Now when it was early morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus in order to put him to death.

Y VENIDA la mañana, entraron en consejo todos los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los ancianos del pueblo, contra Jesús, para entregarle á muerte.

And throwing the silver coins into the temple he departed. And he went away and hanged himself.

But the chief priests took the silver coins and said, “It is not permitted to put them into the temple treasury, because it is ⌞blood money⌟.”

And after taking counsel, they purchased ⌞with⌟ them the Potter’s Field, for a burial place for strangers.

and they gave them for the potter’s field, just as the Lord directed me.”

And ⌞when he was being accused⌟ by the chief priests and elders he answered nothing.

Then Pilate said to him, “Do you not hear how many things they are testifying against you?”

And he did not reply to him, not even with reference to one statement, so that the governor was very astonished.

When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of him.”

But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds that they should ask for Barabbas and put Jesus to death.

Mas los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos, persuadieron al pueblo que pidiese á Barrabás, y á Jesús matase.

But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

So the governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas!”

Y respondiendo el presidente les dijo: ¿Cuál de los dos queréis que os suelte? Y ellos dijeron: A Barrabás.

Pilate said to them, “What then should I do with Jesus, the one who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified!”

And he said, “Why? What wrong has he done?” But they began to shout even louder, saying, “Let him be crucified!”

Y el presidente les dijo: Pues ¿qué mal ha hecho? Mas ellos gritaban más, diciendo: Sea crucificado.

And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

But the governor said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, saying, “Let him be crucified!”

So Pilate, when he saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but instead an uproar was developing, took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this man. You see to it!”

Y viendo Pilato que nada adelantaba, antes se hacía más alboroto, tomando agua se lavó las manos delante del pueblo, diciendo: Inocente soy yo de la sangre de este justo: veréislo vosotros.

When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it.”

And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children!”

Y respondiendo todo el pueblo, dijo: Su sangre sea sobre nosotros, y sobre nuestros hijos.

Then he released Barabbas for them, but after he had Jesus flogged, he handed him over so that he could be crucified.

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor’s residence and gathered the whole cohort to him.

And they stripped him and put a scarlet military cloak around him,

And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

And they spat on him and took the reed and repeatedly struck him on his head.

they gave him wine mixed with gall to drink, and when he tasted it he did not want to drink it.

And they put above his head the charge against him ⌞in writing⌟: “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”

Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.

And those who passed by reviled him, shaking their heads

Y los que pasaban, le decían injurias, meneando sus cabezas,

and saying, “The one who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”

Y diciendo: Tú, el que derribas el templo, y en tres días lo reedificas, sálvate á ti mismo: si eres Hijo de Dios, desciende de la cruz.

And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”

In the same way also the chief priests, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking him, saying,

De esta manera también los príncipes de los sacerdotes, escarneciendo con los escribas y los Fariseos y los ancianos, decían:

Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

Likewise the chief priests also mocking with the scribes, the Pharisees, and the elders, said,

“He saved others; he is not able to save himself! He is the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him!

A otros salvó, á sí mismo no puede salvar: si es el Rey de Israel, descienda ahora de la cruz, y creeremos en él.

He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

“He saved others, but he can’t save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him.

He trusts in God; let him deliver him now if he wants to, because he said, ‘I am the Son of God’!”

Confió en Dios: líbrele ahora si le quiere: porque ha dicho: Soy Hijo de Dios.

And in the same way even the robbers who were crucified with him were reviling him.

Now from the sixth hour, darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour.

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, said, “This man is summoning Elijah!”

And immediately one of them ran and took a sponge and filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink.

And the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised,

Y abriéronse los sepulcros, y muchos cuerpos de santos que habían dormido, se levantaron;

Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

And there were many women there, observing from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him,

And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:

among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

This man approached Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him.

And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

saying, “Sir, we remember that while that deceiver was still alive he said, ‘After three days I will rise.’

Therefore give orders that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come and steal him and tell the people, ‘He has been raised from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”

Manda, pues, que se asegure el sepulcro hasta el día tercero; porque no vengan sus discípulos de noche, y le hurten, y digan al pueblo: Resucitó de los muertos. Y será el postrer error peor que el primero.

Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
