jesús mirando a Pedro—. ¡Me eres un estorbo! ¡Estás mirando las cosas desde el punto de vista humano y no del divino!
Entonces él, volviéndose, dijo á Pedro: Quítate de delante de mí, Satanás; me eres escándalo; porque no entiendes lo que es de Dios sino lo que es de los hombres.
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.”
Y dijo luego a los discípulos: ―Si alguien desea seguirme, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame.
Entonces Jesús dijo á sus discípulos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese á sí mismo, y tome su cruz, y sígame.
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
Porque el que trate de vivir para sí, perderá la vida; pero el que pierda la vida por mi causa, la hallará.
Porque cualquiera que quisiere salvar su vida, la perderá, y cualquiera que perdiere su vida por causa de mí, la hallará.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.
¿De qué les sirve ganarse el mundo entero y perder la vida eterna? ¿Habrá algún valor terrenal que compense la pérdida del alma?
Porque ¿de qué aprovecha al hombre, si granjeare todo el mundo, y perdiere su alma? O ¿qué recompensa dará el hombre por su alma?
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
Yo, el Hijo del hombre, vendré con los ángeles en la gloria de mi Padre y juzgaré a cada persona según sus obras.
Porque el Hijo del hombre vendrá en la gloria de su Padre con sus ángeles, y entonces pagará á cada uno conforme á sus obras.
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will give to everyone according to his deeds.
Y algunos de los que están aquí ahora mismo no morirán sin verme venir en mi reino.
De cierto os digo: hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no gustarán la muerte, hasta que hayan visto al Hijo del hombre viniendo en su reino.
Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”
