72E subito per la seconda volta, il gallo cantò. E Pietro si ricordò della parola che Gesù gli aveva detta: Avanti che il gallo abbia cantato due volte, tu mi rinnegherai tre volte. Ed a questo pensiero si mise a piangere.

72And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

72The rooster crowed the second time. Peter remembered the words that Jesus said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” When he thought about that, he wept.
