1Und alsbald am frühen Morgen hielten die Hohenpriester Rat samt den Ältesten und Schriftgelehrten und das ganze Synedrium, und sie banden Jesum und führten ihn weg und überlieferten ihn dem Pilatus.
2Und Pilatus fragte ihn: Bist du der König der Juden? Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Du sagst es.
3Und die Hohenpriester klagten ihn vieler Dinge an.
4Pilatus aber fragte ihn wiederum und sprach: Antwortest du nichts? Siehe, wie vieles sie wider dich zeugen!
5Jesus aber antwortete gar nichts mehr, so daß Pilatus sich verwunderte.
6Auf das Fest aber pflegte er ihnen einen Gefangenen loszugeben, um welchen sie baten.
7Es war aber einer, genannt Barabbas, mit seinen Mitaufrührern gebunden, welche in dem Aufstande einen Mord begangen hatten.
8Und die Volksmenge erhob ein Geschrei und fing an zu begehren, daß er täte, wie er ihnen allezeit getan.
9Pilatus aber antwortete ihnen und sprach: Wollt ihr, daß ich euch den König der Juden losgebe?
10Denn er wußte, daß die Hohenpriester ihn aus Neid überliefert hatten,
11Die Hohenpriester aber wiegelten die Volksmenge auf, daß er ihnen lieber den Barabbas losgebe.
12Pilatus aber antwortete und sprach wiederum zu ihnen: Was wollt ihr denn, daß ich mit dem tue, welchen ihr König der Juden nennet?
13Sie aber schrieen wiederum: Kreuzige ihn!
14Pilatus aber sprach zu ihnen: Was hat er denn Böses getan? Sie aber schrieen übermäßig: Kreuzige ihn!
15Da aber Pilatus der Volksmenge willfahren wollte, gab er ihnen den Barabbas los und überliefere Jesum, nachdem er ihn hatte geißeln lassen, auf daß er gekreuzigt würde.
16Die Kriegsknechte aber führten ihn in den Hof hinein, das ist das Prätorium; und sie rufen die ganze Schar zusammen.
17Und sie legen ihm einen Purpur an und flechten eine Dornenkrone und setzen sie ihm auf;
18und sie fingen an, ihn zu grüßen: Sei gegrüßt, König der Juden!
19Und sie schlugen ihn mit einem Rohr auf das Haupt und spieen ihn an, und sie beugten die Knie und huldigten ihm.
20Und als sie ihn verspottet hatten, zogen sie ihm den Purpur aus und zogen ihm seine eigenen Kleider an; und sie führten ihn hinaus, auf daß sie ihn kreuzigten.
21Und sie zwingen einen Vorübergehenden, einen gewissen Simon von Kyrene, der vom Felde kam, den Vater Alexanders und Rufus', daß er sein Kreuz trüge.
22Und sie bringen ihn nach der Stätte Golgatha, was verdolmetscht ist Schädelstätte.
23Und sie gaben ihm Wein, mit Myrrhen vermischt, [zu trinken] er aber nahm es nicht.
24Und als sie ihn gekreuzigt hatten, verteilten sie seine Kleider, indem sie das Los über dieselben warfen, was jeder bekommen sollte.
25Es war aber die dritte Stunde, und sie kreuzigten ihn.
26Und die Überschrift seiner Beschuldigung war oben über geschrieben: Der König der Juden.
27Und mit ihm kreuzigen sie zwei Räuber, einen zu seiner Rechten und einen zu seiner Linken.
28[Und die Schrift wurde erfüllt, welche sagt: “Und er ist unter die Gesetzlosen gerechnet worden”.]
29Und die Vorübergehenden lästerten ihn, indem sie ihre Köpfe schüttelten und sagten: Ha! Der du den Tempel abbrichst und in drei Tagen aufbaust,
30rette dich selbst und steige herab vom Kreuze.
31Gleicherweise spotteten auch die Hohenpriester samt den Schriftgelehrten untereinander und sprachen: Andere hat er gerettet, sich selbst kann er nicht retten.
32Der Christus, der König Israels, steige jetzt herab vom Kreuze, auf daß wir sehen und glauben. Auch die mit ihm gekreuzigt waren, schmähten ihn.
33Als es aber die sechste Stunde war, kam eine Finsternis über das ganze Land bis zur neunten Stunde;
34und zur neunten Stunde schrie Jesus mit lauter Stimme [und sagte]: Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? was verdolmetscht ist: Mein Gott, mein Gott, warum hast du mich verlassen?
35Und als etliche der Dabeistehenden es hörten, sagten sie: Siehe, er ruft den Elias.
36Es lief aber einer und füllte einen Schwamm mit Essig und steckte ihn auf ein Rohr und tränkte ihn und sprach: Halt, laßt uns sehen, ob Elias kommt, ihn herabzunehmen.
37Jesus aber gab einen lauten Schrei von sich und verschied.
38Und der Vorhang des Tempels zerriß in zwei Stücke, von oben bis unten.
39Als aber der Hauptmann, der ihm gegenüber dabeistand, sah, daß er also schrie und verschied, sprach er: Wahrhaftig, dieser Mensch war Gottes Sohn!
40Es waren aber auch Weiber, die von ferne zusahen, unter welchen auch Maria Magdalene war und Maria, Jakobus' des Kleinen und Joses' Mutter, und Salome,
41welche auch, als er in Galiläa war, ihm nachfolgten und ihm dienten; und viele andere, die mit ihm nach Jerusalem hinaufgekommen waren.
42Und als es schon Abend geworden, (dieweil es Rüsttag war, welches der Vorsabbath ist)
43kam Joseph von Arimathia, ein ehrbarer Ratsherr, der auch selbst das Reich Gottes erwartete, und ging kühn zu Pilatus hinein und bat um den Leib Jesu.
44Pilatus aber wunderte sich, daß er schon gestorben sei; und er rief den Hauptmann herzu und fragte ihn, ob er schon lange gestorben sei.
45Und als er es von dem Hauptmann erfuhr, schenkte er dem Joseph den Leib.
46Und er kaufte feine Leinwand, nahm ihn herab und wickelte ihn in die feine Leinwand und legte ihn in eine Gruft, die aus einem Felsen gehauen war; und er wälzte einen Stein an die Tür der Gruft.
47Aber Maria Magdalene und Maria, Joses' Mutter, sahen zu, wo er hingelegt wurde.

1Y LUEGO por la mañana, habiendo tenido consejo los príncipes de los sacerdotes con los ancianos, y con los escribas, y con todo el concilio, llevaron á Jesús atado, y le entregaron á Pilato.
2Y Pilato le preguntó: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los Judíos? Y respondiendo él, le dijo: Tú lo dices.
3Y los príncipes de los sacerdotes le acusaban mucho.
4Y le preguntó otra vez Pilato, diciendo: ¿No respondes algo? Mira de cuántas cosas te acusan.
5Mas Jesús ni aun con eso respondió; de modo que Pilato se maravillaba.
6Empero en el día de la fiesta les soltaba un preso, cualquiera que pidiesen.
7Y había uno, que se llamaba Barrabás, preso con sus compañeros de motín que habían hecho muerte en una revuelta.
8Y viniendo la multitud, comenzó á pedir hiciese como siempre les había hecho.
9Y Pilato les respondió, diciendo: ¿Queréis que os suelte al Rey de los Judíos?
10Porque conocía que por envidia le habían entregado los príncipes de los sacerdotes.
11Mas los príncipes de los sacerdotes incitaron á la multitud, que les soltase antes á Barrabás.
12Y respondiendo Pilato, les dice otra vez: ¿Qué pues queréis que haga del que llamáis Rey de los Judíos?
13Y ellos volvieron á dar voces: Crucifícale.
14Mas Pilato les decía: ¿Pues qué mal ha hecho? Y ellos daban más voces: Crucifícale.
15Y Pilato, queriendo satisfacer al pueblo, les soltó á Barrabás, y entregó á Jesús, después de azotarle, para que fuese crucificado.
16Entonces los soldados le llevaron dentro de la sala, es á saber, al Pretorio; y convocan toda la cohorte.
17Y le visten de púrpura; y poniéndole una corona tejida de espinas,
18Comenzaron luego á saludarle: ¡Salve, Rey de los Judíos!
19Y le herían en la cabeza con una caña, y escupían en él, y le adoraban hincadas las rodillas.
20Y cuando le hubieron escarnecido, le desnudaron la púrpura, y le vistieron sus propios vestidos, y le sacaron para crucificarle.
21Y cargaron á uno que pasaba, Simón Cireneo, padre de Alejandro y de Rufo, que venía del campo, para que llevase su cruz.
22Y le llevan al lugar de Gólgotha, que declarado quiere decir: Lugar de la Calavera.
23Y le dieron á beber vino mezclado con mirra; mas él no lo tomó.
24Y cuando le hubieron crucificado, repartieron sus vestidos, echando suertes sobre ellos, qué llevaría cada uno.
25Y era la hora de las tres cuando le crucificaron.
26Y el título escrito de su causa era: EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS.
27Y crucificaron con él dos ladrones, uno á su derecha, y el otro á su izquierda.
28Y se cumplió la Escritura, que dice: Y con los inicuos fué contado.
29Y los que pasaban le denostaban, meneando sus cabezas, y diciendo: ¡Ah! tú que derribas el templo de Dios, y en tres días lo edificas,
30Sálvate á ti mismo, y desciende de la cruz.
31Y de esta manera también los príncipes de los sacerdotes escarneciendo, decían unos á otros, con los escribas: A otros salvó, á sí mismo no se puede salvar.
32El Cristo, Rey de Israel, descienda ahora de la cruz, para que veamos y creamos. También los que estaban crucificados con él le denostaban.
33Y cuando vino la hora de sexta, fueron hechas tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora de nona.
34Y á la hora de nona, exclamó Jesús á gran voz, diciendo: Eloi, Eloi, ¿lama sabachthani? que declarado, quiere decir: Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has desamparado?
35Y oyéndole unos de los que estaban allí, decían: He aquí, llama á Elías.
36Y corrió uno, y empapando una esponja en vinagre, y poniéndola en una caña, le dió á beber, diciendo: Dejad, veamos si vendrá Elías á quitarle.
37Mas Jesús, dando una grande voz, espiró.
38Entonces el velo del templo se rasgó en dos, de alto á bajo.
39Y el centurión que estaba delante de él, viendo que había espirado así clamando, dijo: Verdaderamente este hombre era el Hijo de Dios.
40Y también estaban algunas mujeres mirando de lejos; entre las cuales estaba María Magdalena, y María la madre de Jacobo el menor y de José, y Salomé;
41Las cuales, estando aún él en Galilea, le habían seguido, y le servían; y otras muchas que juntamente con él habían subido á Jerusalem.
42Y cuando fué la tarde, porque era la preparación, es decir, la víspera del sábado,
43José de Arimatea, senador noble, que también esperaba el reino de Dios, vino, y osadamente entró á Pilato, y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús.
44Y Pilato se maravilló que ya fuese muerto; y haciendo venir al centurión, preguntóle si era ya muerto.
45Y enterado del centurión, dió el cuerpo á José:
46El cual compró una sábana, y quitándole, le envolvió en la sábana: y le puso en un sepulcro que estaba cavado en una peña; y revolvió una piedra á la puerta del sepulcro.
47Y María Magdalena, y María madre de José, miraban donde era puesto.

1And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
2And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.
3And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
4And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
5But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
6Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.
7And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
8And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.
9But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
10For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
11But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
12And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
13And they cried out again, Crucify him.
14Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
15And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
16And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Prætorium; and they call together the whole band.
17And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
18And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
19And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
20And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
21And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
22And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
23And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.
24And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
25And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
26And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
27And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
28And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
29And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
30Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
31Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
32Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
33And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
35And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
36And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
37And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
40There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41(Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
42And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
43Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
44And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
45And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
46And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
47And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

1Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders, scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, bound Jesus, carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.
2Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered, “So you say.”
3The chief priests accused him of many things.
4Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you!”
5But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.
6Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whomever they asked of him.
7There was one called Barabbas, bound with his fellow insurgents, men who in the insurrection had committed murder.
8The multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do as he always did for them.
9Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”
10For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up.
11But the chief priests stirred up the multitude, that he should release Barabbas to them instead.
12Pilate again asked them, “What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?”
13They cried out again, “Crucify him!”
14Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, “Crucify him!”
15Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.
16The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.
17They clothed him with purple; and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.
18They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
19They struck his head with a reed and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him.
20When they had mocked him, they took the purple cloak off him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.
21They compelled one passing by, coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go with them that he might bear his cross.
22They brought him to the place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, “The place of a skull.”
23They offered him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but he didn’t take it.

32Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe him.” Those who were crucified with him also insulted him.
33When the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
35Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”
36One ran, and filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down.”
37Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit.
38The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.
39When the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”
40There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41who, when he was in Galilee, followed him and served him; and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.
42When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,
43Joseph of Arimathaea, a prominent council member who also himself was looking for God’s Kingdom, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.
44Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead long.
45When he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
46He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth and laid him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
47Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.
