Al caer el sol (por ser aquel día la parasceve, o día de preparación, que precede al sábado)

Y cuando fué la tarde, porque era la preparación, es decir, la víspera del sábado,

And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,
