17Così da Abramo fino a Davide sono in tutto quattordici generazioni; e da Davide fino alla deportazione in Babilonia, quattordici generazioni; e dalla deportazione in Babilonia fino a Cristo, quattordici generazioni.
18Or la nascita di Gesù Cristo avvenne in questo modo. Maria, sua madre, era stata promessa sposa a Giuseppe; e prima che fossero venuti a stare insieme, si trovò incinta per virtù dello Spirito Santo.
19E Giuseppe, suo marito, essendo uomo giusto e non volendo esporla ad infamia, si propose di lasciarla occultamente.
20Ma mentre avea queste cose nell’animo, ecco che un angelo del Signore gli apparve in sogno, dicendo: Giuseppe, figliuol di Davide, non temere di prender teco Maria tua moglie; perché ciò che in lei è generato, è dallo Spirito Santo.
21Ed ella partorirà un figliuolo, e tu gli porrai nome Gesù, perché è lui che salverà il suo popolo dai loro peccati.
22Or tutto ciò avvenne, affinché si adempiesse quello che era stato detto dal Signore per mezzo del profeta:
23Ecco, la vergine sarà incinta e partorirà un figliuolo, al quale sarà posto nome Emmanuele, che, interpretato, vuol dire: “Iddio con noi”.
24E Giuseppe, destatosi dal sonno, fece come l’angelo del Signore gli avea comandato, e prese con sé sua moglie;
25e non la conobbe finch’ella non ebbe partorito un figlio; e gli pose nome Gesù.

17De manera que todas las generaciones desde Abraham hasta David son catorce generaciones: y desde David hasta la transmigración de Babilonia, catorce generaciones: y desde la transmigración de Babilonia hasta Cristo, catorce generaciones.
18Y el nacimiento de Jesucristo fué así: Que siendo María su madre desposada con José, antes que se juntasen, se halló haber concebido del Espíritu Santo.
19Y José su marido, como era justo, y no quisiese infamarla, quiso dejarla secretamente.
20Y pensando él en esto, he aquí el ángel del Señor le aparece en sueños, diciendo: José, hijo de David, no temas de recibir á María tu mujer, porque lo que en ella es engendrado, del Espíritu Santo es.
21Y parirá un hijo, y llamarás su nombre JESUS, porque él salvará á su pueblo de sus pecados.
22Todo esto aconteció para que se cumpliese lo que fué dicho por el Señor, por el profeta que dijo:
23He aquí la virgen concebirá y parirá un hijo, y llamarás su nombre Emmanuel, que declarado, es: Con nosotros Dios.
24Y despertando José del sueño, hizo como el ángel del Señor le había mandado, y recibió á su mujer.
25Y no la conoció hasta que parió á su hijo primogénito: y llamó su nombre JESUS.

18Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

2Abraham became the father of Isaac. Isaac became the father of Jacob. Jacob became the father of Judah and his brothers.
3Judah became the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar. Perez became the father of Hezron. Hezron became the father of Ram.
4Ram became the father of Amminadab. Amminadab became the father of Nahshon. Nahshon became the father of Salmon.
5Salmon became the father of Boaz by Rahab. Boaz became the father of Obed by Ruth. Obed became the father of Jesse.
6Jesse became the father of King David. David the king became the father of Solomon by her who had been Uriah’s wife.
7Solomon became the father of Rehoboam. Rehoboam became the father of Abijah. Abijah became the father of Asa.

18Now the birth of Jesus Christ was like this: After his mother, Mary, was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
19Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly.
20But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
21She shall give birth to a son. You shall name him Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.”
22Now all this has happened that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
23“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall give birth to a son. They shall call his name Immanuel,” which is, being interpreted, “God with us.”
24Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife to himself;
25and didn’t know her sexually until she had given birth to her firstborn son. He named him Jesus.
