Als Jesus nun die Volksscharen sah, ging er ins Gebirge hinauf, und nachdem er sich dort gesetzt hatte, traten seine Jünger zu ihm.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Freuet euch darüber und jubelt, denn euer Lohn ist groß im Himmel! Ebenso hat man ja auch die Propheten vor euch verfolgt.«

Gozaos y alegraos; porque vuestra merced es grande en los cielos: que así persiguieron á los profetas que fueron antes de vosotros.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

»Ihr seid das Salz der Erde! Wenn aber das Salz fade geworden ist, womit soll es wieder gesalzen werden? Es taugt zu nichts mehr, als aus dem Hause geworfen und von den Leuten zertreten zu werden. –

Vosotros sois la sal de la tierra: y si la sal se desvaneciere ¿con qué será salada? no vale más para nada, sino para ser echada fuera y hollada de los hombres.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

Ihr seid das Licht der Welt! Eine Stadt, die oben auf einem Berge liegt, kann nicht verborgen bleiben.

Vosotros sois la luz del mundo: una ciudad asentada sobre un monte no se puede esconder.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

“You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.

Man zündet auch nicht ein Licht an und stellt es unter den Scheffel, sondern auf den Leuchter: dann leuchtet es allen, die im Hause sind.

Ni se enciende una lámpara y se pone debajo de un almud, mas sobre el candelero, y alumbra á todos los que están en casa.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.

Ebenso soll auch euer Licht vor den Menschen leuchten, damit sie eure guten Werke sehen und euren Vater, der im Himmel ist, preisen.«

Así alumbre vuestra luz delante de los hombres, para que vean vuestras obras buenas, y glorifiquen á vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

»Denkt nicht, daß ich gekommen sei, das Gesetz oder die Propheten aufzulösen! Ich bin nicht gekommen aufzulösen, sondern zu erfüllen.

No penséis que he venido para abrogar la ley ó los profetas: no he venido para abrogar, sino á cumplir.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

“Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.

Denn wahrlich ich sage euch: Bis Himmel und Erde vergehen, wird vom Gesetz nicht ein einziges Jota und kein Strichlein vergehen, bis alles in Erfüllung gegangen ist.

Porque de cierto os digo, que hasta que perezca el cielo y la tierra, ni una jota ni un tilde perecerá de la ley, hasta que todas las cosas sean hechas.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.

Wer also ein einziges von diesen Geboten – und wäre es das geringste – auflöst und die Menschen demgemäß lehrt, der wird der Geringste im Himmelreich heißen; wer sie aber tut und (die Menschen) so lehrt, der wird groß im Himmelreich heißen.

De manera que cualquiera que infringiere uno de estos mandamientos muy pequeños, y así enseñare á los hombres, muy pequeño será llamado en el reino de los cielos: mas cualquiera que hiciere y enseñare, éste será llamado grande en el reino de los cielos.

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Denn ich sage euch: Wenn es mit eurer Gerechtigkeit nicht weit besser bestellt ist als bei den Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäern, so werdet ihr nimmermehr ins Himmelreich eingehen!«

Porque os digo, que si vuestra justicia no fuere mayor que la de los escribas y de los Fariseos, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos.

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

»Ihr habt gehört, daß den Alten geboten worden ist: ›Du sollst nicht töten‹, wer aber tötet, soll dem Gericht verfallen sein.

Oísteis que fué dicho á los antiguos: No matarás; mas cualquiera que matare, será culpado del juicio.

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

“You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’

Ich dagegen sage euch: Wer seinem Bruder auch nur zürnt, der soll dem Gericht verfallen sein; und wer zu seinem Bruder ›Dummkopf‹ sagt, soll dem Hohen Rat verfallen sein; und wer ›du Narr‹ zu ihm sagt, soll der Feuerhölle verfallen sein.

Mas yo os digo, que cualquiera que se enojare locamente con su hermano, será culpado del juicio; y cualquiera que dijere á su hermano, Raca, será culpado del concejo; y cualquiera que dijere, Fatuo, será culpado del infierno del fuego.

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.

Wenn du also deine Opfergabe zum Altar bringst und dich dort erinnerst, daß dein Bruder etwas gegen dich hat,

Por tanto, si trajeres tu presente al altar, y allí te acordares de que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti,

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,

so laß deine Gabe dort vor dem Altar und gehe zunächst hin und versöhne dich mit deinem Bruder; alsdann geh hin und opfere deine Gabe!

Deja allí tu presente delante del altar, y vete, vuelve primero en amistad con tu hermano, y entonces ven y ofrece tu presente.

Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Sei zum Vergleich mit deinem Widersacher ohne Säumen bereit, solange du mit ihm noch auf dem Wege (zum Richter) bist, damit dein Widersacher dich nicht dem Richter übergibt und der Richter dich dem Gerichtsdiener (überantwortet) und du ins Gefängnis gesetzt wirst.

Concíliate con tu adversario presto, entre tanto que estás con él en el camino; porque no acontezca que el adversario te entregue al juez, y el juez te entregue al alguacil, y seas echado en prisión.

Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

Agree with your adversary quickly while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.

Wahrlich ich sage dir: Du wirst von dort sicherlich nicht herauskommen, bis du den letzten Pfennig bezahlt hast.

De cierto te digo, que no saldrás de allí, hasta que pagues el último cuadrante.

Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there until you have paid the last penny.

Ihr habt gehört, daß (den Alten) geboten worden ist: ›Du sollst nicht ehebrechen!‹

Oísteis que fué dicho: No adulterarás:

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery;’

Ich dagegen sage euch: Wer eine Ehefrau auch nur mit Begehrlichkeit anblickt, hat damit schon in seinem Herzen Ehebruch an ihr begangen.

Mas yo os digo, que cualquiera que mira á una mujer para codiciarla, ya adulteró con ella en su corazón.

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Wenn dich also dein rechtes Auge ärgert, so reiß es aus und wirf es weg von dir; denn es ist besser für dich, daß eines deiner Glieder (dir) verloren geht, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen wird.

Por tanto, si tu ojo derecho te fuere ocasión de caer, sácalo, y échalo de ti: que mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, que no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al infierno.

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.

Und wenn deine rechte Hand dich ärgert, so haue sie ab und wirf sie weg von dir; denn es ist besser für dich, daß eines deiner Glieder (dir) verloren geht, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen wird. –

Y si tu mano derecha te fuere ocasión de caer, córtala, y échala de ti: que mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, que no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al infierno.

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.

Ferner ist (zu den Alten) gesagt worden: ›Wer seine Ehefrau entläßt, der soll ihr einen Scheidebrief geben!‹

También fué dicho: Cualquiera que repudiare á su mujer, déle carta de divorcio:

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

“It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,’

Ich dagegen sage euch: Wer sich von seiner Frau scheidet – außer auf Grund von Unzucht –, der verschuldet es, daß dann Ehebruch mit ihr verübt wird; und wer eine entlassene Frau heiratet, der begeht Ehebruch.

Mas yo os digo, que el que repudiare á su mujer, fuera de causa de fornicación, hace que ella adultere; y el que se casare con la repudiada, comete adulterio.

But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.

Ihr habt weiter gehört, daß den Alten geboten worden ist: ›Du sollst nicht falsch schwören‹, ›sollst aber dem Herrn deine Eide erfüllen!‹

Además habéis oído que fué dicho á los antiguos: No te perjurarás; mas pagarás al Señor tus juramentos.

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

“Again you have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’

Ich dagegen sage euch: Ihr sollt überhaupt nicht schwören, weder beim Himmel, denn er ist Gottes Thron,

Mas yo os digo: No juréis en ninguna manera: ni por el cielo, porque es el trono de Dios;

But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:

but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;

noch bei der Erde, denn sie ist der Schemel seiner Füße, noch bei Jerusalem, denn es ist die Stadt des großen Königs.

Ni por la tierra, porque es el estrado de sus pies; ni por Jerusalem, porque es la ciudad del gran Rey.

Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

Auch bei deinem Haupte sollst du nicht schwören, denn du vermagst kein einziges Haar weiß oder schwarz zu machen.

Ni por tu cabeza jurarás, porque no puedes hacer un cabello blanco ó negro.

Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.

Eure Rede sei vielmehr ›ja ja – nein nein‹; jeder weitere Zusatz ist vom Übel.

Mas sea vuestro hablar: Sí, sí; No, no; porque lo que es más de esto, de mal procede.

But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.

Ihr habt gehört, daß (den Alten) geboten worden ist: ›Auge um Auge und Zahn um Zahn!‹

Oísteis que fué dicho á los antiguos: Ojo por ojo, y diente por diente.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’

Ich dagegen sage euch: Ihr sollt dem Bösen keinen Widerstand leisten; sondern wer dich auf die rechte Wange schlägt, dem halte auch die andere hin,

Mas yo os digo: No resistáis al mal; antes á cualquiera que te hiriere en tu mejilla diestra, vuélvele también la otra;

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

und wer mit dir einen Rechtsstreit anfangen und dir den Rock nehmen will, dem überlaß auch noch den Mantel,

Y al que quisiere ponerte á pleito y tomarte tu ropa, déjale también la capa;

And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.

und wer dich zu einer Meile Weges nötigt, mit dem gehe zwei.

Y á cualquiera que te cargare por una milla, ve con él dos.

And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

Wer dich (um etwas) bittet, dem gib, und wer (Geld) von dir borgen will, den weise nicht ab!

Al que te pidiere, dale; y al que quisiere tomar de ti prestado, no se lo rehuses.

Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.

Ihr habt gehört, daß (den Alten) geboten worden ist; ›Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben, und deinen Feind hassen!‹

Oísteis que fué dicho: Amarás á tu prójimo, y aborrecerás á tu enemigo.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

Ich dagegen sage euch: Liebet eure Feinde und betet für eure Verfolger,

Mas yo os digo: Amad á vuestros enemigos, bendecid á los que os maldicen, haced bien á los que os aborrecen, y orad por los que os ultrajan y os persiguen;

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,

damit ihr euch als Söhne eures himmlischen Vaters erweist. Denn er läßt seine Sonne über Böse und Gute aufgehen und läßt regnen auf Gerechte und Ungerechte.

Para que seáis hijos de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos: que hace que su sol salga sobre malos y buenos, y llueve sobre justos é injustos.

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.

Denn wenn ihr (nur) die liebt, die euch lieben, welches Verdienst habt ihr da? Tun das nicht auch die Zöllner?

Porque si amareis á los que os aman, ¿qué recompensa tendréis? ¿no hacen también lo mismo los publicanos?

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?

Und wenn ihr nur eure Freunde grüßt, was tut ihr da Besonderes? Tun das nicht auch die Heiden?

Y si abrazareis á vuestros hermanos solamente, ¿qué hacéis de más? ¿no hacen también así los Gentiles?

And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?

Darum sollt ihr vollkommen sein, wie euer himmlischer Vater vollkommen ist.«

Sed, pues, vosotros perfectos, como vuestro Padre que está en los cielos es perfecto.

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
