A su tiempo despachó un criado a los renteros para cobrar el fruto de la viña;

And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

mas ellos agarrándole le apalearon, y le despacharon con las manos vacías.

Por tercera vez envió a otro, al cual mataron; tras éste otros muchos, y de ellos a unos les hirieron, y a otros les quitaron la vida.

Y asiendo de él, le mataron, arrojándolo fuera de la viña.

¿No habéis leído este pasaje de la Escritura: La piedra que desecharon los que edificaban, vino a ser la principal piedra del ángulo.
¿Ni aun esta Escritura habéis leído: La piedra que desecharon los que edificaban, ésta es puesta por cabeza de esquina;
And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
Haven’t you even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which the builders rejected was made the head of the corner.
El Señor es el que hizo eso, y estamos viendo con nuestros ojos tal maravilla?
Por el Señor es hecho esto, y es cosa maravillosa en nuestros ojos?
This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes’?”
En la hora maquinaban cómo prenderle; porque bien conocieron que a ellos había enderezado la parábola; mas temieron al pueblo, y así dejándolo se marcharon.
Y procuraban prenderle, porque entendían que decía á ellos aquella parábola; mas temían á la multitud; y dejándole, se fueron.
And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
They tried to seize him, but they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spoke the parable against them. They left him and went away.
Pero le enviaron algunos fariseos y herodianos, para sorprenderle en alguna expresión;

And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.

los cuales vinieron y le dijeron: Maestro, nosotros sabemos que eres hombre veraz, y que no atiendes a respetos humanos, porque no miras la calidad de las personas, sino que enseñas el camino de Dios con lisura: ¿Nos es lícito a nosotros pagar tributo a César, o podremos no pagarlo?
Y viniendo ellos, le dicen: Maestro, sabemos que eres hombre de verdad, y que no te cuidas de nadie; porque no miras á la apariencia de hombres, antes con verdad enseñas el camino de Dios: ¿Es lícito dar tributo á César, ó no? ¿Daremos, ó no daremos?
And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Cæsar, or not?
When they had come, they asked him, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and don’t defer to anyone; for you aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?
Jesús penetrando su malicia, les dijo: ¿Para qué venis a tentarme? Dadme a ver un denario, o la moneda corriente.
Entonces él, como entendía la hipocresía de ellos, les dijo: ¿Por qué me tentáis? Traedme la moneda para que la vea.
Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.

Se lo presentaron, y él les dice: ¿De quién es esta imagen, y esta inscripción? Respondieron: De César.
Y ellos se la trajeron y les dice: ¿Cúya es esta imagen y esta inscripción? Y ellos le dijeron: De César.
And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Cæsar’s.

Entonces replicó Jesús , y les dijo: Pagad, pues, a César lo que es de César; y a Dios lo que es de Dios. Con cuya respuesta los dejó maravillados.
Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Dad lo que es de César á César; y lo que es de Dios, á Dios. Y se maravillaron de ello.
And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Cæsar the things that are Cæsar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.
Jesus answered them, “Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” They marveled greatly at him.
Vinieron después a encontrarle los saduceos que niegan la resurrección y le propusieron esta cuestión:
Entonces vienen á él los Saduceos, que dicen que no hay resurrección, y le preguntaron, diciendo:
Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
Some Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection, came to him. They asked him, saying,
Maestro, Moisés nos dejó ordenado por escrito, que si el hermano de uno muere, dejando a su mujer sin hijos, éste se case con la viuda, para que no falte a su hermano descendencia.
Maestro, Moisés nos escribió, que si el hermano de alguno muriese, y dejase mujer, y no dejase hijos, que su hermano tome su mujer, y levante linaje á su hermano.
Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
“Teacher, Moses wrote to us, ‘If a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife behind him, and leaves no children, that his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.’
Esto supuesto, eran siete hermanos; el mayor se casó, y vino a morir sin hijos.
Fueron siete hermanos: y el primero tomó mujer, y muriendo, no dejó simiente;
Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.

Con eso el segundo se casó con la viuda; pero murió también sin dejar sucesión. Del mismo modo el tercero.

En suma, los siete sucesivamente se casaron con ella, y ninguno tuvo hijos. Al cabo murió la mujer la última de todos.
Y la tomaron los siete, y tampoco dejaron simiente: á la postre murió también la mujer.
And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.

Ahora, pues, el día de la resurrección , cuando resuciten, ¿de cuál de éstos será mujer?; porque ella lo fue de los siete.

In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

Jesús en respuesta les dijo: ¿No veis que habéis caído en error, por no entender las Escrituras, ni el poder de Dios?
Entonces respondiendo Jesús, les dice: ¿No erráis por eso, porque no sabéis las Escrituras, ni la potencia de Dios?
And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
Jesus answered them, “Isn’t this because you are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God?
Porque cuando hayan resucitado de entre los muertos, ni los hombres tomarán mujeres, ni las mujeres maridos, sino que serán como los ángeles que están en los cielos.
Porque cuando resucitarán de los muertos, ni se casarán, ni serán dados en casamiento, mas son como los ángeles que están en los cielos.
For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

Ahora sobre que los muertos hayan de resucitar, ¿no habéis leído en el libro de Moisés, cómo Dios hablando con él en la zarza, le dijo: Yo soy el Dios de Abrahán, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob ?
Y de que los muertos hayan de resucitar, ¿no habéis leído en el libro de Moisés cómo le habló Dios en la zarza, diciendo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob?
And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
But about the dead, that they are raised, haven’t you read in the book of Moses about the Bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?
Y en verdad que Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos. Luego estáis vosotros en un gran error.
No es Dios de muertos, mas Dios de vivos; así que vosotros mucho erráis.
He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are therefore badly mistaken.”
Uno de los escribas, que había oído esta disputa, viendo lo bien que les había respondido, se arrimó y le preguntó cuál era el primero de todos los mandamientos.
Y llegándose uno de los escribas, que los había oído disputar, y sabía que les había respondido bien, le preguntó: ¿Cuál es el primer mandamiento de todos?
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
One of the scribes came and heard them questioning together, and knowing that he had answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the greatest of all?”
Y Jesús le respondió: El primero de todos los mandamientos es éste: Escucha, ¡oh Israel!, el Señor Dios tuyo, es el solo Dios:
Y Jesús le respondió: El primer mandamiento de todos es: Oye, Israel, el Señor nuestro Dios, el Señor uno es.
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

Amarás al Señor Dios tuyo con todo tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente, y con todas tus fuerzas; éste es el mandamiento primero;

el segundo, semejante al primero, es: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. No hay otro mandamiento que sea mayor que éstos.

And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Y el escriba le dijo: Maestro, has dicho bien y con verdad, que Dios es uno solo, y no hay otro fuera de él;
Entonces el escriba le dijo: Bien, Maestro, verdad has dicho, que uno es Dios, y no hay otro fuera de él;
And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
The scribe said to him, “Truly, teacher, you have said well that he is one, and there is none other but he;
y que el amarle de todo corazón, y con todo el espíritu, y con toda el alma, y con todas las fuerzas, y al prójimo como a sí mismo, vale más que todos los holocaustos y sacrificios.
Y que amarle de todo corazón, y de todo entendimiento, y de toda el alma, y de todas las fuerzas, y amar al prójimo como á sí mismo, más es que todos los holocaustos y sacrificios.
And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Viendo Jesús que había respondido sabiamente, le dijo: No estás lejos del reino de Dios. Y ya nadie osaba hacerle más preguntas.

And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from God’s Kingdom.” No one dared ask him any question after that.
Y enseñando y razonando después Jesús en el templo, decía: ¿Cómo dicen los escribas que el Cristo o Mesías es hijo de David?
Y respondiendo Jesús decía, enseñando en el templo: ¿Cómo dicen los escribas que el Cristo es hijo de David?
And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David?
Jesus responded, as he taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David?
Siendo así que el mismo David, inspirado del Espíritu Santo, dice: Dijo el Señor a mi Señor, siéntate a mi diestra hasta tanto que yo haya puesto a tus enemigos por tarima de tus pies.
Porque el mismo David dijo por el Espíritu Santo: Dijo el Señor á mi Señor: Siéntate á mi diestra, hasta que ponga tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.
For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
For David himself said in the Holy Spirit, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.”’
Pues si David le llama su Señor, ¿por dónde o cómo es su hijo? Y el numeroso auditorio le oía con gusto.
Luego llamándole el mismo David Señor, ¿de dónde, pues, es su hijo? Y los que eran del común del pueblo le oían de buena gana.
David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

Y les decía en sus instrucciones: Guardaos de los escribas que hacen gala de pasearse con vestidos rozagantes, y de ser saludados en la plaza,

And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

y de ocupar las primeras sillas en las sinagogas y los primeros asientos en los convites;
Y las primeras sillas en las sinagogas, y los primeros asientos en las cenas;
And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
and to get the best seats in the synagogues and the best places at feasts,
que devoran las casas de las viudas con el pretexto de que hacen por ellas largas oraciones; éstos serán castigados con más rigor.
Que devoran las casas de las viudas, y por pretexto hacen largas oraciones. Estos recibirán mayor juicio.
Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

Estando Jesús sentado frente al arca de las ofrendas, estaba mirando cómo la gente echaba dinero en ella; y muchos ricos echaban grandes cantidades.
Y estando sentado Jesús delante del arca de la ofrenda, miraba cómo el pueblo echaba dinero en el arca: y muchos ricos echaban mucho.
And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
Jesus sat down opposite the treasury and saw how the multitude cast money into the treasury. Many who were rich cast in much.
Vino también una viuda pobre, la cual metió dos blancas o pequeñas monedas de un cuarto;
Y como vino una viuda pobre, echó dos blancas, que son un maravedí.
And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
A poor widow came and she cast in two small brass coins, which equal a quadrans coin.
y entonces convocando a sus discípulos les dijo: En verdad os digo que esta pobre viuda ha echado más en el arca , que todos los otros.
Entonces llamando á sus discípulos, les dice: De cierto os digo que esta viuda pobre echó más que todos los que han echado en el arca:
And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
He called his disciples to himself and said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, this poor widow gave more than all those who are giving into the treasury,
Por cuanto los demás han echado algo de lo que les sobraba; pero ésta ha dado de su misma pobreza todo lo que tenía, todo su sustento.
Porque todos han echado de lo que les sobra; mas ésta, de su pobreza echó todo lo que tenía, todo su alimento.
For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
for they all gave out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, gave all that she had to live on.”
