1¡Ay de mí! Soy como el que ha llegado después de que ha pasado la cosecha y ya no encuentra ni higos ni uvas para comer. ¡Y yo que con tanta ilusión esperé por los buenos frutos!
2Ya no hay gente honrada en este país. ¡Ya no queda en este país ni una sola persona que practique la justicia! Son todas homicidas, que se vuelven contra sus propios familiares. ¡Unos a otros buscan hacerse daño!
3¡Se han vuelto expertos en hacer lo malo, a tal punto que no hay quien les supere en maldad! El gobernador exige recompensas, el juez acepta sobornos y el rico hace lo que le da la gana. ¡Por eso la ciudad se ha pervertido!
4El mejor de ellos es peor que un arbusto lleno de espinas; el más recto está más retorcido que una zarza. Pero ya se acerca el día de su castigo, tal como lo anunciaron los profetas. ¡Ese día habrá mucho llanto y desesperación!
5No confíes en nadie, ni en tu mejor amigo, mucho menos en tus gobernantes. ¡Ni siquiera confíes en tu esposa!
6Pues la maldad está tan extendida que el hijo desprecia a su padre, la hija desafía a su madre, la nuera maldice a su suegra. Sí, los enemigos de cada persona son los de su propia casa.
7Pero yo he puesto toda mi confianza en el Señor; yo confío en que Dios me salvará de cualquier peligro, y estoy seguro que siempre escucha mis ruegos.
8No te regocijes de mi derrota, enemiga mía, porque aunque caiga, me volveré a levantar. Porque aunque ahora vivan esta situación tan difícil que parece que atravieso un túnel oscuro, el Señor me sacará adelante hasta que vuelva a tener la situación bajo control. El Señor es para mí como luz en la noche oscura.
9Soportaré con paciencia mientras el Señor me castiga, porque reconozco que actué muy mal y lo ofendí. Pero estoy seguro de que luego él me defenderá de todos mis enemigos, y los castigará por todo el mal que me han hecho. Dios me sacará de las tinieblas a la luz, y me permitirá disfrutar de nuevo sus actos de bondad.
10Entonces mi enemigo, el que se burlaba de mí diciendo: «¿Dónde está ese Dios tuyo?», quedará avergonzado. Con mis propios ojos veré su derrota, pues será pisoteado como se hace con el lodo de las calles.
11Pueblo de Jerusalén, viene el día en que tus murallas serán reconstruidas y tus fronteras serán extendidas.
12Ciudadanos de muchas naciones vendrán y te rendirán homenaje, desde Asiria hasta Egipto, desde el río Nilo hasta el río Éufrates, desde un mar hasta otro mar y desde un monte hasta otro monte.
13La tierra de nuestros enemigos quedará convertida en un desierto a consecuencia de los horribles actos de maldad de sus habitantes.
14¡Señor, ven y cuida a tu pueblo, apacienta a tu rebaño! Haz que tu pueblo viva en paz y con prosperidad; permítele deleitarse en las fértiles praderas de Basán y Galaad, como antes lo hacía.
15¡Señor, realiza poderosos milagros en favor de tu pueblo, como los que hiciste cuando lo libraste de la esclavitud de Egipto!
16¡Que todas las naciones se queden con la boca abierta al ver tus maravillas! ¡Que se avergüencen al ver que su fortaleza es poca cosa ante tu extraordinario poder! ¡Que se queden mudas y sordas al contemplar tus maravillas!
17¡Que se arrastren por el polvo como si fueran serpientes o reptiles! ¡Que salgan temblando de sus refugios y se rindan ante ti, Señor y Dios nuestro!
18¿Dónde hay otro Dios como tú, que perdona los pecados de los que aún quedan de su pueblo? Pues tú no retienes para siempre el enojo contra tu pueblo, porque amas la misericordia y el perdón más que la cólera y el castigo.
19Una vez más ten compasión de nosotros y borra de tus registros nuestras faltas. ¡Olvídate de nuestras maldades como si hubieran sido echadas para siempre en lo más profundo del mar!
20¡Permítenos, Señor, disfrutar otra vez de ese amor y esa fidelidad que hace muchos años prometiste a nuestros antepasados Abraham y Jacob!

1¡AY de mí! que he venido á ser como cuando han cogido los frutos del verano, como cuando han rebuscado después de la vendimia, que no queda racimo para comer; mi alma deseó primeros frutos.
2Faltó el misericordioso de la tierra, y ninguno hay recto entre los hombres: todos acechan á la sangre; cada cual arma red á su hermano.
3Para completar la maldad con sus manos, el príncipe demanda, y el juez juzga por recompensa; y el grande habla el antojo de su alma, y lo confirman.
4El mejor de ellos es como el cambrón; el más recto, como zarzal: el día de tus atalayas, tu visitación, viene; ahora será su confusión.
5No creáis en amigo, ni confiéis en príncipe: de la que duerme á tu lado, guarda, no abras tu boca.
6Porque el hijo deshonra al padre, la hija se levanta contra la madre, la nuera contra su suegra: y los enemigos del hombre son los de su casa.
7Yo empero á Jehová esperaré, esperaré al Dios de mi salud: el Dios mío me oirá.
8Tú, enemiga mía, no te huelgues de mí: porque aunque caí, he de levantarme; aunque more en tinieblas, Jehová será mi luz.
9La ira de Jehová soportaré, porque pequé contra él, hasta que juzgue mi causa y haga mi juicio; él me sacará á luz; veré su justicia.
10Y mi enemiga verá, y la cubrirá vergüenza: la que me decía: ¿Dónde está Jehová tu Dios? Mis ojos la verán; ahora será hollada como lodo de las calles.
11El día en que se edificarán tus muros, aquel día será alejado el mandamiento.
12En ese día vendrán hasta ti desde Asiria y las ciudades fuertes, y desde las ciudades fuertes hasta el Río, y de mar á mar, y de monte á monte.
13Y la tierra con sus moradores será asolada por el fruto de sus obras.
14Apacienta tu pueblo con tu cayado, el rebaño de tu heredad, que mora solo en la montaña, en medio del Carmelo: pazcan en Basán y Galaad, como en el tiempo pasado.
15Yo les mostraré maravillas como el día que saliste de Egipto.
16Las gentes verán, y se avergonzarán de todas sus valentías; pondrán la mano sobre su boca, ensordecerán sus oídos.
17Lamerán el polvo como la culebra; como las serpientes de la tierra, temblarán en sus encierros: despavorirse han de Jehová nuestro Dios, y temerán de ti.
18¿Qué Dios como tú, que perdonas la maldad, y olvidas el pecado del resto de su heredad? No retuvo para siempre su enojo, porque es amador de misericordia.
19El tornará, él tendrá misericordia de nosotros; él sujetará nuestras iniquidades, y echará en los profundos de la mar todos nuestros pecados.
20Otorgarás á Jacob la verdad, y á Abraham la misericordia, que tú juraste á nuestros padres desde tiempos antiguos.

1Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.
2The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.
3That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.
4The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.
5Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.
6For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.
7Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
8Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.
9I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.
10Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.
11In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.
12In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.
13Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.
14Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.
15According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.
16The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.
17They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.
18Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
19He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
20Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.
World English Bible
1Misery is mine! Indeed, I am like one who gathers the summer fruits, as gleanings of the vineyard. There is no cluster of grapes to eat. My soul desires to eat the early fig.
2The godly man has perished out of the earth, and there is no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; every man hunts his brother with a net.
3Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler and judge ask for a bribe. The powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul. Thus they conspire together.
4The best of them is like a brier. The most upright is worse than a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen, even your visitation, has come; now is the time of their confusion.
5Don’t trust in a neighbor. Don’t put confidence in a friend. With the woman lying in your embrace, be careful of the words of your mouth!
6For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.
7But as for me, I will look to the LORD. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.
8Don’t rejoice against me, my enemy. When I fall, I will arise. When I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.
9I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my case and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light. I will see his righteousness.
10Then my enemy will see it, and shame will cover her who said to me, “Where is the LORD your God?” My eyes will see her. Now she will be trodden down like the mire of the streets.
11A day to build your walls! In that day, he will extend your boundary.
12In that day they will come to you from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, and from Egypt even to the River, and from sea to sea, and mountain to mountain.
13Yet the land will be desolate because of those who dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.
14Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your heritage, who dwell by themselves in a forest. Let them feed in the middle of fertile pasture land, in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.
15“As in the days of your coming out of the land of Egypt, I will show them marvelous things.”
16The nations will see and be ashamed of all their might. They will lay their hand on their mouth. Their ears will be deaf.
17They will lick the dust like a serpent. Like crawling things of the earth, they will come trembling out of their dens. They will come with fear to the LORD our God, and will be afraid because of you.
18Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness.
19He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
20You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.
