Pues bien, hubo una vez una familia de siete hermanos. El primero de estos se casó y murió sin tener hijos, por lo cual la viuda se casó con el segundo hermano. Aquel hermano también murió sin tener hijos, y la esposa se casó con el siguiente hermano. El caso se fue repitiendo de manera tal que aquella señora fue esposa de los siete hermanos.
Fueron pues, entre nosotros siete hermanos: y el primero tomó mujer, y murió; y no teniendo generación, dejó su mujer á su hermano.
Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother.
