Aquí vinieron a encontrarle los fariseos y saduceos; y, para tentarle, le pidieron que les hiciese ver algún prodigio del cielo.

Y por la mañana: Tempestad habrá hoy, porque el cielo está cubierto y encendido.
Y á la mañana: Hoy tempestad; porque tiene arreboles el cielo triste. Hipócritas, que sabéis hacer diferencia en la faz del cielo; ¿y en las señales de los tiempos no podéis?
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
In the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you can’t discern the signs of the times!
¿Conque sabéis adivinar por el aspecto del cielo, y no podéis conocer las señales claras de estos tiempos de la venida del Mesías? Esta raza o generación mala y adúltera pide un prodigio; mas no se le dará ése que pide, sino el prodigio del profeta Jonás . Y dejándolos, se fue.
La generación mala y adulterina demanda señal; mas señal no le será dada, sino la señal de Jonás profeta. Y dejándolos, se fué.
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Sus discípulos, habiendo venido de la otra parte del lago, se olvidaron de tomar pan.

Mas ellos, pensativos, decían para consigo: Esto lo dice porque no hemos traído pan.

Lo que conociendo Jesús , dijo: Hombres de poca fe, ¿qué andáis discurriendo dentro de vosotros, porque no tenéis pan?
Y entendiéndolo Jesús, les dijo: ¿Por qué pensáis dentro de vosotros, hombres de poca fe, que no tomasteis pan?
Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
Jesus, perceiving it, said, “Why do you reason among yourselves, you of little faith, because you have brought no bread?
¿Todavía estáis sin conocimiento, y no os acordáis de los cinco panes repartidos entre cinco mil hombres, y cuántos cestos de pedazos os quedaron?
¿No entendéis aún, ni os acordáis de los cinco panes entre cinco mil hombres, y cuántos cestos alzasteis?
Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

¿Ni de los siete panes para cuatro mil hombres, y cuántos recogisteis de lo que sobró?

¿Cómo no conocéis que no por el pan os he dicho: Guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos y saduceos?

How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
How is it that you don’t perceive that I didn’t speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Entonces entendieron que no quiso decir que se guardasen de la levadura que se pone en el pan, sino de la doctrina de los fariseos y saduceos.

Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Viniendo después Jesús al territorio de Cesarea de Filipo, preguntó a sus discípulos: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del hombre?

Respondieron ellos: Unos dicen que Juan Bautista, otros Elías, otros, en fin, Jeremías o alguno de los profetas.

And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

Y les dijo Jesús : Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo?
El les dice: Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy?
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Tomando la palabra Simón Pedro, dijo: Tú eres el Cristo , o Mesías, el Hijo del Dios vivo.

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Y a ti te daré las llaves del reino de los cielos; y todo lo que atares sobre la tierra, será también atado en los cielos; y todo lo que desatares sobre la tierra, será también desatado en los cielos.

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.”
Entonces mandó a sus discípulos que a nadie dijesen que él era Jesús , el Cristo , o Mesías.

Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Y desde luego comenzó a manifestar a sus discípulos que convenía que fuese él a Jerusalén , y que allí padeciese mucho de parte de los ancianos, y de los escribas, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y que fuese muerto, y que resucitase al tercer día.

From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Tomándole aparte Pedro, trataba de disuadírselo, diciendo: ¡Ah, Señor!, de ningún modo; no, no ha de verificarse eso en ti.
Y Pedro, tomándolo aparte, comenzó á reprenderle, diciendo: Señor, ten compasión de ti: en ninguna manera esto te acontezca.
Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This will never be done to you.”
Pero Jesús , vuelto a él, le dijo: Quítate de delante de mí, Satanás, que me escandalizas; porque no tienes conocimiento ni gusto de las cosas de Dios, sino de las de los hombres.
Entonces él, volviéndose, dijo á Pedro: Quítate de delante de mí, Satanás; me eres escándalo; porque no entiendes lo que es de Dios sino lo que es de los hombres.
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.”
Entonces dijo Jesús a sus discípulos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, y cargue con su cruz, y sígame.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Pues quien quisiere salvar su vida obrando contra mí, la perderá; mas quien perdiere su vida por amor a mí, la encontrará.
Porque cualquiera que quisiere salvar su vida, la perderá, y cualquiera que perdiere su vida por causa de mí, la hallará.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.
Porque ¿de qué le sirve al hombre el ganar todo el mundo, si pierde su alma? ¿O con qué cambio podrá el hombre rescatarla una vez perdida?
Porque ¿de qué aprovecha al hombre, si granjeare todo el mundo, y perdiere su alma? O ¿qué recompensa dará el hombre por su alma?
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
Ello es que el Hijo del hombre ha de venir revestido de la gloria de su Padre, acompañado de sus ángeles, a juzgar a los hombres; y entonces dará el pago a cada cual conforme a sus obras.
Porque el Hijo del hombre vendrá en la gloria de su Padre con sus ángeles, y entonces pagará á cada uno conforme á sus obras.
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will give to everyone according to his deeds.
En verdad os digo que hay aquí algunos que no han de morir antes que vean al Hijo del hombre aparecer en el esplendor de su reino.
De cierto os digo: hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no gustarán la muerte, hasta que hayan visto al Hijo del hombre viniendo en su reino.
Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”
