1“Entonces el Reino de los Cielos será como diez vírgenes que, tomando sus lámparas, salieron a recibir al novio.
2Cinco de ellas eran descuidadas y cinco previsoras.
3Las descuidadas, al tomar sus lámparas, no llevaron aceite extra,
4pero las previsoras llevaron aceite en unos frascos, junto con sus lámparas.
5Como el novio se demoraba, a todas les dio sueño y se durmieron.
6Pero a medianoche se oyó un grito: “¡Miren! ¡Ahí viene el novio! Salgan a recibirlo”.
7Entonces todas aquellas vírgenes se levantaron y prepararon sus lámparas.
8Las descuidadas les dijeron a las previsoras: “Dénnos un poco de su aceite, porque nuestras lámparas se están apagando”.
9Pero las previsoras les contestaron: “¿Y si no alcanza para nosotras y para ustedes? Vayan más bien a donde venden y compren para ustedes”.
10Mientras ellas iban a comprar, llegó el novio; las que estaban preparadas entraron con él al banquete de bodas, y se cerró la puerta.
11Después llegaron también las otras vírgenes, diciendo: “¡Señor, Señor, ábrenos!”.
12Pero él les respondió: “Les aseguro que no las conozco”.
13Manténganse despiertos, pues, porque no saben el día ni la hora en que vendrá el Hijo del Hombre.
14“El Reino de los Cielos es como un hombre que, al irse de viaje a otro país, llamó a sus sirvientes y les confió sus bienes.
15A uno le dio cinco talentos, a otro dos, y a otro uno; a cada uno según su capacidad. Luego emprendió su viaje.
16Enseguida, el que había recibido los cinco talentos se fue a hacer negocios con ellos y ganó otros cinco.
17De la misma manera, el que había recibido dos ganó otros dos.
18Pero el que había recibido uno solo se fue, cavó un hoyo en la tierra y escondió el dinero de su patrón.
19“Después de mucho tiempo, el patrón regresó y se puso a arreglar cuentas con ellos.
20El que había recibido los cinco talentos se acercó y le entregó otros cinco talentos, diciendo: ‘Señor, usted me entregó cinco talentos. Mire, aquí tiene otros cinco que he ganado’.
21“Su patrón le dijo: ‘¡Bien hecho, sirviente bueno y fiel! Has sido fiel en lo poco, yo te pondré a cargo de mucho más. Entra a compartir la alegría de tu señor’.
22“Luego se acercó el que había recibido los dos talentos y le dijo: ‘Señor, usted me entregó dos talentos. Mire, aquí tiene otros dos que he ganado’.
23“Su patrón le contestó: ‘¡Bien hecho, sirviente bueno y fiel! Has sido fiel en lo poco, yo te pondré a cargo de mucho más. Entra a compartir la alegría de tu señor’.
24“Por último, se acercó el que había recibido un solo talento y le dijo: ‘Señor, yo sabía que usted es un hombre duro, que cosecha donde no sembró y recoge donde no esparció.
25Por eso me dio miedo, y fui y escondí su talento en la tierra. Mire, aquí tiene lo que es suyo’.
26“Pero su patrón le contestó: ‘¡Sirviente malo y perezoso! ¿Así que sabías que cosecho donde no sembré, y recojo donde no esparcí?
27Pues debiste haber llevado mi dinero a los banqueros, para que, al regresar, yo hubiera recibido lo mío con intereses.
28Quítenle ese talento y dénselo al que tiene los diez.
29Porque a todo el que tiene, se le dará más y tendrá en abundancia; pero al que no tiene, hasta lo poco que tiene se le quitará.
30Y a este sirviente inútil, échenlo a la oscuridad de afuera, donde habrá llanto y rechinar de dientes’.
31“Cuando el Hijo del Hombre venga en su gloria, acompañado de todos los ángeles, se sentará en su trono glorioso.
32Todas las naciones se reunirán delante de él, y él separará a unos de otros, así como el pastor separa a las ovejas de los cabritos.
33Pondrá a las ovejas a su derecha y a los cabritos a su izquierda.
34Entonces el Rey les dirá a los de su derecha: “Vengan ustedes, los que han sido bendecidos por mi Padre; reciban como herencia el Reino que ha sido preparado para ustedes desde la creación del mundo.
35Porque tuve hambre y ustedes me dieron de comer; tuve sed y me dieron de beber; fui extranjero y me alojaron;
36estuve desnudo y me vistieron; estuve enfermo y me visitaron; estuve en la cárcel y vinieron a verme”.
37“Entonces los justos le preguntarán: “Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos con hambre y te dimos de comer, o con sed y te dimos de beber?
38¿Cuándo te vimos como extranjero y te alojamos, o desnudo y te vestimos?
39¿O cuándo te vimos enfermo o en la cárcel y fuimos a verte?”.
40“El Rey les responderá: ‘Les aseguro que todo lo que hicieron por uno de estos mis hermanos más pequeños, por mí lo hicieron’.
41“Luego les dirá a los de su izquierda: ‘Apártense de mí, malditos, vayan al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y sus ángeles.
42Porque tuve hambre y no me dieron de comer; tuve sed y no me dieron de beber;
43fui extranjero y no me alojaron; estuve desnudo y no me vistieron; estuve enfermo y en la cárcel, y no me visitaron’.
44“Entonces ellos también le contestarán: ‘Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos con hambre, o con sed, o como extranjero, o desnudo, o enfermo, o en la cárcel, y no te ayudamos?’.
45“Él les responderá: ‘Les aseguro que todo lo que no hicieron por el más pequeño de estos, tampoco lo hicieron por mí’.
46Y estos irán al castigo eterno, pero los justos irán a la vida eterna”.

1ENTONCES el reino de los cielos será semejante á diez vírgenes, que tomando sus lámparas, salieron á recibir al esposo.
2Y las cinco de ellas eran prudentes, y las cinco fatuas.
3Las que eran fatuas, tomando sus lámparas, no tomaron consigo aceite;
4Mas las prudentes tomaron aceite en sus vasos, juntamente con sus lámparas.
5Y tardándose el esposo, cabecearon todas, y se durmieron.
6Y á la media noche fué oído un clamor: He aquí, el esposo viene; salid á recibirle.
7Entonces todas aquellas vírgenes se levantaron, y aderezaron sus lámparas.
8Y las fatuas dijeron á las prudentes: Dadnos de vuestro aceite; porque nuestras lámparas se apagan.
9Mas las prudentes respondieron, diciendo: Porque no nos falte á nosotras y á vosotras, id antes á los que venden, y comprad para vosotras.
10Y mientras que ellas iban á comprar, vino el esposo; y las que estaban apercibidas, entraron con él á las bodas; y se cerró la puerta.
11Y después vinieron también las otras vírgenes, diciendo: Señor, Señor, ábrenos.
12Mas respondiendo él, dijo: De cierto os digo, que no os conozco.
13Velad, pues, porque no sabéis el día ni la hora en que el Hijo del hombre ha de venir.
14Porque el reino de los cielos es como un hombre que partiéndose lejos llamó á sus siervos, y les entregó sus bienes.
15Y á éste dió cinco talentos, y al otro dos, y al otro uno: á cada uno conforme á su facultad; y luego se partió lejos.
16Y el que había recibido cinco talentos se fué, y granjeó con ellos, é hizo otros cinco talentos.
17Asimismo el que había recibido dos, ganó también él otros dos.
18Mas el que había recibido uno, fué y cavó en la tierra, y escondió el dinero de su señor.
19Y después de mucho tiempo, vino el señor de aquellos siervos, é hizo cuentas con ellos.
20Y llegando el que había recibido cinco talentos, trajo otros cinco talentos, diciendo: Señor, cinco talentos me entregaste; he aquí otros cinco talentos he ganado sobre ellos.
21Y su señor le dijo: Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré: entra en el gozo de tu señor.
22Y llegando también el que había recibido dos talentos, dijo: Señor, dos talentos me entregaste; he aquí otros dos talentos he ganado sobre ellos.
23Su señor le dijo: Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré: entra en el gozo de tu señor.
24Y llegando también el que había recibido un talento, dijo: Señor, te conocía que eres hombre duro, que siegas donde no sembraste, y recoges donde no esparciste;
25Y tuve miedo, y fuí, y escondí tu talento en la tierra: he aquí tienes lo que es tuyo.
26Y respondiendo su señor, le dijo: Malo y negligente siervo, sabías que siego donde no sembré y que recojo donde no esparcí;
27Por tanto te convenía dar mi dinero á los banqueros, y viniendo yo, hubiera recibido lo que es mío con usura.
28Quitadle pues el talento, y dadlo al que tiene diez talentos.
29Porque á cualquiera que tuviere, le será dado, y tendrá más; y al que no tuviere, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.
30Y al siervo inútil echadle en las tinieblas de afuera: allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
31Y cuando el Hijo del hombre venga en su gloria, y todos los santos ángeles con él, entonces se sentará sobre el trono de su gloria.
32Y serán reunidas delante de él todas las gentes: y los apartará los unos de los otros, como aparta el pastor las ovejas de los cabritos.
33Y pondrá las ovejas á su derecha, y los cabritos á la izquierda.
34Entonces el Rey dirá á los que estarán á su derecha: Venid, benditos de mi Padre, heredad el reino preparado para vosotros desde la fundación del mundo:
35Porque tuve hambre, y me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y me disteis de beber; fuí huésped, y me recogisteis;
36Desnudo, y me cubristeis; enfermo, y me visitasteis; estuve en la cárcel, y vinisteis á mí.
37Entonces los justos le responderán, diciendo: Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, y te sustentamos? ¿ó sediento, y te dimos de beber?
38¿Y cuándo te vimos huésped, y te recogimos? ¿ó desnudo, y te cubrimos?
39¿O cuándo te vimos enfermo, ó en la cárcel, y vinimos á ti?
40Y respondiendo el Rey, les dirá: De cierto os digo que en cuanto lo hicisteis á uno de estos mis hermanos pequeñitos, á mí lo hicisteis.
41Entonces dirá también á los que estarán á la izquierda: Apartaos de mí, malditos, al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y para sus ángeles:
42Porque tuve hambre, y no me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y no me disteis de beber;
43Fuí huésped, y no me recogisteis; desnudo, y no me cubristeis; enfermo, y en la cárcel, y no me visitasteis.
44Entonces también ellos le responderán, diciendo: Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, ó sediento, ó huésped, ó desnudo, ó enfermo, ó en la cárcel, y no te servimos?
45Entonces les responderá, diciendo: De cierto os digo que en cuanto no lo hicisteis á uno de estos pequeñitos, ni á mí lo hicisteis.
46E irán éstos al tormento eterno, y los justos á la vida eterna.

1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

1“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
3Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
4but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
9But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
10While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
11Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
12But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
14“For it is like a man going into another country, who called his own servants and entrusted his goods to them.
15To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.
16Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17In the same way, he also who got the two gained another two.
18But he who received the one talent went away and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money.
19“Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and settled accounts with them.
20He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents in addition to them.’
21“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
22“He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents in addition to them.’
23“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things. I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24“He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you didn’t sow, and gathering where you didn’t scatter.
25I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’
26“But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.
27You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.
28Take away therefore the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.
29For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away.
30Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
31“But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory.
32Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34Then the King will tell those on his right hand, ‘Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
35for I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in.
36I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me.’
37“Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?
38When did we see you as a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe you?
39When did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?’
40“The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
41Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;
42for I was hungry, and you didn’t give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;

46These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
