In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
In those days, John the Baptizer came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,
et disant : Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux s'est approché.
Y diciendo: Arrepentíos, que el reino de los cielos se ha acercado.
And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”
Car c'est ici celui dont a parlé Esaïe le prophète, en disant : Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert : Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, aplanissez ses sentiers.
Porque éste es aquel del cual fué dicho por el profeta Isaías, que dijo: Voz de uno que clama en el desierto: Aparejad el camino del Señor, enderezad sus veredas.
For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make the way of the Lord ready! Make his paths straight!”

Y tenía Juan su vestido de pelos de camellos, y una cinta de cuero alrededor de sus lomos; y su comida era langostas y miel silvestre.
And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
Now John himself wore clothing made of camel’s hair with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
Alors Jérusalem et toute la Judée et tous les environs du Jourdain sortaient vers lui.
Entonces salía á él Jerusalem, y toda Judea, y toda la provincia de alrededor del Jordán;
Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him.
Et ils étaient baptisés par lui dans le fleuve du Jourdain, en confessant leurs péchés.

Y viendo él muchos de los Fariseos y de los Saduceos, que venían á su bautismo, decíales: Generación de víboras, ¿quién os ha enseñado á huir de la ira que vendrá?

Produisez donc du fruit digne de la repentance.
Haced pues frutos dignos de arrepentimiento,

Et ne présumez pas de dire en vous-mêmes : Nous avons Abraham pour père ; car je vous dis que, de ces pierres-là, Dieu peut susciter des enfants à Abraham.
Y no penséis decir dentro de vosotros: A Abraham tenemos por padre: porque yo os digo, que puede Dios despertar hijos á Abraham aun de estas piedras.
And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Don’t think to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
Et déjà la hache est mise à la racine des arbres ; tout arbre donc qui ne produit point de bon fruit est coupé et jeté au feu.
Ahora, ya también la segur está puesta á la raíz de los árboles; y todo árbol que no hace buen fruto, es cortado y echado en el fuego.
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
Pour moi, je vous baptise d'eau, en vue de la repentance ; mais celui qui vient après moi est plus puissant que moi, et je ne suis pas digne de lui porter ses souliers ; c'est lui qui vous baptisera d'Esprit-Saint et de feu.
Yo á la verdad os bautizo en agua para arrepentimiento; mas el que viene tras mí, más poderoso es que yo; los zapatos del cual yo no soy digno de llevar; él os bautizará en Espíritu Santo y en fuego.
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
“I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
Il a son van en sa main, et nettoiera parfaitement son aire, et amassera son froment dans le grenier, mais il brûlera la paille dans un feu qui ne s'éteint point.
Su aventador en su mano está, y aventará su era: y allegará su trigo en el alfolí, y quemará la paja en fuego que nunca se apagará.
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.”
Alors Jésus vient de la Galilée, au Jourdain, vers Jean, pour être baptisé par lui.
Entonces Jesús vino de Galilea á Juan al Jordán, para ser bautizado de él.
Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.
Mais Jean s'y opposait, disant : C'est moi qui ai besoin d'être baptisé par toi, et tu viens à moi !
Mas Juan lo resistía mucho, diciendo: Yo he menester ser bautizado de ti, ¿y tú vienes á mí?
But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
But John would have hindered him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”
Mais Jésus répondant, lui dit : Laisse faire pour le présent, car c'est ainsi qu'il nous sied d'accomplir toute justice. Alors il le laisse faire.
Empero respondiendo Jesús le dijo: Deja ahora; porque así nos conviene cumplir toda justicia. Entonces le dejó.
And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.
Or, après avoir été baptisé, Jésus remonta aussitôt de l'eau ; et voici, les cieux furent ouverts, et il vit l'Esprit de Dieu, descendant comme une colombe, venant sur lui.
Y Jesús, después que fué bautizado, subió luego del agua; y he aquí los cielos le fueron abiertos, y vió al Espíritu de Dios que descendía como paloma, y venía sobre él.
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.
Et voici une voix des cieux, qui disait : Celui-ci est mon fils bien-aimé, en qui je me complais.
Y he aquí una voz de los cielos que decía: Este es mi Hijo amado, en el cual tengo contentamiento.
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
