Comme il n’avait pas de quoi payer, son maître ordonna qu’il fût vendu, lui, sa femme, ses enfants, et tout ce qu’il avait, et que la dette fût acquittée.

Mas á éste, no pudiendo pagar, mandó su señor venderle, y á su mujer é hijos, con todo lo que tenía, y que se le pagase.

But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
