1Y viendo las multitudes, subió al monte; y sentándose, sus discípulos vinieron a Él.
2Y abriendo su boca, les enseñaba, diciendo:
3Bienaventurados los pobres en espíritu; porque de ellos es el reino del cielo.
4Bienaventurados los que lloran; porque ellos serán consolados.
5Bienaventurados los mansos; porque ellos heredarán la tierra.
6Bienaventurados los que tienen hambre y sed de justicia; porque ellos serán saciados.
7Bienaventurados los misericordiosos; porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia.
8Bienaventurados los de limpio corazón; porque ellos verán a Dios.
9Bienaventurados los pacificadores; porque ellos serán llamados hijos de Dios.
10Bienaventurados los que padecen persecución por causa de la justicia; porque de ellos es el reino del cielo.
11Bienaventurados sois cuando por mi causa os vituperen y os persigan, y digan toda clase de mal contra vosotros, mintiendo.
12Regocijaos y alegraos; porque vuestra recompensa es grande en el cielo; porque así persiguieron a los profetas que fueron antes de vosotros.
13Vosotros sois la sal de la tierra; pero si la sal pierde su sabor, ¿con qué será salada? No sirve más para nada, sino para ser echada fuera y ser hollada por los hombres.
14Vosotros sois la luz del mundo. Una ciudad asentada sobre un monte no se puede esconder.
15Ni se enciende un candil y se pone debajo del almud, sino sobre el candelero, y alumbra a todos los que están en casa.
16Así alumbre vuestra luz delante de los hombres, para que vean vuestras buenas obras, y glorifiquen a vuestro Padre que está en el cielo.
17No penséis que he venido para abrogar la ley o los profetas; no he venido para abrogar, sino para cumplir.
18Porque de cierto os digo que hasta que pasen el cielo y la tierra, ni una jota ni una tilde pasará de la ley, hasta que todo sea cumplido.
19De manera que cualquiera que quebrantare uno de estos mandamientos muy pequeños, y así enseñare a los hombres, será llamado muy pequeño en el reino del cielo; mas cualquiera que los hiciere y enseñare, este será llamado grande en el reino del cielo.
20Porque os digo que si vuestra justicia no fuere mayor que la justicia de los escribas y fariseos, no entraréis en el reino del cielo.
21Oísteis que fue dicho por los antiguos: No matarás; y cualquiera que matare estará expuesto a juicio.
22Pero yo os digo que cualquiera que sin razón se enojare contra su hermano, estará en peligro del juicio; y cualquiera que dijere Raca a su hermano: estará en peligro del concilio; pero cualquiera que le dijere: Necio, estará en peligro del fuego del infierno.
23Por tanto, si trajeres tu ofrenda al altar, y allí te acordares que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti;
24deja allí tu ofrenda delante del altar, y ve, reconcíliate primero con tu hermano, y entonces ven y presenta tu ofrenda.
25Ponte de acuerdo pronto con tu adversario, mientras estás con él en el camino, no sea que el adversario te entregue al juez, y el juez te entregue al alguacil, y seas echado en la cárcel.
26De cierto te digo que no saldrás de allí, hasta que pagues el último cuadrante.
27Oísteis que fue dicho por los antiguos: No cometerás adulterio.
28Pero yo os digo que cualquiera que mira a una mujer para codiciarla, ya adulteró con ella en su corazón.
29Por tanto, si tu ojo derecho te es ocasión de caer, sácalo, y échalo de ti; pues mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, y no que todo tu cuerpo sea lanzado al infierno.
30Y si tu mano derecha te es ocasión de caer, córtala, y échala de ti; pues mejor te es que uno de tus miembros se pierda, y no que todo tu cuerpo sea lanzado al infierno.
31También fue dicho: Cualquiera que repudiare a su esposa, dele carta de divorcio.
32Pero yo os digo que cualquiera que repudiare a su esposa, salvo por causa de fornicación, hace que ella adultere; y el que se casa con la divorciada, comete adulterio.
33Además, oísteis que fue dicho por los antiguos: No perjurarás; mas cumplirás al Señor tus juramentos.
34Pero yo os digo: No juréis en ninguna manera; ni por el cielo, porque es el trono de Dios;
35ni por la tierra, porque es el estrado de sus pies; ni por Jerusalén, porque es la ciudad del gran Rey.
36Ni por tu cabeza jurarás, porque no puedes hacer blanco o negro un solo cabello.
37Mas sea vuestro hablar: Sí, sí: No, no; porque lo que es más de esto, de mal procede.
38Oísteis que fue dicho: Ojo por ojo, y diente por diente.
39Pero yo os digo: No resistáis el mal; antes a cualquiera que te hiera en la mejilla derecha, vuélvele también la otra;
40y a cualquiera que te demande ante la ley y tome tu túnica, déjale tomar también la capa;
41y cualquiera que te obligue a ir una milla, ve con él dos.
42Al que te pida, dale; y al que quiera tomar de ti prestado, no le rehúses.
43Oísteis que fue dicho: Amarás a tu prójimo, y aborrecerás a tu enemigo.
44Pero yo os digo: Amad a vuestros enemigos, bendecid a los que os maldicen, haced bien a los que os aborrecen, y orad por los que os ultrajan y os persiguen;
45para que seáis hijos de vuestro Padre que está en el cielo; porque Él hace que su sol salga sobre malos y buenos; y envía lluvia sobre justos e injustos.
46Porque si amáis a los que os aman, ¿qué recompensa tendréis? ¿No hacen también así los publicanos?
47Y si saludáis solamente a vuestros hermanos, ¿qué hacéis de más? ¿No hacen también así los publicanos?
48Sed, pues, vosotros perfectos, como vuestro Padre que está en el cielo es perfecto.

23Por tanto, si trajeres tu presente al altar, y allí te acordares de que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti,
24Deja allí tu presente delante del altar, y vete, vuelve primero en amistad con tu hermano, y entonces ven y ofrece tu presente.
25Concíliate con tu adversario presto, entre tanto que estás con él en el camino; porque no acontezca que el adversario te entregue al juez, y el juez te entregue al alguacil, y seas echado en prisión.
26De cierto te digo, que no saldrás de allí, hasta que pagues el último cuadrante.
27Oísteis que fué dicho: No adulterarás:
28Mas yo os digo, que cualquiera que mira á una mujer para codiciarla, ya adulteró con ella en su corazón.

33Además habéis oído que fué dicho á los antiguos: No te perjurarás; mas pagarás al Señor tus juramentos.
34Mas yo os digo: No juréis en ninguna manera: ni por el cielo, porque es el trono de Dios;
35Ni por la tierra, porque es el estrado de sus pies; ni por Jerusalem, porque es la ciudad del gran Rey.
36Ni por tu cabeza jurarás, porque no puedes hacer un cabello blanco ó negro.
37Mas sea vuestro hablar: Sí, sí; No, no; porque lo que es más de esto, de mal procede.

42Al que te pidiere, dale; y al que quisiere tomar de ti prestado, no se lo rehuses.
43Oísteis que fué dicho: Amarás á tu prójimo, y aborrecerás á tu enemigo.
44Mas yo os digo: Amad á vuestros enemigos, bendecid á los que os maldicen, haced bien á los que os aborrecen, y orad por los que os ultrajan y os persiguen;
45Para que seáis hijos de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos: que hace que su sol salga sobre malos y buenos, y llueve sobre justos é injustos.
46Porque si amareis á los que os aman, ¿qué recompensa tendréis? ¿no hacen también lo mismo los publicanos?
47Y si abrazareis á vuestros hermanos solamente, ¿qué hacéis de más? ¿no hacen también así los Gentiles?
48Sed, pues, vosotros perfectos, como vuestro Padre que está en los cielos es perfecto.

2And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
31It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
33Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:
35Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
36Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
38Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
41And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

11“Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
14“You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.
15Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
16Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17“Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.
19Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
20For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
21“You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’
22But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.
23“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
24leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
25Agree with your adversary quickly while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
26Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there until you have paid the last penny.
27“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery;’
28but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.
30If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.
31“It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,’
32but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.
33“Again you have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’
34but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
35nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.
37But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
38“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’
39But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.
41Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
42Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
43“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
44But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
45that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
46For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
47If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
48Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
