1Alors le royaume des cieux sera fait semblable à dix vierges qui, ayant pris leurs lampes, sortirent à la rencontre de l’époux.
2Et cinq d’entre elles étaient prudentes, et cinq folles.
3Celles qui étaient folles, en prenant leurs lampes, ne prirent pas d’huile avec elles ;
4mais les prudentes prirent de l’huile dans leurs vaisseaux avec leurs lampes.
5Or, comme l’époux tardait, elles s’assoupirent toutes et s’endormirent.
6Mais au milieu de la nuit il se fit un cri : Voici l’époux ; sortez à sa rencontre.
7Alors toutes ces vierges se levèrent et apprêtèrent leurs lampes.
8Et les folles dirent aux prudentes : Donnez-nous de votre huile, car nos lampes s’éteignent.
9Mais les prudentes répondirent, disant : [Non], de peur qu’il n’y en ait pas assez pour nous et pour vous ; allez plutôt vers ceux qui en vendent, et achetez-en pour vous-mêmes.
10Or, comme elles s’en allaient pour en acheter, l’époux vint ; et celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui aux noces ; et la porte fut fermée.
11Ensuite viennent aussi les autres vierges, disant : Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous !
12Mais lui, répondant, dit : En vérité, je vous dis : je ne vous connais pas.
13Veillez donc ; car vous ne savez ni le jour ni l’heure.
14Car c’est comme un homme qui, s’en allant hors du pays, appela ses propres esclaves et leur remit ses biens.
15Et à l’un, il donna cinq talents ; à un autre, deux ; à un autre, un ; à chacun selon sa propre capacité ; et aussitôt il s’en alla hors du pays.
16Or celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents s’en alla et les fit valoir, et acquit cinq autres talents.
17De même aussi, celui qui avait reçu les deux, en gagna, lui aussi, deux autres.
18Mais celui qui en avait reçu un, s’en alla et creusa dans la terre, et cacha l’argent de son maître.
19Et longtemps après, le maître de ces esclaves vient et règle compte avec eux.
20Et celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents vint et apporta cinq autres talents, disant : Maître, tu m’as remis cinq talents ; voici, j’ai gagné cinq autres talents par-dessus.
21Son maître lui dit : Bien, bon et fidèle esclave ; tu as été fidèle en peu de chose, je t’établirai sur beaucoup : entre dans la joie de ton maître.
22Et celui qui avait reçu les deux talents vint aussi et dit : Maître, tu m’as remis deux talents ; voici, j’ai gagné deux autres talents par-dessus.
23Son maître lui dit : Bien, bon et fidèle esclave ; tu as été fidèle en peu de chose, je t’établirai sur beaucoup : entre dans la joie de ton maître.
24Et celui qui avait reçu un talent vint aussi et dit : Maître, je te connaissais, que tu es un homme dur, moissonnant où tu n’as pas semé et recueillant où tu n’as pas répandu ;
25et, craignant, je m’en suis allé et j’ai caché ton talent dans la terre ; voici, tu as ce qui est à toi.
26Et son maître, répondant, lui dit : Méchant et paresseux esclave, tu savais que je moissonne où je n’ai pas semé, et que je recueille où je n’ai pas répandu,
27– tu aurais donc dû placer mon argent chez les banquiers, et, quand je serais venu, j’aurais reçu ce qui est à moi avec l’intérêt.
28Ôtez-lui donc le talent, et donnez-le à celui qui a les dix talents ;
29car à chacun qui a il sera donné, et il sera dans l’abondance ; mais à celui qui n’a pas, cela même qu’il a lui sera ôté.
30Et jetez l’esclave inutile dans les ténèbres de dehors : là seront les pleurs et les grincements de dents.
31Or, quand le fils de l’homme viendra dans sa gloire, et tous les anges avec lui, alors il s’assiéra sur le trône de sa gloire,
32et toutes les nations seront assemblées devant lui ; et il séparera les uns d’avec les autres, comme un berger sépare les brebis d’avec les chèvres ;
33et il mettra les brebis à sa droite et les chèvres à sa gauche.
34Alors le roi dira à ceux qui seront à sa droite : Venez, les bénis de mon Père, héritez du royaume qui vous est préparé dès la fondation du monde ;
35car j’ai eu faim, et vous m’avez donné à manger ; j’ai eu soif, et vous m’avez donné à boire ; j’étais étranger, et vous m’avez recueilli ;
36j’étais nu, et vous m’avez vêtu ; j’étais infirme, et vous m’avez visité ; j’étais en prison, et vous êtes venus auprès de moi.
37Alors les justes lui répondront, disant : Seigneur, quand est-ce que nous t’avons vu avoir faim, et que nous t’avons nourri ; ou avoir soif, et que nous t’avons donné à boire ?
38Et quand est-ce que nous t’avons vu étranger, et que nous t’avons recueilli ; ou nu, et que nous t’avons vêtu ?
39Et quand est-ce que nous t’avons vu infirme, ou en prison, et que nous sommes venus auprès de toi ?
40Et le roi, répondant, leur dira : En vérité, je vous dis : En tant que vous l’avez fait à l’un des plus petits de ceux-ci [qui sont] mes frères, vous me l’avez fait à moi.
41Alors il dira aussi à ceux qui seront à sa gauche : Allez-vous-en loin de moi, maudits, dans le feu éternel qui est préparé pour le diable et ses anges ;
42car j’ai eu faim, et vous ne m’avez pas donné à manger ; j’ai eu soif, et vous ne m’avez pas donné à boire ;
43j’étais étranger, et vous ne m’avez pas recueilli ; nu, et vous ne m’avez pas vêtu ; infirme et en prison, et vous ne m’avez pas visité.
44Alors eux aussi répondront, disant : Seigneur, quand est-ce que nous t’avons vu avoir faim, ou avoir soif, ou être étranger, ou nu, ou infirme, ou en prison, et que nous ne t’avons pas servi ?
45Alors il leur répondra, disant : En vérité, je vous dis : En tant que vous ne l’avez pas fait à l’un de ces plus petits, vous ne me l’avez pas fait non plus à moi.
46Et ceux-ci s’en iront dans les tourments éternels, et les justes, dans la vie éternelle.

1ENTONCES el reino de los cielos será semejante á diez vírgenes, que tomando sus lámparas, salieron á recibir al esposo.
2Y las cinco de ellas eran prudentes, y las cinco fatuas.
3Las que eran fatuas, tomando sus lámparas, no tomaron consigo aceite;
4Mas las prudentes tomaron aceite en sus vasos, juntamente con sus lámparas.
5Y tardándose el esposo, cabecearon todas, y se durmieron.
6Y á la media noche fué oído un clamor: He aquí, el esposo viene; salid á recibirle.
7Entonces todas aquellas vírgenes se levantaron, y aderezaron sus lámparas.
8Y las fatuas dijeron á las prudentes: Dadnos de vuestro aceite; porque nuestras lámparas se apagan.
9Mas las prudentes respondieron, diciendo: Porque no nos falte á nosotras y á vosotras, id antes á los que venden, y comprad para vosotras.
10Y mientras que ellas iban á comprar, vino el esposo; y las que estaban apercibidas, entraron con él á las bodas; y se cerró la puerta.
11Y después vinieron también las otras vírgenes, diciendo: Señor, Señor, ábrenos.
12Mas respondiendo él, dijo: De cierto os digo, que no os conozco.
13Velad, pues, porque no sabéis el día ni la hora en que el Hijo del hombre ha de venir.
14Porque el reino de los cielos es como un hombre que partiéndose lejos llamó á sus siervos, y les entregó sus bienes.
15Y á éste dió cinco talentos, y al otro dos, y al otro uno: á cada uno conforme á su facultad; y luego se partió lejos.
16Y el que había recibido cinco talentos se fué, y granjeó con ellos, é hizo otros cinco talentos.
17Asimismo el que había recibido dos, ganó también él otros dos.
18Mas el que había recibido uno, fué y cavó en la tierra, y escondió el dinero de su señor.
19Y después de mucho tiempo, vino el señor de aquellos siervos, é hizo cuentas con ellos.
20Y llegando el que había recibido cinco talentos, trajo otros cinco talentos, diciendo: Señor, cinco talentos me entregaste; he aquí otros cinco talentos he ganado sobre ellos.
21Y su señor le dijo: Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré: entra en el gozo de tu señor.
22Y llegando también el que había recibido dos talentos, dijo: Señor, dos talentos me entregaste; he aquí otros dos talentos he ganado sobre ellos.
23Su señor le dijo: Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré: entra en el gozo de tu señor.
24Y llegando también el que había recibido un talento, dijo: Señor, te conocía que eres hombre duro, que siegas donde no sembraste, y recoges donde no esparciste;
25Y tuve miedo, y fuí, y escondí tu talento en la tierra: he aquí tienes lo que es tuyo.
26Y respondiendo su señor, le dijo: Malo y negligente siervo, sabías que siego donde no sembré y que recojo donde no esparcí;
27Por tanto te convenía dar mi dinero á los banqueros, y viniendo yo, hubiera recibido lo que es mío con usura.
28Quitadle pues el talento, y dadlo al que tiene diez talentos.
29Porque á cualquiera que tuviere, le será dado, y tendrá más; y al que no tuviere, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.
30Y al siervo inútil echadle en las tinieblas de afuera: allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
31Y cuando el Hijo del hombre venga en su gloria, y todos los santos ángeles con él, entonces se sentará sobre el trono de su gloria.
32Y serán reunidas delante de él todas las gentes: y los apartará los unos de los otros, como aparta el pastor las ovejas de los cabritos.
33Y pondrá las ovejas á su derecha, y los cabritos á la izquierda.
34Entonces el Rey dirá á los que estarán á su derecha: Venid, benditos de mi Padre, heredad el reino preparado para vosotros desde la fundación del mundo:
35Porque tuve hambre, y me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y me disteis de beber; fuí huésped, y me recogisteis;
36Desnudo, y me cubristeis; enfermo, y me visitasteis; estuve en la cárcel, y vinisteis á mí.
37Entonces los justos le responderán, diciendo: Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, y te sustentamos? ¿ó sediento, y te dimos de beber?
38¿Y cuándo te vimos huésped, y te recogimos? ¿ó desnudo, y te cubrimos?
39¿O cuándo te vimos enfermo, ó en la cárcel, y vinimos á ti?
40Y respondiendo el Rey, les dirá: De cierto os digo que en cuanto lo hicisteis á uno de estos mis hermanos pequeñitos, á mí lo hicisteis.
41Entonces dirá también á los que estarán á la izquierda: Apartaos de mí, malditos, al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y para sus ángeles:
42Porque tuve hambre, y no me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y no me disteis de beber;
43Fuí huésped, y no me recogisteis; desnudo, y no me cubristeis; enfermo, y en la cárcel, y no me visitasteis.
44Entonces también ellos le responderán, diciendo: Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, ó sediento, ó huésped, ó desnudo, ó enfermo, ó en la cárcel, y no te servimos?
45Entonces les responderá, diciendo: De cierto os digo que en cuanto no lo hicisteis á uno de estos pequeñitos, ni á mí lo hicisteis.
46E irán éstos al tormento eterno, y los justos á la vida eterna.

1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

1“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
3Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
4but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
9But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
10While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
11Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
12But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
14“For it is like a man going into another country, who called his own servants and entrusted his goods to them.
15To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.
16Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17In the same way, he also who got the two gained another two.
18But he who received the one talent went away and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money.
19“Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and settled accounts with them.
20He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents in addition to them.’
21“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
22“He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents in addition to them.’
23“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things. I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24“He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you didn’t sow, and gathering where you didn’t scatter.
25I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’
26“But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.
27You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.
28Take away therefore the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.
29For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away.
30Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
31“But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory.
32Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34Then the King will tell those on his right hand, ‘Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
35for I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in.
36I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me.’
37“Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?
38When did we see you as a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe you?
39When did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?’
40“The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
41Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;
42for I was hungry, and you didn’t give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;

46These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
