1Ya cerca de Jerusalén, en el pueblo de Betfagué, junto al monte de los Olivos, Jesús envió a dos de los discípulos al pueblo cercano.
2A la entrada del pueblo les dijo: «Hallarán una burra atada y junto a ella un burrito. Desátenlos y me los traen.
3Si alguien les pregunta algo, díganle que el Maestro los necesita y que luego se los devolverá».
4Así se cumplió la antigua profecía:
5«Díganle a Jerusalén: “Tu Rey vendrá a ti sentado humildemente sobre un burrito”».
6Los dos discípulos obedecieron,
7y poco después regresaron con los animales. Pusieron luego sus mantos encima del burrito para que Jesús se montara.
8Cuando Jesús pasaba, algunos de entre el gentío tendían sus mantos a lo largo del camino, otros cortaban ramas de los árboles y las tendían delante de él.
9Y delante y detrás del cortejo, el pueblo lo aclamaba: ―¡Viva el Hijo del rey David! ¡Alábenlo! ¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Gloria a Dios!
10Cuando entraron a Jerusalén, toda la ciudad se conmovió. ―¿Quién será este? —preguntaban.
11―Es Jesús, el profeta de Nazaret de Galilea.
12Jesús se dirigió al templo y echó fuera a los que allí vendían y compraban, y volcó las mesas de los que cambiaban dinero y las sillas de los que vendían palomas. Y dijo:
13―Las Escrituras afirman que el templo de Dios es casa de oración, pero ustedes lo han convertido en cueva de ladrones.
14Entonces se le acercaron los ciegos y los cojos y los sanó allí mismo en el templo.
15Los principales sacerdotes y los demás jefes judíos vieron aquellos sorprendentes milagros; y cuando escucharon a los niños que gritaban en el templo: «¡Viva el Hijo de David!», se perturbaron y se llenaron de indignación. Entonces le dijeron a Jesús:
16―¿No oyes lo que están diciendo esos niños? ―Sí —respondió Jesús—. ¿No dicen acaso las Escrituras que “aun los recién nacidos lo adoran”?
17Después de esto regresó a Betania, donde pasó la noche.
18Cuando regresaba a Jerusalén a la mañana siguiente, tuvo hambre.
19Se acercó a una higuera del camino con la esperanza de encontrar en ella higos, ¡pero sólo encontró hojas! ―¡Nunca jamás produzcas fruto! —le dijo. Y la higuera se secó.
20Al verlo, los discípulos se preguntaron llenos de asombro: ―¿Cómo es que la higuera se secó tan pronto?
21Y Jesús les respondió: ―Pues les repito que si tienen fe y no dudan, podrán hacer cosas como esta y muchas más. Hasta podrán decirle al Monte de los Olivos que se quite y se arroje al mar, y los obedecerá.
22Cualquier cosa que pidan en oración la recibirán, si de veras creen.
23Ya de regreso en el templo, y mientras enseñaba, los principales sacerdotes y otros jefes judíos se le acercaron a exigirle que les explicara por qué había echado del templo a los mercaderes y quién le había dado autoridad para hacerlo.
24―Lo explicaré si ustedes me contestan primero esta pregunta —les respondió Jesús—.
25¿Quién envió a Juan a bautizar? ¿Fue Dios o no? Como era una pregunta difícil de contestar, se pusieron a discutirla entre ellos en voz baja: ―Si decimos que Dios lo envió, nos preguntará por qué no creímos en él.
26Y si decimos que no fue Dios el que lo envió, el pueblo se enojará, porque casi todo el mundo cree que Juan era profeta.
27Por fin le respondieron: ―La verdad es que no sabemos. Y Jesús les dijo: ―Pues yo tampoco les voy a decir quién me dio autoridad para hacer estas cosas.
28»Pero, ¿qué les parece? Un padre que tenía dos hijos le dijo al mayor: “Hijo, ve a trabajar hoy a la finca”.
29Y el hijo le respondió: “Lo siento; no tengo deseos de trabajar hoy en la finca”. Pero luego, arrepentido, fue.
30Cuando el padre le pidió al menor que fuera, este le respondió: “¡Con mucho gusto! ¡Ahora mismo voy!”. Pero no fue. Díganme:
31¿Cuál de los dos obedeció a su padre? ―El primero, por supuesto —le respondieron los principales sacerdotes y los jefes judíos. ―Pues los despreciados cobradores de impuestos y las prostitutas llegarán al reino de Dios antes que ustedes,
32puesto que Juan el Bautista les dijo que se arrepintieran y se volvieran a Dios, y ustedes no le hicieron caso. Los cobradores de impuestos y las prostitutas, en cambio, sí que creyeron el mensaje de Juan. Y aun viendo que esto sucedía así, ustedes se negaron a arrepentirse y a creer en él.
33Entonces les contó la siguiente parábola: «Cierto hombre plantó una viña, la cercó, construyó una torre de vigilancia, y la arrendó a varios labradores. Según el contrato, estos habrían de compartir con el dueño el producto de la viña. El dueño se fue a otra región.
34Cuando se acercó el tiempo de la cosecha, envió a empleados suyos a recoger lo que le correspondía.
35Pero los labradores los atacaron: a uno lo golpearon, a otro lo mataron y a otro lo apedrearon.
36Entonces el dueño envió un grupo mayor de hombres a cobrar, pero estos corrieron la misma suerte.
37Por último, envió a su hijo con la esperanza de que lo respetarían por ser quien era.
38Pero cuando los labradores vieron que se acercaba, se dijeron: “Este no es nada menos que el heredero. Matémoslo y así nos quedaremos con la herencia”.
39Y, en efecto, lo sacaron de la viña y lo mataron.
40»¿Qué creen ustedes que hará el dueño cuando regrese?».
41Los dirigentes judíos respondieron: ―Pues matará sin misericordia a esos malvados y arrendará la viña a otros labradores que le paguen lo convenido.
42Entonces Jesús les preguntó: ―¿Han leído alguna vez en las Escrituras aquello que dice: “La piedra que rechazaron los constructores ha sido puesta como piedra principal. ¡Qué interesante! El Señor lo hizo y es maravilloso”?
43Con esto quiero decirles que a ustedes Dios les va a quitar el reino de los cielos, y se lo dará a gentes que den los frutos que él espera.
44El que tropiece con la Roca de la verdad se hará pedazos; y al que la piedra le caiga encima quedará pulverizado.
45Al darse cuenta los principales sacerdotes y los demás jefes judíos que Jesús se refería a ellos, que ellos eran los labradores de la parábola,
46sintieron deseos de apresarlo, pero no se atrevieron porque el pueblo tenía a Jesús por profeta.

1Y COMO se acercaron á Jerusalem, y vinieron á Bethfagé, al monte de las Olivas, entonces Jesús envió dos discípulos,
2Diciéndoles: Id á la aldea que está delante de vosotros, y luego hallaréis una asna atada, y un pollino con ella: desatadla, y traédmelos.
3Y si alguno os dijere algo, decid: El Señor los ha menester. Y luego los dejará.
4Y todo esto fué hecho, para que se cumpliese lo que fué dicho por el profeta, que dijo:
5Decid á la hija de Sión: He aquí, tu Rey viene á ti, manso, y sentado sobre una asna, y sobre un pollino, hijo de animal de yugo.
6Y los discípulos fueron, é hicieron como Jesús les mandó;
7Y trajeron el asna y el pollino, y pusieron sobre ellos sus mantos; y se sentó sobre ellos.
8Y la compañía, que era muy numerosa, tendía sus mantos en el camino: y otros cortaban ramos de los árboles, y los tendían por el camino.
9Y las gentes que iban delante, y las que iban detrás, aclamaban diciendo: ¡Hosanna al Hijo de David! ¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!
10Y entrando él en Jerusalem, toda la ciudad se alborotó, diciendo: ¿Quién es éste?
11Y las gentes decían: Este es Jesús, el profeta, de Nazaret de Galilea.
12Y entró Jesús en el templo de Dios, y echó fuera todos los que vendían y compraban en el templo, y trastornó las mesas de los cambiadores, y las sillas de los que vendían palomas;
13Y les dice: Escrito está: Mi casa, casa de oración será llamada; mas vosotros cueva de ladrones la habéis hecho.
14Entonces vinieron á él ciegos y cojos en el templo, y los sanó.
15Mas los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas, viendo las maravillas que hacía, y á los muchachos aclamando en el templo y diciendo: ¡Hosanna al Hijo de David! se indignaron,
16Y le dijeron: ¿Oyes lo que éstos dicen? Y Jesús les dice: Sí: ¿nunca leísteis: De la boca de los niños y de los que maman perfeccionaste la alabanza?
17Y dejándolos, se salió fuera de la ciudad, á Bethania; y posó allí.
18Y por la mañana volviendo á la ciudad, tuvo hambre.
19Y viendo una higuera cerca del camino, vino á ella, y no halló nada en ella, sino hojas solamente; y le dijo: Nunca más para siempre nazca de ti fruto. Y luego se secó la higuera.
20Y viendo esto los discípulos, maravillados decían: ¿Cómo se secó luego la higuera?
21Y respondiendo Jesús les dijo: De cierto os digo, que si tuviereis fe, y no dudareis, no sólo haréis esto de la higuera: mas si á este monte dijereis: Quítate y échate en la mar, será hecho.
22Y todo lo que pidiereis en oración, creyendo, lo recibiréis.
23Y como vino al templo, llegáronse á él cuando estaba enseñando, los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos del pueblo, diciendo: ¿Con qué autoridad haces esto? ¿y quién te dió esta autoridad?
24Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Yo también os preguntaré una palabra, la cual si me dijereis, también yo os diré con qué autoridad hago esto.
25El bautismo de Juan, ¿de dónde era? ¿del cielo, ó de los hombres? Ellos entonces pensaron entre sí, diciendo: Si dijéremos, del cielo, nos dirá: ¿Por qué pues no le creísteis?
26Y si dijéremos, de los hombres, tememos al pueblo; porque todos tienen á Juan por profeta.
27Y respondiendo á Jesús, dijeron: No sabemos. Y él también les dijo: Ni yo os digo con qué autoridad hago esto.
28Mas, ¿qué os parece? Un hombre tenía dos hijos, y llegando al primero, le dijo: Hijo, ve hoy á trabajar en mi viña.
29Y respondiendo él, dijo: No quiero; mas después, arrepentido, fué.
30Y llegando al otro, le dijo de la misma manera; y respondiendo él, dijo: Yo, señor, voy. Y no fué.
31¿Cuál de los dos hizo la voluntad de su padre? Dicen ellos: El primero. Díceles Jesús: De cierto os digo, que los publicanos y las rameras os van delante al reino de Dios.
32Porque vino á vosotros Juan en camino de justicia, y no le creísteis; y los publicanos y las rameras le creyeron; y vosotros, viendo esto, no os arrepentisteis después para creerle.
33Oid otra parábola: Fué un hombre, padre de familia, el cual plantó una viña; y la cercó de vallado, y cavó en ella un lagar, y edificó una torre, y la dió á renta á labradores, y se partió lejos.
34Y cuando se acercó el tiempo de los frutos, envió sus siervos á los labradores, para que recibiesen sus frutos.
35Mas los labradores, tomando á los siervos, al uno hirieron, y al otro mataron, y al otro apedrearon.
36Envió de nuevo otros siervos, más que los primeros; é hicieron con ellos de la misma manera.
37Y á la postre les envió su hijo, diciendo: Tendrán respeto á mi hijo.
38Mas los labradores, viendo al hijo, dijeron entre sí: Este es el heredero; venid, matémosle, y tomemos su heredad.
39Y tomado, le echaron fuera de la viña, y le mataron.
40Pues cuando viniere el señor de la viña, ¿qué hará á aquellos labradores?
41Dícenle: á los malos destruirá miserablemente, y su viña dará á renta á otros labradores, que le paguen el fruto á sus tiempos.
42Díceles Jesús: ¿Nunca leísteis en las Escrituras: La piedra que desecharon los que edificaban, ésta fué hecha por cabeza de esquina: por el Señor es hecho esto, y es cosa maravillosa en nuestros ojos?
43Por tanto os digo, que el reino de Dios será quitado de vosotros, y será dado á gente que haga los frutos de él.
44Y el que cayere sobre esta piedra, será quebrantado; y sobre quien ella cayere, le desmenuzará.
45Y oyendo los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los Fariseos sus parábolas, entendieron que hablaba de ellos.
46Y buscando cómo echarle mano, temieron al pueblo; porque le tenían por profeta.

1And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
2Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
3And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
4All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
6And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
7And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
8And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
9And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
10And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
11And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
12And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
13And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
14And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
15And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
16And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
17And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.
18Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
19And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
20And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
21Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
23And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?
24And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
25The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
26But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.
27And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
28But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
29He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
30And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
31Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
32For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
33Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
34And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
35And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
36Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
37But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
39And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
40When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
41They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
42Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
43Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
44And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
45And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
46But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

1When they came near to Jerusalem and came to Bethsphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2saying to them, “Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.
3If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
4All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,
5“Tell the daughter of Zion, behold, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
6The disciples went and did just as Jesus commanded them,
7and brought the donkey and the colt and laid their clothes on them; and he sat on them.
8A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
9The multitudes who went in front of him, and those who followed, kept shouting, “Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
10When he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
11The multitudes said, “This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”
12Jesus entered into the temple of God and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables and the seats of those who sold the doves.
13He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers!”
14The lame and the blind came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
15But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the son of David!” they were indignant,
16and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Did you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of children and nursing babies, you have perfected praise’?”
17He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and camped there.
18Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.
19Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, “Let there be no fruit from you forever!” Immediately the fig tree withered away.
20When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree immediately wither away?”
21Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it would be done.
22All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
23When he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority do you do these things? Who gave you this authority?”
24Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, which if you tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
25The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?” They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
26But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.”
27They answered Jesus, and said, “We don’t know.” He also said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
28But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’
29He answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind, and went.
30He came to the second, and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I’m going, sir,’ but he didn’t go.
31Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into God’s Kingdom before you.
32For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn’t believe him; but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn’t even repent afterward, that you might believe him.
33“Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a wine press in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country.
34When the season for the fruit came near, he sent his servants to the farmers to receive his fruit.
35The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
36Again, he sent other servants more than the first; and they treated them the same way.
37But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’
38But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and seize his inheritance.’
39So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard, then killed him.
40When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?”
41They told him, “He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers who will give him the fruit in its season.”
42Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes’?
43“Therefore I tell you, God’s Kingdom will be taken away from you and will be given to a nation producing its fruit.
44He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust.”
45When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke about them.
46When they sought to seize him, they feared the multitudes, because they considered him to be a prophet.
