1Jesus respondeu e lhes falou novamente por parábolas, dizendo:
2“O Reino dos Céus é semelhante a um rei que preparou um banquete de casamento para seu filho,
3e enviou seus servos para chamar os convidados para o banquete de casamento, mas eles não quiseram vir.
4Novamente enviou outros servos, dizendo: ‘Digam aos convidados: “Vejam, preparei o meu banquete. Meus bois e novilhos gordos foram abatidos, e tudo está pronto. Venham para o banquete de casamento!”’
5Mas eles não deram atenção e seguiram seus caminhos, um para a sua fazenda, outro para os seus negócios;
6e os restantes agarraram os servos dele, os maltrataram e os mataram.
7Quando o rei ouviu isso, ficou irado e, enviando os seus exércitos, destruiu aqueles assassinos e incendiou a cidade deles.
8“Então disse aos seus servos: ‘O banquete de casamento está pronto, mas os convidados não eram dignos.
9Vão, portanto, aos cruzamentos das estradas e convidem para o banquete de casamento todos os que vocês encontrarem.’
10Aqueles servos saíram pelas estradas e reuniram todos os que encontraram, tanto maus quanto bons. E o salão de casamento ficou cheio de convidados.
11“Mas, quando o rei entrou para ver os convidados, viu ali um homem que não vestia trajes de casamento,
12e lhe perguntou: ‘Amigo, como você entrou aqui sem trajes de casamento?’ E ele emudeceu.
13Então o rei disse aos servos: ‘Amarrem-lhe os pés e as mãos, levem-no e lancem-no nas trevas exteriores. Ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes.’
14Pois muitos são chamados, mas poucos escolhidos.”
15Então os fariseus saíram e planejaram como poderiam apanhá-lo em suas palavras.
16Enviaram-lhe seus discípulos, junto com os herodianos, dizendo: “Mestre, sabemos que você é verdadeiro e ensina o caminho de Deus com verdade, sem se importar com quem quer que seja; pois você não faz acepção de pessoas.
17Diga-nos, portanto, o que você acha? É lícito pagar impostos a César, ou não?”
18Mas Jesus, percebendo a maldade deles, disse: “Por que vocês me provam, hipócritas?
19Mostrem-me a moeda do imposto.” E eles lhe trouxeram um denário.
20Ele lhes perguntou: “De quem é esta imagem e inscrição?”
21Eles lhe responderam: “De César.” Então ele lhes disse: “Deem, portanto, a César o que é de César, e a Deus o que é de Deus.”
22Ao ouvirem isso, ficaram maravilhados e, deixando-o, foram embora.
23Naquele dia, os saduceus (que dizem não haver ressurreição) aproximaram-se dele. Eles lhe perguntaram,
24dizendo: “Mestre, Moisés disse: ‘Se um homem morrer, não tendo filhos, seu irmão se casará com a mulher dele e suscitará descendência para seu irmão.’
25Ora, havia entre nós sete irmãos. O primeiro casou-se e morreu e, não tendo descendência, deixou sua mulher para seu irmão.
26Da mesma forma, o segundo também, e o terceiro, até o sétimo.
27Depois de todos eles, a mulher morreu.
28Na ressurreição, portanto, de qual dos sete ela será esposa? Pois todos a tiveram.”
29Mas Jesus lhes respondeu: “Vocês estão enganados, não conhecendo as Escrituras, nem o poder de Deus.
30Pois na ressurreição eles não se casam nem são dados em casamento, mas são como os anjos de Deus no céu.
31Mas, quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, vocês não leram o que lhes foi falado por Deus, que disse:
32‘Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque e o Deus de Jacó’? Deus não é Deus de mortos, mas de vivos.”
33Quando as multidões ouviram isso, ficaram maravilhadas com o seu ensino.
34Mas os fariseus, quando ouviram que ele havia silenciado os saduceus, reuniram-se.
35Um deles, perito na lei, fez-lhe uma pergunta, para testá-lo:
36“Mestre, qual é o maior mandamento da lei?”
37Jesus lhe disse: “‘Ame ao Senhor, seu Deus, de todo o seu coração, de toda a sua alma e de todo o seu entendimento.’
38Este é o primeiro e grande mandamento.
39E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: ‘Ame ao seu próximo como a si mesmo.’
40Destes dois mandamentos dependem toda a lei e os profetas.”
41Ora, enquanto os fariseus estavam reunidos, Jesus lhes fez uma pergunta,
42dizendo: “O que vocês pensam do Cristo? De quem ele é filho?” Eles lhe responderam: “De Davi.”
43Ele lhes disse: “Como então Davi, no Espírito, o chama de Senhor, dizendo:
44‘O Senhor disse ao meu Senhor: assente-se à minha direita, até que eu faça dos seus inimigos um estrado para os seus pés’?
45“Se Davi, então, o chama de Senhor, como ele é seu filho?”
46Ninguém foi capaz de lhe responder uma só palavra, nem ousou alguém, daquele dia em diante, fazer-lhe mais perguntas.

1Y RESPONDIENDO Jesús, les volvió á hablar en parábolas, diciendo:
2El reino de los cielos es semejante á un hombre rey, que hizo bodas á su hijo;
3Y envió sus siervos para que llamasen los llamados á las bodas; mas no quisieron venir.
4Volvió á enviar otros siervos, diciendo: Decid á los llamados: He aquí, mi comida he aparejado; mis toros y animales engordados son muertos, y todo está prevenido: venid á las bodas.
5Mas ellos no se cuidaron, y se fueron, uno á su labranza, y otro á sus negocios;
6Y otros, tomando á sus siervos, los afrentaron y los mataron.
7Y el rey, oyendo esto, se enojó; y enviando sus ejércitos, destruyó á aquellos homicidas, y puso fuego á su ciudad.
8Entonces dice á sus siervos: Las bodas á la verdad están aparejadas; mas los que eran llamados no eran dignos.
9Id pues á las salidas de los caminos, y llamad á las bodas á cuantos hallareis.
10Y saliendo los siervos por los caminos, juntaron á todos los que hallaron, juntamente malos y buenos: y las bodas fueron llenas de convidados.
11Y entró el rey para ver los convidados, y vió allí un hombre no vestido de boda.
12Y le dijo: Amigo, ¿cómo entraste aquí no teniendo vestido de boda? Mas él cerró la boca.
13Entonces el rey dijo á los que servían: Atado de pies y de manos tomadle, y echadle en las tinieblas de afuera: allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
14Porque muchos son llamados, y pocos escogidos.
15Entonces, idos los Fariseos, consultaron cómo le tomarían en alguna palabra.
16Y envían á él los discípulos de ellos, con los Herodianos, diciendo: Maestro, sabemos que eres amador de la verdad, y que enseñas con verdad el camino de Dios, y que no te curas de nadie, porque no tienes acepción de persona de hombres.
17Dinos pues, ¿qué te parece? ¿es lícito dar tributo á César, ó no?
18Mas Jesús, entendida la malicia de ellos, les dice: ¿Por qué me tentáis, hipócritas?
19Mostradme la moneda del tributo. Y ellos le presentaron un denario.
20Entonces les dice: ¿Cúya es esta figura, y lo que está encima escrito?
21Dícenle: De César. Y díceles: Pagad pues á César lo que es de César, y á Dios lo que es de Dios.
22Y oyendo esto, se maravillaron; y dejándole se fueron.
23Aquel día llegaron á él los Saduceos, que dicen no haber resurrección, y le preguntaron,
24Diciendo: Maestro, Moisés dijo: Si alguno muriere sin hijos, su hermano se casará con su mujer, y despertará simiente á su hermano.
25Fueron pues, entre nosotros siete hermanos: y el primero tomó mujer, y murió; y no teniendo generación, dejó su mujer á su hermano.
26De la misma manera también el segundo, y el tercero, hasta los siete.
27Y después de todos murió también la mujer.
28En la resurrección pues, ¿de cuál de los siete será ella mujer? porque todos la tuvieron.
29Entonces respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Erráis ignorando las Escrituras, y el poder de Dios.
30Porque en la resurrección, ni los hombres tomarán mujeres, ni las mujeres maridos; mas son como los ángeles de Dios en el cielo.
31Y de la resurrección de los muertos, ¿no habéis leído lo que os es dicho por Dios, que dice:
32Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob? Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos.
33Y oyendo esto las gentes, estaban atónitas de su doctrina.
34Entonces los Fariseos, oyendo que había cerrado la boca á los Saduceos, se juntaron á una.
35Y preguntó uno de ellos, intérprete de la ley, tentándole y diciendo:
36Maestro, ¿cuál es el mandamiento grande en la ley?
37Y Jesús le dijo: Amarás al Señor tu Dios de todo tu corazón, y de toda tu alma, y de toda tu mente.
38Este es el primero y el grande mandamiento.
39Y el segundo es semejante á éste: Amarás á tu prójimo como á ti mismo.
40De estos dos mandamientos depende toda la ley y los profetas.
41Y estando juntos los Fariseos, Jesús les preguntó,
42Diciendo: ¿Qué os parece del Cristo? ¿de quién es Hijo? Dícenle: De David.
43El les dice: ¿Pues cómo David en Espíritu le llama Señor, diciendo:
44Dijo el Señor á mi Señor: Siéntate á mi diestra, entre tanto que pongo tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies?
45Pues si David le llama Señor, ¿cómo es su Hijo?
46Y nadie le podía responder palabra; ni osó alguno desde aquel día preguntarle más.

1And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
2The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
7But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
9Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
10So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14For many are called, but few are chosen.
15Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.
16And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
17Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
18But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
19Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
20And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21They say unto him, Cæsar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which are Cæsar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.
22When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
23The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27And last of all the woman died also.
28Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
29Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
32I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
33And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.
34But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
35Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38This is the first and great commandment.
39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
41While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.
43He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
46And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

2“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding feast for his son,
3and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.
4Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding feast!”’
5But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;
6and the rest grabbed his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.
7When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
8“Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.
9Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the wedding feast.’
10Those servants went out into the highways and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.
11“But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,
12and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.
13Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness. That is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’
14For many are called, but few chosen.”
15Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
16They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach; for you aren’t partial to anyone.
17Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
18But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
19Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.
20He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”
21They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
22When they heard it, they marveled, and left him and went away.
23On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,
24saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.’
25Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother.
26In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.
27After them all, the woman died.
28In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”
29But Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
30For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.
31But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
32‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

34But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.
35One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.
36“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”
37Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
38This is the first and great commandment.
39A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
40The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
41Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,
42saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”
43He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
44‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’?
45“If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”
46No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forward.
