Jesús nació en un pueblo de Judea llamado Belén, durante el reinado de Herodes. Llegaron a Jerusalén varios sabios del oriente,
Y COMO fué nacido Jesús en Bethlehem de Judea en días del rey Herodes, he aquí unos magos vinieron del oriente á Jerusalem,
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Al oír esto, el rey Herodes y la ciudad entera se turbaron.
Y oyendo esto el rey Herodes, se turbó, y toda Jerusalem con él.

Inmediatamente Herodes convocó a todos los jefes de los sacerdotes y a los maestros religiosos del pueblo judío. ―¿Saben ustedes dónde nacerá el Mesías? —les preguntó.

Y tú, Bethlehem, de tierra de Judá, no eres muy pequeña entre los príncipes de Judá; porque de ti saldrá un guiador, que apacentará á mi pueblo Israel.
And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah; for out of you shall come a governor who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”
Entonces Herodes mandó llamar secretamente a los sabios, y averiguó la fecha exacta en que habían visto por primera vez la estrella.
Entonces Herodes, llamando en secreto á los magos, entendió de ellos diligentemente el tiempo del aparecimiento de la estrella;

Al terminar la audiencia con el rey, los sabios reanudaron el viaje. ¡Y la estrella que habían visto en el oriente los iba guiando hasta que se detuvo sobre la casa donde estaba el niño!
Y ellos, habiendo oído al rey, se fueron: y he aquí la estrella que habían visto en el oriente, iba delante de ellos, hasta que llegando, se puso sobre donde estaba el niño.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

Los sabios se llenaron de alegría cuando vieron la estrella.
Y vista la estrella, se regocijaron con muy grande gozo.

Entonces entraron en la casa, y al ver al niño con María, su madre, se postraron ante él para adorarlo. Luego abrieron sus alforjas y le ofrecieron como tributo oro, incienso y mirra.

Después Dios les avisó en sueños que no regresaran a donde estaba Herodes, y por eso se fueron a su país por otro camino.

And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

Cuando los visitantes ya habían partido, un ángel del Señor se le apareció a José en sueños y le dijo: «Levántate y huye a Egipto con el niño y su madre, y quédate allá hasta que yo te avise, porque el rey Herodes va a buscar al niño para matarlo».
Y partidos ellos, he aquí el ángel del Señor aparece en sueños á José, diciendo: Levántate, y toma al niño y á su madre, y huye á Egipto, y estáte allá hasta que yo te lo diga; porque ha de acontecer, que Herodes buscará al niño para matarlo.

Aquella misma noche huyó José con María y el niño hacia Egipto,

donde habrían de permanecer hasta la muerte del rey Herodes. Así se cumplió lo que había predicho el Señor por medio del profeta: «De Egipto llamé a mi Hijo».

Entonces Herodes se puso furioso por la burla de los sabios y mandó matar a todos los niños varones que vivieran en Belén y sus alrededores y que tuvieran dos años o menos. Lo ordenó así tomando en cuenta el tiempo que los sabios le habían indicado.
Herodes entonces, como se vió burlado de los magos, se enojó mucho, y envió, y mató á todos los niños que había en Bethlehem y en todos sus términos, de edad de dos años abajo, conforme al tiempo que había entendido de los magos.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.
Así se cumplió lo que había dicho el profeta Jeremías:

«Gritos de agonía y llanto incontenible se escuchan en Ramá; es Raquel que llora desconsolada la muerte de sus hijos».
Voz fué oída en Ramá, grande lamentación, lloro y gemido: Rachêl que llora sus hijos; y no quiso ser consolada, porque perecieron.
In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
“A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; she wouldn’t be comforted, because they are no more.”
Cuando Herodes murió, un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños a José en Egipto,
Mas muerto Herodes, he aquí el ángel del Señor aparece en sueños á José en Egipto,
But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,
y le dijo: «Levántate y regresa con el niño y su madre a Israel; porque los que querían matarlo ya murieron».
Diciendo: Levántate, y toma al niño y á su madre, y vete á tierra de Israel; que muertos son los que procuraban la muerte del niño.
Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.

Así fue como José regresó a la tierra de Israel con el niño y su madre. Pero en el camino se enteró de que Arquelao, hijo de Herodes, reinaba en Judea, y tuvo miedo de ir allí.

Luego Dios le indicó en sueños que fuera a Galilea;
Y oyendo que Archelao reinaba en Judea en lugar de Herodes su padre, temió ir allá: mas amonestado por revelación en sueños, se fué á las partes de Galilea.
But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:

y se fueron a vivir a un lugar llamado Nazaret. Así se cumplieron las predicciones de los profetas que afirmaban que Jesús sería llamado nazareno.
Y vino, y habitó en la ciudad que se llama Nazaret: para que se cumpliese lo que fué dicho por los profetas, que había de ser llamado Nazareno.
And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
