PORQUE el reino de los cielos es semejante á un hombre, padre de familia, que salió por la mañana á ajustar obreros para su viña.
For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

Conviene con ellos en pagarles un denario al día, que es el salario normal, y los pone a trabajar.
Y habiéndose concertado con los obreros en un denario al día, los envió á su viña.

“Porque nadie nos ha contratado”, le responden. “Pues váyanse a trabajar a mi finca, y les pagaré lo que sea justo”.
Dícenle: Porque nadie nos ha ajustado. Díceles: Id también vosotros á la viña, y recibiréis lo que fuere justo.
They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

»Por la noche, el pagador fue llamando a cada uno de los obreros para pagarles, comenzando por los últimos que habían contratado.
Y cuando fué la tarde del día, el señor de la viña dijo á su mayordomo: Llama á los obreros y págales el jornal, comenzando desde los postreros hasta los primeros.
So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
“When evening had come, the lord of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning from the last to the first.’
A los que llegaron a las cinco les pagó un denario.
Y viniendo los que habían ido cerca de la hora undécima, recibieron cada uno un denario.
And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
“When those who were hired at about the eleventh hour came, they each received a denarius.
Los que habían llegado primero, al ver lo que recibieron los que llegaron de último, pensaron que a ellos se les pagaría mucho más. Pero se les pagó también un denario.

But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

»Claro, inmediatamente uno de ellos protestó ante el dueño:

“Esa gente trabajó sólo una hora y le están pagando lo mismo que a nosotros que trabajamos de sol a sol”.
Diciendo: Estos postreros sólo han trabajado una hora, y los has hecho iguales á nosotros, que hemos llevado la carga y el calor del día.
Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

»“Amigo”, le contestó el dueño, “¿no quedamos en que se te iba a pagar un denario al día?
Y él respondiendo, dijo á uno de ellos: Amigo, no te hago agravio; ¿no te concertaste conmigo por un denario?
But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
“But he answered one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Didn’t you agree with me for a denarius?
Pues tómalo y vete. Y porque quiero pagarle a todos los trabajadores lo mismo, ¡no me vengas ahora con que es injusto que yo haga con mi dinero lo que me plazca! Por tanto, no tienes razón para enojarte”.
Toma lo que es tuyo, y vete; mas quiero dar á este postrero, como á ti.
Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.
Take that which is yours, and go your way. It is my desire to give to this last just as much as to you.

¿No me es lícito á mí hacer lo que quiero con lo mío? ó ¿es malo tu ojo, porque yo soy bueno?
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
Isn’t it lawful for me to do what I want to with what I own? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?’
»Así, pues, los primeros serán los últimos y los últimos serán los primeros».
Así los primeros serán postreros, y los postreros primeros: porque muchos son llamados, mas pocos escogidos.
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

Camino de Jerusalén, Jesús tomó a los doce discípulos aparte
Y subiendo Jesús á Jerusalem, tomó sus doce discípulos aparte en el camino, y les dijo:
And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,
As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them,
y les habló de lo que le sucedería cuando llegaran a la capital. «Seré entregado a los principales sacerdotes y escribas, y me condenarán a muerte.
He aquí subimos á Jerusalem, y el Hijo del hombre será entregado á los príncipes de los sacerdotes y á los escribas, y le condenarán á muerte;
Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,
“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death,
Luego me entregarán a los romanos, para que se burlen de mí y me crucifiquen. Pero al tercer día resucitaré».
Y le entregarán á los Gentiles para que le escarnezcan, y azoten, y crucifiquen; mas al tercer día resucitará.
And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

En eso se le acercó la esposa de Zebedeo, junto con sus dos hijos, Jacobo y Juan, y se arrodilló ante él.
Entonces se llegó á él la madre de los hijos de Zebedeo con sus hijos, adorándole, y pidiéndole algo.
Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

―¿Qué quieres? —le preguntó Jesús. ―Quiero que cuando establezcas tu reino, mis dos hijos se sienten junto a ti en el trono, uno a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda.
Y él le dijo: ¿Qué quieres? Ella le dijo: Di que se sienten estos dos hijos míos, el uno á tu mano derecha, y el otro á tu izquierda, en tu reino.
And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
He said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Command that these, my two sons, may sit, one on your right hand and one on your left hand, in your Kingdom.”
Pero Jesús le dijo: ―¡No sabes lo que estás pidiendo! Y volviéndose a Jacobo y a Juan, les dijo: ―¿Se creen ustedes capaces de beber del terrible vaso del que yo tengo que beber? ¿Y de resistir el bautismo con que voy a ser bautizado? ―Sí —respondieron—. Podemos.
Entonces Jesús respondiendo, dijo: No sabéis lo que pedís: ¿podéis beber el vaso que yo he de beber, y ser bautizados del bautismo de que yo soy bautizado? Y ellos le dicen: Podemos.
But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
But Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to him, “We are able.”
―Pues a la verdad van a beber de mi vaso —les contestó Jesús— y van a bautizarse con mi bautismo, pero no tengo el derecho de decir quiénes se sentarán junto a mí. Mi Padre es el que lo determina.
Y él les dice: A la verdad mi vaso beberéis, y del bautismo de que yo soy bautizado, seréis bautizados; mas el sentaros á mi mano derecha y á mi izquierda, no es mío darlo, sino á aquellos para quienes está aparejado de mi Padre.
And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
He said to them, “You will indeed drink my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give, but it is for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”
Los otros diez discípulos se enojaron al enterarse de lo que Jacobo y Juan habían pedido,
Y como los diez oyeron esto, se enojaron de los dos hermanos.
And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.

pero Jesús los llamó y les dijo: ―En las naciones paganas, los reyes, los tiranos o cualquier funcionario está por encima de sus súbditos.
Entonces Jesús llamándolos, dijo: Sabéis que los príncipes de los Gentiles se enseñorean sobre ellos, y los que son grandes ejercen sobre ellos potestad.
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
But Jesus summoned them, and said, “You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.
Pero entre ustedes será completamente diferente. El que quiera ser grande debe servir a los demás;
Mas entre vosotros no será así; sino el que quisiere entre vosotros hacerse grande, será vuestro servidor;
But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
It shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.
y el que quiera ocupar el primer lugar en la lista de honor debe ser esclavo de los demás.
Y el que quisiere entre vosotros ser el primero, será vuestro siervo:
And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
Whoever desires to be first among you shall be your bondservant,
Recuerden que yo, el Hijo del hombre, no vine para que me sirvan, sino para servir y dar mi vida en rescate de muchos.
Como el Hijo del hombre no vino para ser servido, sino para servir, y para dar su vida en rescate por muchos.
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Al salir de Jericó, los seguía un inmenso gentío.
Entonces saliendo ellos de Jericó, le seguía gran compañía.
And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

Y dos ciegos que estaban sentados junto al camino, al escuchar que Jesús iba a pasar por allí, se pusieron a gritar: ―¡Señor, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de nosotros!

La gente los mandó callar, pero ellos gritaron todavía con más fuerza.
Y la gente les reñía para que callasen; mas ellos clamaban más, diciendo: Señor, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de nosotros.
And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
The multitude rebuked them, telling them that they should be quiet, but they cried out even more, “Lord, have mercy on us, you son of David!”
Cuando Jesús pasó junto a donde estaban, les preguntó: ―¿En qué puedo servirles?
Y parándose Jesús, los llamó, y dijo: ¿Qué queréis que haga por vosotros?
And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?

―Señor —le dijeron—, ¡queremos ver!

Jesús, compadecido, les tocó los ojos. Al instante pudieron ver; y siguieron a Jesús.

So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
