Jesús se subió de nuevo a la barca y regresó a la ciudad donde residía.

ENTONCES entrando en el barco, pasó á la otra parte, y vino á su ciudad.

And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.

Varios hombres le trajeron a un paralítico tendido en un camastro. Cuando Jesús vio la fe que tenían, dijo al enfermo: ―¡Ten ánimo, hijo! ¡Te perdono tus pecados!

Y he aquí le trajeron un paralítico, echado en una cama: y viendo Jesús la fe de ellos, dijo al paralítico: Confía, hijo; tus pecados te son perdonados.

And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you.”

«¡Blasfemia!» —pensaron algunos de los maestros religiosos que lo oyeron.

Y he aquí, algunos de los escribas decían dentro de sí: Este blasfema.

And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.

Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man blasphemes.”

Jesús, que sabía lo que estaban pensando, les dijo: ―¿A qué vienen esos malos pensamientos?

Y viendo Jesús sus pensamientos, dijo: ¿Por qué pensáis mal en vuestros corazones?

And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?

Díganme, ¿qué es más difícil: sanar a un enfermo o perdonarle sus pecados?

Porque, ¿qué es más fácil, decir: Los pecados te son perdonados; ó decir: Levántate, y anda?

For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?

For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven;’ or to say, ‘Get up, and walk’?

Pues voy a demostrarles que tengo autoridad en la tierra para perdonar los pecados. Entonces se dirigió al paralítico y le dijo: ―¡Levántate, recoge la camilla y vete a tu casa!

Pues para que sepáis que el Hijo del hombre tiene potestad en la tierra de perdonar pecados, (dice entonces al paralítico): Levántate, toma tu cama, y vete á tu casa.

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins—” (then he said to the paralytic), “Get up, and take up your mat, and go to your house.”

Y el paralítico se puso de pie y se fue a su casa.

Entonces él se levantó y se fué á su casa.

And he arose, and departed to his house.

Un escalofrío de temor sacudió a la multitud ante aquel milagro, y todos alababan a Dios por haberles dado tanto poder a los seres humanos.

Y las gentes, viéndolo, se maravillaron, y glorificaron á Dios, que había dado tal potestad á los hombres.

But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

Al salir del lugar, Jesús vio a Mateo, un cobrador de impuestos que estaba sentado junto a la mesa donde se pagaban los tributos. «Sígueme», le dijo Jesús. Mateo se levantó y se fue con él.

Y pasando Jesús de allí, vió á un hombre que estaba sentado al banco de los públicos tributos, el cual se llamaba Mateo; y dícele: Sígueme. Y se levantó, y le siguió.

And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

As Jesus passed by from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax collection office. He said to him, “Follow me.” He got up and followed him.

Ese mismo día cenó Jesús en su casa. Y junto con sus discípulos había muchos cobradores de impuestos y gente pecadora.

Y aconteció que estando él sentado á la mesa en casa, he aquí que muchos publicanos y pecadores, que habían venido, se sentaron juntamente á la mesa con Jesús y sus discípulos.

And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.

As he sat in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.

Al ver eso, los fariseos se indignaron. ―¿Por qué su Maestro anda con gente de esa calaña? —preguntaron a los discípulos.

Y viendo esto los Fariseos, dijeron á sus discípulos: ¿Por qué come vuestro Maestro con los publicanos y pecadores?

And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?

When the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

Jesús alcanzó a oír aquellas palabras y les respondió: ―Porque los sanos no necesitan médico, y los enfermos sí.

Y oyéndolo Jesús, les dijo: Los que están sanos no tienen necesidad de médico, sino los enfermos.

But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

When Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.

Vayan y traten de entender el texto que dice: “Misericordia quiero, no sacrificios”, porque yo no he venido a llamar a los buenos, sino a los malos.

Andad pues, y aprended qué cosa es: Misericordia quiero, y no sacrificio: porque no he venido á llamar justos, sino pecadores á arrepentimiento.

But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

But you go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Un día los discípulos de Juan se le acercaron a preguntarle: ―¿Por qué tus discípulos no ayunan como los fariseos y nosotros?

Entonces los discípulos de Juan vienen á él, diciendo: ¿Por qué nosotros y los Fariseos ayunamos muchas veces, y tus discípulos no ayunan?

Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?

Then John’s disciples came to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples don’t fast?”

―¿Acaso pueden estar tristes los invitados a una boda mientras el novio está con ellos? —les preguntó Jesús—. ¡Claro que no! Pero llegará el momento en que les quitarán al novio y entonces sí ayunarán.

Y Jesús les dijo: ¿Pueden los que son de bodas tener luto entre tanto que el esposo está con ellos? mas vendrán días cuando el esposo será quitado de ellos, y entonces ayunarán.

And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

A nadie se le ocurre remendar un vestido viejo con una tela nueva, porque lo más probable es que la tela nueva se encoja y rompa la vieja, con lo cual la rotura se haría mayor.

Y nadie echa remiendo de paño recio en vestido viejo; porque el tal remiendo tira del vestido, y se hace peor la rotura.

No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.

No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch would tear away from the garment, and a worse hole is made.

Y a nadie se le ocurre echar vino nuevo en odres viejos, porque los odres se romperían, y se perderían el vino y los odres. El vino nuevo se debe echar en odres nuevos, para que ambos se conserven.

Ni echan vino nuevo en cueros viejos: de otra manera los cueros se rompen, y el vino se derrama, y se pierden los cueros; mas echan el vino nuevo en cueros nuevos, y lo uno y lo otro se conserva juntamente.

Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins, or else the skins would burst, and the wine be spilled, and the skins ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”

Apenas terminó de pronunciar estas palabras, cuando un jefe de los judíos llegó y se postró ante él. ―Mi hija acaba de morir —le dijo—, pero sé que resucitará si vas y la tocas.

Hablando él estas cosas á ellos, he aquí vino un principal, y le adoraba, diciendo: Mi hija es muerta poco ha: mas ven y pon tu mano sobre ella, y vivirá.

While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

While he told these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.”

Jesús y los discípulos se dirigieron al hogar del jefe judío.

Y se levantó Jesús, y le siguió, y sus discípulos.

And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

Jesus got up and followed him, as did his disciples.

Mientras iban, una mujer que llevaba doce años enferma de un derrame de sangre, se acercó por detrás y tocó el borde del manto de Jesús.

Y he aquí una mujer enferma de flujo de sangre doce años había, llegándose por detrás, tocó la franja de su vestido:

And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

Behold, a woman who had a discharge of blood for twelve years came behind him, and touched the fringe of his garment;

Ella pensaba que si lo tocaba sanaría.

Porque decía entre sí: Si tocare solamente su vestido, seré salva.

For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

for she said within herself, “If I just touch his garment, I will be made well.”

Jesús se volvió y le dijo: ―Hija, tu fe te ha sanado. Vete tranquila. Y la mujer sanó en aquel mismo momento.

Mas Jesús volviéndose, y mirándola, dijo: Confía, hija, tu fe te ha salvado. Y la mujer fué salva desde aquella hora.

But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, “Daughter, cheer up! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.

Al llegar a la casa del jefe judío y escuchar el alboroto de los presentes y la música fúnebre,

Y llegado Jesús á casa del principal, viendo los tañedores de flautas, y la gente que hacía bullicio,

And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,

When Jesus came into the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd in noisy disorder,

Jesús dijo: ―Salgan de aquí. La niña no está muerta, sólo está dormida. La gente se rio de Jesús,

Díceles: Apartaos, que la muchacha no es muerta, mas duerme. Y se burlaban de él.

He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

he said to them, “Make room, because the girl isn’t dead, but sleeping.” They were ridiculing him.

y todos salieron. Jesús entró donde estaba la niña y la tomó de la mano. ¡Y la niña se levantó sana!

Y como la gente fué echada fuera, entró, y tomóla de la mano, y se levantó la muchacha.

But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.

But when the crowd was sent out, he entered in, took her by the hand, and the girl arose.

La noticia de este milagro se difundió por toda aquella región.

Y salió esta fama por toda aquella tierra.

And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

The report of this went out into all that land.

Cuando regresaba de la casa del jefe judío, dos ciegos lo siguieron gritando: ―¡Hijo de David, apiádate de nosotros!

Y pasando Jesús de allí, le siguieron dos ciegos, dando voces y diciendo: Ten misericordia de nosotros, Hijo de David.

And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

As Jesus passed by from there, two blind men followed him, calling out and saying, “Have mercy on us, son of David!”

Al llegar a la casa, Jesús les preguntó: ―¿Creen que puedo devolverles la vista? ―Sí, Señor —le contestaron—; creemos.

Y llegado á la casa, vinieron á él los ciegos; y Jesús les dice: ¿Creéis que puedo hacer esto? Ellos dicen: Sí, Señor.

And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

When he had come into the house, the blind men came to him. Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They told him, “Yes, Lord.”

Entonces él les tocó los ojos y dijo: —Hágase realidad lo que han creído.

Entonces tocó los ojos de ellos, diciendo: Conforme á vuestra fe os sea hecho.

Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.”

¡Y recobraron la vista! Jesús les pidió encarecidamente que no se lo contaran a nadie,

Y los ojos de ellos fueron abiertos. Y Jesús les encargó rigurosamente, diciendo: Mirad que nadie lo sepa.

And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

Then their eyes were opened. Jesus strictly commanded them, saying, “See that no one knows about this.”

pero apenas salieron de allí se pusieron a divulgar por aquellos lugares lo que Jesús había hecho.

Mas ellos salidos, divulgaron su fama por toda aquella tierra.

But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

But they went out and spread abroad his fame in all that land.

Cuando se fueron los ciegos, le llevaron a la casa a un hombre que había quedado mudo por culpa de demonios que se le habían metido.

Y saliendo ellos, he aquí, le trajeron un hombre mudo, endemoniado.

As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.

As they went out, behold, a mute man who was demon possessed was brought to him.

Tan pronto como Jesús los echó fuera, el hombre pudo hablar. La gente, maravillada, exclamó: «¡Jamás habíamos visto algo semejante en Israel!».

Y echado fuera el demonio, el mudo habló; y las gentes se maravillaron, diciendo: Nunca ha sido vista cosa semejante en Israel.

And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

When the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. The multitudes marveled, saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!”

En cambio, los fariseos decían: «Él puede echar fuera demonios porque tiene dentro al mismísimo príncipe de los demonios».

Mas los Fariseos decían: Por el príncipe de los demonios echa fuera los demonios.

But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

But the Pharisees said, “By the prince of the demons, he casts out demons.”

Jesús recorría las ciudades y los pueblos de la región enseñando en las sinagogas, predicando las buenas nuevas del reino y sanando a la gente de sus enfermedades y dolencias.

Y rodeaba Jesús por todas las ciudades y aldeas, enseñando en las sinagogas de ellos, y predicando el evangelio del reino, y sanando toda enfermedad y todo achaque en el pueblo.

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Al ver a las multitudes, sintió compasión de ellas, porque eran como ovejas desamparadas y dispersas que no tienen pastor.

Y viendo las gentes, tuvo compasión de ellas; porque estaban derramadas y esparcidas como ovejas que no tienen pastor.

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

«¡Es tan grande la mies y hay tan pocos obreros!» —les dijo a los discípulos—.

Entonces dice á sus discípulos: A la verdad la mies es mucha, mas los obreros pocos.

Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few.

«Pidan que el Señor de la mies consiga más obreros para sus campos».

Rogad, pues, al Señor de la mies, que envíe obreros á su mies.

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest.”
