1Als er aber die Volksmengen sah, stieg er auf den Berg; und als er sich gesetzt hatte, traten seine Jünger zu ihm.
2Und er tat seinen Mund auf, lehrte sie und sprach:
3Glückselig die Armen im Geiste, denn ihrer ist das Reich der Himmel.
4Glückselig die Trauernden, denn sie werden getröstet werden.
5Glückselig die Sanftmütigen, denn sie werden das Land ererben.
6Glückselig die nach der Gerechtigkeit hungern und dürsten, denn sie werden gesättigt werden.
7Glückselig die Barmherzigen, denn ihnen wird Barmherzigkeit widerfahren.
8Glückselig die reinen Herzens sind, denn sie werden Gott schauen.
9Glückselig die Friedensstifter, denn sie werden Söhne Gottes heißen.
10Glückselig die um Gerechtigkeit willen Verfolgten, denn ihrer ist das Reich der Himmel.
11Glückselig seid ihr, wenn sie euch schmähen und verfolgen und jedes böse Wort lügnerisch wider euch reden werden um meinetwillen.
12Freuet euch und frohlocket, denn euer Lohn ist groß in den Himmeln; denn also haben sie die Propheten verfolgt, die vor euch waren.
13Ihr seid das Salz der Erde; wenn aber das Salz kraftlos geworden ist, womit soll es gesalzen werden? Es taugt zu nichts mehr, als hinausgeworfen und von den Menschen zertreten zu werden.
14Ihr seid das Licht der Welt; eine Stadt, die oben auf einem Berge liegt, kann nicht verborgen sein.
15Man zündet auch nicht eine Lampe an und setzt sie unter den Scheffel sondern auf das Lampengestell, und sie leuchtet allen, die im Hause sind.
16Also lasset euer Licht leuchten vor den Menschen, damit sie eure guten Werke sehen und euren Vater, der in den Himmeln ist, verherrlichen.
17Wähnet nicht, daß ich gekommen sei, das Gesetz oder die Propheten aufzulösen; ich bin nicht gekommen, aufzulösen, sondern zu erfüllen.
18Denn wahrlich, ich sage euch: Bis der Himmel und die Erde vergehen, soll auch nicht ein Jota oder ein Strichlein von dem Gesetz vergehen, bis alles geschehen ist.
19Wer irgend nun eines dieser geringsten Gebote auflöst und also die Menschen lehrt, wird der Geringste heißen im Reiche der Himmel; wer irgend aber sie tut und lehrt, dieser wird groß heißen im Reiche der Himmel.
20Denn ich sage euch: Wenn nicht eure Gerechtigkeit vorzüglicher ist als die der Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, so werdet ihr nicht in das Reich der Himmel eingehen.
21Ihr habt gehört, daß zu den Alten gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht töten; wer aber irgend töten wird, wird dem Gericht verfallen sein.
22Ich aber sage euch, daß jeder, der seinem Bruder [ohne Grund] zürnt, dem Gericht verfallen sein wird; wer aber irgend zu seinem Bruder sagt: Raka! dem Synedrium verfallen sein wird; wer aber irgend sagt: Du Narr! der Hölle des Feuers verfallen sein wird.
23Wenn du nun deine Gabe darbringst zu dem Altar und dich daselbst erinnerst, daß dein Bruder etwas wider dich habe,
24so laß daselbst deine Gabe vor dem Altar und geh zuvor hin, versöhne dich mit deinem Bruder; und dann komm und bringe deine Gabe dar.
25Willfahre deiner Gegenpartei schnell, während du mit ihr auf dem Wege bist; damit nicht etwa die Gegenpartei dich dem Richter überliefere, und der Richter dich dem Diener überliefere, und du ins Gefängnis geworfen werdest.
26Wahrlich, ich sage dir: Du wirst nicht von dannen herauskommen, bis du auch den letzten Pfennig bezahlt hast.
27Ihr habt gehört, daß gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht ehebrechen.
28Ich aber sage euch, daß jeder, der ein Weib ansieht, ihrer zu begehren, schon Ehebruch mit ihr begangen hat in seinem Herzen.
29Wenn aber dein rechtes Auge dich ärgert, so reiß es aus und wirf es von dir; denn es ist dir nütze, daß eines deiner Glieder umkomme und nicht dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen werde.
30Und wenn deine rechte Hand dich ärgert, so haue sie ab und wirf sie von dir; denn es ist dir nütze, daß eines deiner Glieder umkomme und nicht dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen werde.
31Es ist aber gesagt: Wer irgend sein Weib entlassen wird, gebe ihr einen Scheidebrief.

33Wiederum habt ihr gehört, daß zu den Alten gesagt ist: Du sollst nicht fälschlich schwören, du sollst aber dem Herrn deine Eide erfüllen.
34Ich aber sage euch: Schwöret überhaupt nicht; weder bei dem Himmel, denn er ist Gottes Thron;
35noch bei der Erde, denn sie ist seiner Füße Schemel; noch bei Jerusalem, denn sie ist des großen Königs Stadt;
36noch sollst du bei deinem Haupte schwören, denn du vermagst nicht, ein Haar weiß oder schwarz zu machen.
37Es sei aber eure Rede: Ja, ja; nein, nein; was aber mehr ist als dieses, ist aus dem Bösen.
38Ihr habt gehört, daß gesagt ist: Auge um Auge, und Zahn um Zahn.
39Ich aber sage euch: Widerstehet nicht dem Bösen, sondern wer irgend dich auf deinen rechten Backen schlagen wird, dem biete auch den anderen dar;
40und dem, der mit dir vor Gericht gehen und deinen Leibrock nehmen will, dem laß auch den Mantel.
41Und wer irgend dich zwingen wird, eine Meile zu gehen, mit dem geh zwei.
42Gib dem, der dich bittet, und weise den nicht ab, der von dir borgen will.
43Ihr habt gehört, daß gesagt ist: Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben und deinen Feind hassen.
44Ich aber sage euch: Liebet eure Feinde, [segnet, die euch fluchen, tut wohl denen, die euch hassen,] und betet für die, die euch [beleidigen und] verfolgen,
45damit ihr Söhne eures Vaters seid, der in den Himmeln ist; denn er läßt seine Sonne aufgehen über Böse und Gute und läßt regnen über Gerechte und Ungerechte.
46Denn wenn ihr liebet, die euch lieben, welchen Lohn habt ihr? Tun nicht auch die Zöllner dasselbe?
47Und wenn ihr eure Brüder allein grüßet, was tut ihr Besonderes? Tun nicht auch die von den Nationen dasselbe?
48Ihr nun sollt vollkommen sein, wie euer himmlischer Vater vollkommen ist.

1Y VIENDO las gentes, subió al monte; y sentándose, se llegaron á él sus discípulos.
2Y abriendo su boca, les enseñaba, diciendo:
3Bienaventurados los pobres en espíritu: porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos.
4Bienaventurados los que lloran: porque ellos recibirán consolación.
5Bienaventurados los mansos: porque ellos recibirán la tierra por heredad.
6Bienaventurados los que tienen hambre y sed de justicia: porque ellos serán hartos.
7Bienaventurados los misericordiosos: porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia.
8Bienaventurados los de limpio corazón: porque ellos verán á Dios.
9Bienaventurados los pacificadores: porque ellos serán llamados hijos de Dios.
10Bienaventurados los que padecen persecución por causa de la justicia: porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos.
11Bienaventurados sois cuando os vituperaren y os persiguieren, y dijeren de vosotros todo mal por mi causa, mintiendo.
12Gozaos y alegraos; porque vuestra merced es grande en los cielos: que así persiguieron á los profetas que fueron antes de vosotros.
13Vosotros sois la sal de la tierra: y si la sal se desvaneciere ¿con qué será salada? no vale más para nada, sino para ser echada fuera y hollada de los hombres.
14Vosotros sois la luz del mundo: una ciudad asentada sobre un monte no se puede esconder.
15Ni se enciende una lámpara y se pone debajo de un almud, mas sobre el candelero, y alumbra á todos los que están en casa.
16Así alumbre vuestra luz delante de los hombres, para que vean vuestras obras buenas, y glorifiquen á vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.
17No penséis que he venido para abrogar la ley ó los profetas: no he venido para abrogar, sino á cumplir.
18Porque de cierto os digo, que hasta que perezca el cielo y la tierra, ni una jota ni un tilde perecerá de la ley, hasta que todas las cosas sean hechas.
19De manera que cualquiera que infringiere uno de estos mandamientos muy pequeños, y así enseñare á los hombres, muy pequeño será llamado en el reino de los cielos: mas cualquiera que hiciere y enseñare, éste será llamado grande en el reino de los cielos.
20Porque os digo, que si vuestra justicia no fuere mayor que la de los escribas y de los Fariseos, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos.
21Oísteis que fué dicho á los antiguos: No matarás; mas cualquiera que matare, será culpado del juicio.
22Mas yo os digo, que cualquiera que se enojare locamente con su hermano, será culpado del juicio; y cualquiera que dijere á su hermano, Raca, será culpado del concejo; y cualquiera que dijere, Fatuo, será culpado del infierno del fuego.
23Por tanto, si trajeres tu presente al altar, y allí te acordares de que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti,
24Deja allí tu presente delante del altar, y vete, vuelve primero en amistad con tu hermano, y entonces ven y ofrece tu presente.
25Concíliate con tu adversario presto, entre tanto que estás con él en el camino; porque no acontezca que el adversario te entregue al juez, y el juez te entregue al alguacil, y seas echado en prisión.
26De cierto te digo, que no saldrás de allí, hasta que pagues el último cuadrante.
27Oísteis que fué dicho: No adulterarás:
28Mas yo os digo, que cualquiera que mira á una mujer para codiciarla, ya adulteró con ella en su corazón.
29Por tanto, si tu ojo derecho te fuere ocasión de caer, sácalo, y échalo de ti: que mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, que no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al infierno.
30Y si tu mano derecha te fuere ocasión de caer, córtala, y échala de ti: que mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, que no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al infierno.
31También fué dicho: Cualquiera que repudiare á su mujer, déle carta de divorcio:
32Mas yo os digo, que el que repudiare á su mujer, fuera de causa de fornicación, hace que ella adultere; y el que se casare con la repudiada, comete adulterio.
33Además habéis oído que fué dicho á los antiguos: No te perjurarás; mas pagarás al Señor tus juramentos.
34Mas yo os digo: No juréis en ninguna manera: ni por el cielo, porque es el trono de Dios;
35Ni por la tierra, porque es el estrado de sus pies; ni por Jerusalem, porque es la ciudad del gran Rey.
36Ni por tu cabeza jurarás, porque no puedes hacer un cabello blanco ó negro.
37Mas sea vuestro hablar: Sí, sí; No, no; porque lo que es más de esto, de mal procede.
38Oísteis que fué dicho á los antiguos: Ojo por ojo, y diente por diente.
39Mas yo os digo: No resistáis al mal; antes á cualquiera que te hiriere en tu mejilla diestra, vuélvele también la otra;
40Y al que quisiere ponerte á pleito y tomarte tu ropa, déjale también la capa;
41Y á cualquiera que te cargare por una milla, ve con él dos.
42Al que te pidiere, dale; y al que quisiere tomar de ti prestado, no se lo rehuses.
43Oísteis que fué dicho: Amarás á tu prójimo, y aborrecerás á tu enemigo.
44Mas yo os digo: Amad á vuestros enemigos, bendecid á los que os maldicen, haced bien á los que os aborrecen, y orad por los que os ultrajan y os persiguen;
45Para que seáis hijos de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos: que hace que su sol salga sobre malos y buenos, y llueve sobre justos é injustos.
46Porque si amareis á los que os aman, ¿qué recompensa tendréis? ¿no hacen también lo mismo los publicanos?
47Y si abrazareis á vuestros hermanos solamente, ¿qué hacéis de más? ¿no hacen también así los Gentiles?
48Sed, pues, vosotros perfectos, como vuestro Padre que está en los cielos es perfecto.

2And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

23Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
31It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

13“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

21“You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’
22But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.
23“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
24leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
25Agree with your adversary quickly while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.

33“Again you have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’
34but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
35nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.
37But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.

39But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.

43“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
44But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
45that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
46For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
47If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
48Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
